Featured Work: Rabun County Church of Christ, Tiger, Georgia

Editor’s Note: How do you keep a church from closing its doors? EVANGELISM! No matter the size, if you have workers, you can grow. When McKinley Pate arrived at Rabun County, they were hanging on by a thread. His goal was to revitalize the congregation using what he had learned from HTHSOE. There have been times of discouragement, but he and his family have never given up. Over the past 12 months, they have had more baptisms than some congregations of 300+. We love all missionaries, including American missionaries!

We’re Not Shutting Our Doors
Written by McKinley Pate

The Lord continues to bless the congregation that meets in Rabun County. We have seen two individuals obey the Gospel over the past couple of weeks.  Leeland Flucher obeyed the Gospel on March 16.  Leeland and his grandmother Carla were invited several months ago after moving into a home about a quarter of a mile from the building.  After visiting a few times, Leeland understood what he needed to do, and we are studying with Carla and praying she will follow suit soon.

On March 23, after attending services for a few months and studying through all three books of Back to the Bible, Christie Matthews obeyed the Gospel, having her sins washed away.  She expressed that she had been misled into saying a sinner’s prayer to be saved, but now that she has seen the truth in the Scriptures, she recognizes the need to be saved in the way the Bible teaches. Our average attendance for the year is over 33 on Sunday mornings.

With three baptisms in the first three months of the year, the Lord is providing the increase.  The congregation in Rabun County is proof that congregations on the brink of closing their doors can see an increase from the Lord when they stop waiting for something to happen and start going out to bring the lost to the foot of the Cross. To God be the Glory!

Congregational Reports

Welcome to Hartselle church of Christ: We welcome the Hartselle church of Christ to the House to House/Heart to Heart School of Evangelism. This is a very welcoming group of Christians who are ready to reach the lost. The attendance was excellent. They have two preachers who can’t wait to begin training the congregation on how to execute the HTHSOE model.

Glencoe church of Christ, Alabama: Keith Ritchie (evangelist) reports, “Glencoe is still being blessed with a good amount of visitors! Next weekend we have an outreach effort, plus our door knocking teams will be doing transition work on the contacts we have made. Four Bible studies are still ongoing. We have a lot of wonderful work going on at Glencoe. Pray we continue to be successful in our evangelistic efforts. To God be the glory.”

New Hope church of Christ, Florence, Alabama: Doug Jackson (preacher) reports, “We are preparing to choose coordinators. Only seven surveys have been returned, but many have said they want to be a part of this work, so the elders are looking at the returned surveys reaching out to individuals about coordinating. I preached the second sermon on John, and the members are praying for their contacts.”

Highland Park church of Christ, Muscle Shoals, Alabama: Andrew Myhan (deacon) reports, “We have started a new and more streamlined way of writing compassion cards this Sunday. We appreciate all prayers on behalf of the ongoing Bible studies with our prospects.”

Central church of Christ, Saraland, Alabama: David Dixon (preacher) reports, “Sometimes a boost in evangelistic energy can come simply from being around people who are also interested in saving souls. It has been a great pick-me-up to be at the Memphis School of Preaching Lectureship this week. With so many like-minded evangelists gathered together, our passion for reaching the lost is renewed. It has been encouraging to hear from people who are familiar with our successes because they have read our reports in these weekly emails! Our fifth Sunday fellowship was not as well-attended as I had hoped, but we have expectations that visitors will join us this coming Sunday. Our New Converts class continues to be a source of hope for our congregation. These young Christians are thirsty for Bible knowledge. We are trying to reach family members of some of our new converts, but the going is tough. Rob noted that 10 percent of prospects will become contacts, and 10 percent of contacts will lead to Bible studies; these statistics are proving to be accurate. We started off well above those numbers a year ago, and seeing them come back down to earth can be discouraging. We must remind ourselves that the fields are still white unto harvest. We have to do the work!”

Creekwood church of Christ, Mobile, Alabama: Tucker Presley (preacher) reports, “We finished our sermons on the Back to the Bible booklets yesterday and continued unveiling the layers of the program on Sunday night. We talked about using congregational activities and events as outreach opportunities. We completed one Bible study, but there wasn’t a baptism. One of our elders will follow up on that study. We have been visiting those who are coming off the prospect list, but none resulted in Bible studies last week. Some seem interested, so we are keeping in touch with them. Compassion cards are being sent out every week, and we have received a few comments from different people about how thankful they are for the cards.”

Petersville church of Christ, Florence, Alabama: Adam Richardson (preacher) reports, “The Petersville congregation has sent 1,700+ compassion cards since our evangelism seminar last May. We met with our coordinators yesterday and updated the congregation on ways to be involved. It was requested that we reissue the participation survey to allow members at church to re-volunteer for roles in the various programs and reignite the interest of some who were not as involved yet. We are also making changes among our compassion cards groups to encourage more participation in that program. We have scheduled an Easter egg hunt for April 13 as a community outreach, and we are inviting contacts.”

Hatton church of Christ, Alabama: Chris Miller (preacher) reports, “We rejoice that Kaidence Smith obeyed the Gospel this past week after going through the study! Now the rest of her family is attending, and we are hopeful for more opportunities there. We continue to have lots of visitors and are preparing for our Gospel Meeting that begins next week.”

Mountain Home church of Christ, Arkansas: Joshua Adams (preacher) reports, “This past Wednesday, we had a baptism four years in the making. Young CJ decided to put Christ on in baptism. While we studied with him in the weeks leading up to the baptism, CJ began coming with the Comferts (members) four years ago during VBS. He would come to our VBS every year and then periodically to Bible class and worship. However, after our Evangelism Seminar, the Comferts focused hard on getting him to services. Though his parents and grandparents are not members of the church, the Comferts have been bringing him to church when his grandmother was unable. He heard and believed the Gospel and was ready to make a change. What a great reminder about funneling all of our church events and activities into evangelism! In the large group photo I sent with this report, the Comferts are near the back, but CJ’s parents, grandparents, uncles, cousins, and family friends are also there—and none of them are members of the Lord’s church. They came to support CJ, and now we have more new contacts to prospect. Through this young boy’s faith and decision to follow the Lord, who knows the great good that can be accomplished!”

Malvern church of Christ, Arkansas (remote): David Burruss (preacher) reports, “We continue to send compassion cards to our three prospects. For the month of March, we sent 35 compassion cards; we will conduct transition visits next week.”

Rison church of Christ, Arkansas: Keden Shrum (preacher) reports, “We had two visitors this past Sunday. One family used to worship here several years ago but have been out of duty since before I came here. Care Team B met yesterday to begin sending cards to them. I plan to reach out to them this week and try to get a Bible study going soon. The other visitor does not have a mailing address at this time. He has some struggles in life, but hopefully, the Gospel and some acts of love will help improve his situation.”

Windsor church of Christ, Colorado: Lucas Stephens (member) reports, “We had a great worship service at Windsor this week. We are shifting our focus toward new movers as we have a reduction in internal contacts from our group. We adjusted our new movers zones, and as a result, we will be able to reach out to 60 to 80 additional people per month. Lord willing, this will help in gaining more contacts with the focus on gaining Bible studies. We sent out six sets of compassion cards this week, and we did three transition visits that were productive. We have one Bible study on the books from our transition visits over the last several weeks, which is encouraging.”

Lake Forest church of Christ, Jacksonville, Florida: Brian Howard (preacher) reports, “Everyone is excited to get the evangelism program started. We had our kickoff meeting with the elders, deacons, and preachers. The surveys have been passed out and collected, and some coordinators have been established. We have an official start date for the program of April 27.”

Creekside church of Christ, Brandon, Florida: Lewis Henson (elder) reports, “Chaz Austin is going to take the lead starting next week. We are thankful that he is willing to be an administrator. We will begin filling coordinators and start the training soon.”

Wildwood church of Christ, Florida: Tony Clay (evangelist) reports, “Our official launch date is this upcoming Sunday (April 6). We will begin with John 4 and the Contact Bookmarks. The congregation is enthusiastic, and we are anxious to begin the training and laying the groundwork for future success. The fields are white in our area, and it all begins with generating contacts!”

Margaret Street church of Christ, Milton, Florida: Troy Spradlin (preacher) reports, “What happens when you submit a contact and the church sends them compassion cards? It shows the prospect the love of the church and opens the door for spiritual conversation. Spiritual conversations can lead to personal Bible studies. Bible studies often result in one being baptized for the forgiveness of sins. That is exactly what happened with Phillip Carnathan this past week! He is a coworker of one of our members who submitted his name to our evangelism ministry, and we worked the simple Gospel process. We rejoice with the angels in Heaven that Phillip has been added to the Lord’s Kingdom! Since we started this ministry, there have been six souls rescued from the darkness by putting on Christ in baptism and one prodigal soul who has returned to the flock and is remaining faithful! Currently, we have 90 contacts.  We are working on five compassion card prospects, and we have 13 transition prospects and nine Bible study prospects. We have mailed 864 compassion cards. We serve an amazing God!”

Niceville church of Christ, Florida: Joe Palmer (preacher) reports, “This week, we had two studies and sent out 21 cards. On Sunday, I preached on John 15:8, ‘A Disciple Must Bear Fruit,’ and we passed out new contact cards. I did not have the new ‘Who Is Your Neighbor?’ card, but we had a good response. This week, I will follow that up with a lesson titled ‘I See Lost People,’ and we will pass out cards again for those who missed last week. We emphasize the need to process more contacts and talk about the urgency of the Gospel. On Saturday, we had a funeral for my first convert after starting with HTHSOE. John Recher passed away, and we hosted the memorial at our building. It was a great success because John, a realtor in the community for many years, knew many people. During the service, I told the story of his conversion. One man approached me afterward and said, ‘I am glad you talked about baptism; I need to be baptized.’ He lives in another town, so I am going to pass him on as a hot prospect for a sister congregation. I met many community people and am hopeful that the hospitality of our church will lead to further contacts. I am actively prospecting John’s children and had one good conversation with his daughter and the promise of a future study. We are always looking for prospects.”

Avalon church of Christ, Florida (remote): Preston Silcox (elder) reports, “Last week, we continued working on our bookmarks, writing and mailing compassion cards, and engaging in Bible studies. We added one new study as well. Two families attended an ongoing community Bible study, attempting ‘synagogue evangelism’ and cultivating contacts. We are seeing great engagement from members, and we are encouraged by their desire to reach the lost and grow the Kingdom.”

Lafayette church of Christ, Georgia: Jesse Teague (deacon) reports, “We had quite a few visitors at worship and our monthly fellowship meal on Sunday. One is a potential restoration. One was a new Christian who came with her daughter and a friend. The friend was restored a good while back, partly due to some efforts of members at Lafayette who reached out to him through a prison ministry. One is a repeat visitor who is in a Bible study. One has been on our prayer list for quite a while and has received many cards from our members. Best of all, last week, we were blessed with a new sister in Christ! Charlotte Coker obeyed the Gospel after learning the true Gospel plan of salvation.”

Woodstock church of Christ, Georgia: Matt Amos (preacher) reports, “The WCOC congregation attended the Sunabella of Towne Lake Assistant Living devotional on Sunday. They had eight non-Christian attendees. The Prison Ministry group is working with Athens-Clarke Correctional Facility to bring more Bible Studies throughout the facility. The Compassion Card group created and sent out compassion cards. WCOC had six non-Christian visitors this Sunday morning. We also had two Bible studies this past week.”

Cartersville church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Charles Harris (regional trainer) reports, “There is a large population of Koreans in the area. I have had opportunities to study with many, but we have not been able to get past the language barrier. I have been praying about reaching them with the Gospel. Then along comes Stephen Lee, who is fluent in English and Korean. I met him through our new mover work. Earlier today, I baptized him into Christ. God makes a way.”

Collinsville-Troy church of Christ, Illinois: Jason Wright (elder) reports, “We had a busy week seeking and saving. We mailed out 170 compassion cards. We have mailed over 1,700 this year. We had five Bible studies this week with people who have been receiving our compassion cards. We currently have ten studies in progress. We delivered several new movers baskets and made follow-up visits. This Saturday is our Food Giveaway, which usually generates a lot of contacts. We gave out a visitor’s bag and had several return visitors this week. We had our coordinators meeting and discussed our upcoming door-knocking day on May 17. Our community service coordinator replaced a water heater for someone in our community. We continue serving souls.”

Highland Village church of Christ, Bloomington, Indiana: Mark Stauffer (elder) reports, “We have had a great month at Highland Village. During some weeks, we planted and prayed for fruit to be produced, and the fruit came later. One hundred forty compassion cards were sent in March. Invitation cards were given out, and we had 18 visitors for the month. Eight visits were made, three to new movers and five to prospects. We had one Bible study. We are continuing to train the congregation about the importance of evangelism, emphasizing that we must love and have mercy for the lost if we are to be like our Lord.
The elders are meeting with a family of five this week who recently moved here and want to be a part of our congregation.”

Judah church of Christ, Bedford, Indiana: Joe Moon (preacher) reports, “We are currently prospecting two new people with compassion cards, and we sent one card from the entire congregation to another person who has received many cards but is not ready for a study. Another couple has been trying to continue a study with a coworker, but the woman was not able to meet this week.”

Beloit church of Christ, Kansas (remote): Dustin Dougherty (regional trainer) reports, “We had a good morning service with 30 in attendance and a wonderful 5th Sunday singing last night with 19 members coming in to sing praises. We have several visitor gifts ready to go: coffee mugs with our logo and a custom candle with a verse inside each cup. The gifts look really nice put together with tissue paper.  One sister has stepped forward to help as a visitor greeter, and specific training will occur shortly. I still have many readers who are reading through the New Testament with me; I am working toward a one-on-one study with anyone who is interested. We are still tilling the soil with a few local individuals, praying that they will turn into hot contacts soon. To God be the glory.”

Paintsville church of Christ, Kentucky: Zach Collins (preacher) reports, “We had our first baptism of 2025! Before Sunday morning services, Regina expressed her desire to be baptized into Christ for the remission of sins. Her husband is a member of the church, and she has some friends who are also members of our family at Paintsville who took the time to talk to her about her soul. Evangelism is at its strongest when the whole congregation is involved! We appreciate all prayers.”

Central church of Christ, Paducah, Kentucky: Adam Faughn (preacher) reports, “We were thrilled to have Keno Shrum with us on Sunday. Keno, a regional trainer for the School of Evangelism, helped us with a ‘refresh’ Sunday. Each lesson helped to motivate us and also gave us more information. The meeting in the afternoon with our leaders also helped us to ask questions so we could be ever more efficient and focused. I am certain that the follow-up we will be doing will have a great impact going forward. One Bible study occurred this past week, and another was scheduled but had to be postponed due to illness. It is now scheduled for this Saturday. We believe we are quite close to at least one and maybe two more baptisms soon, but we will leave the increase up to God!”

Poole church of Christ, Kentucky: Andrew Wynne (preacher) reports, “Things are going very well in our efforts to evangelize. We recently started reviewing the Back to the Bible booklets for our Wednesday night class. Also this month, we began sending out cards of encouragement and cards to help restore our wayward members. We have a Gospel Meeting scheduled for April 6-9 and a door-knocking campaign for April 7-9. We look forward to hosting students from Memphis School of Preaching. Please keep our efforts to reach those who have never obeyed the Gospel and restore those who have wandered away in your prayers.”

La Plata church of Christ, LaPlata, Maryland:  Eric Sykes (regional trainer) reports, “God is still in the blessing business. Our compassion card team sent out 21 compassion cards this week. Six members attended New Convert training. We have scheduled a New Movers Ministry training class for next Sunday after the morning worship service. We currently have four open Bible studies. One is a very close family friend, Karen Smith, whom we have known for over 40 years. We are currently studying with her online via Zoom since she lives in Florida. She has been diagnosed with cancer. We are trying to start Lesson 2 of BTTB, but her cancer treatments are making her too sick to study. We request prayers for her on that regard, and we appreciate prayers for the La Plata CoC as we strive to tell our community about Jesus.”

Beltway church of Christ, Maryland: LeAndre Johnson (preacher) reports, “This Wednesday starts or first New Convert studies class. It is scheduled before our regular class and will last 30 to 45 minutes. Also, another member scheduled a Back to the Bible class for this Saturday. We currently have two Bible studies in progress. We had a Friends & Family Day on the 23rd. We had 175 folks in attendance, which is a 57 percent increase; our normal attendance averages around 100.”

Looxahoma church of Christ, Mississippi: Tim Burrough’s (preacher) reports, “Here is an update on our progress with SOE at Looxahoma. We are beginning meetings to set (reset) a start date and lining up coordinators for each part of SOE. Lord willing, I will have more news on that shortly. Also, we have had four baptisms this year. Certainly, we give God all the glory, but we are truly thankful for those of our congregation who are diligent in spreading the Good News!”

East Flushing church of Christ, New York (remote): Clarence Jenkins (preacher) reports, “We had two visitors last week, and four visitors attended worship service. After worship, we happily presented a baptismal certificate to sister Analicia. We also watched the training video ‘Contacts: Texting the Text.’ Our metrics for March are 78 compassion cards, seven Bible studies, 13 prospects, and 22 visitors. We appreciate all prayers.”

Cary church of Christ, North Carolina: Larry Fife (preacher) reports, “What an incredible day we had yesterday at our Friends and Family Day! We were blessed with many visitors; we made new connections and witnessed God’s hand in our congregation. One of our members responded, seeking forgiveness, strength, and restoration, and we rejoice in her renewed commitment. Also, a visitor who was invited by one of our own made the life-changing decision to be baptized! Praise God for His goodness and the hearts turning to Him. It was a day filled with joy, excitement, and the love of Christ. We continue to send out compassion cards, planting seeds and trusting that the Lord will give the increase. We are so grateful to be part of His plan!”

New Concord church of Christ, Ohio: Terry Townsend (preacher) reports, “Our congregation composed 88 compassion cards to mail out this week (five contacts at ten cards each, and 18 new movers at two cards each). In addition, two new contacts were added at the last minute, and they received one card each this week. A gentleman we have been studying with in recent weeks attended our Sunday morning service for the first time. We will be studying with him again this week (Book 3 of BTTB). I will begin a group Bible study at a retirement complex this week! Several of our members live there and have been spreading the Word to their neighbors. We anticipate 10-15 students, most of which will be non-members. We are praying that hearts will be receptive and souls will be won!”

Whispering Hills church of Christ, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma: Matt McBrayer (preacher) reports, “This week, we had six visitors, but we are still gaining ground. We did not send out compassion cards to those outside of the body as we have determined to use the 5th Sundays for a ‘checkup’ on our own members. Before we started the compassion cards, we had been sending cards to our own members who had not been at services, but we have changed our Care Group system to focus on the lost. We likely will continue to improve on our systems until we get things in a good working order (and maybe still change periodically to make it better). As I have been out of town for the Memphis School of Preaching Lectureship, I had to find people to fill in for me in my absence. Namely, I had one of the members fill in on our evangelism efforts and lead the congregation in the gathering of contacts. Also, one of our elders has started teaching the brethren how to use Back to the Bible on Wednesday nights. We are continuing to work and praying for more fruit of our labors. I pray that we have even more progress to report in the coming week.”

Sullivan Village church of Christ, Lawton, Oklahoma: Steven Hill (preacher) reports, “Sullivan Village is pushing for congregation unity with our 5th Sunday singing. We saw more brothers and sisters from area churches coming out to praise God! We are also seeing great results in our New Converts class, which is being taught by one of our elders. The class is proving to be a place for questions, genuine learning, and growth! Our new Christians are thriving, and we give God thanks for the power of His Word. We continue to evangelize and seek to create more opportunities among prospects! If the church is even a glimpse of Heaven will be like, who wouldn’t want to go? God is so good!”

Owasso church of Christ, Oklahoma: David Combs (elder) reports, “We had our second lesson from John 4 yesterday morning, and as usual, Dan did an outstanding job! We prayed for the people on our bookmark cards. On Sunday evening, we had our second training card session. We currently have three Bible studies in progress: Garrett, Cassidy, and Solomon. We were able to present Baron and Jessica with a Bible yesterday evening following their baptism last Tuesday. We have outgrown our evangelism table and table cover; one is on order and should be in this week. We have our materials all sorted on a rack. We chose a coordinator to inventory, reorder, and restock shelves as well as keeping the evangelism table stocked. We also chose a coordinator to oversee the pew visitors and contact cards. Progress is being made daily.”

Porter church of Christ, Oklahoma: Nathan Boyd (elder) reports, “The Porter congregation had our third Sunday morning lesson on John 4 and Sunday evening class on the compassion cards presented by elder Pat Boyd. Behind the curtain, the compassion card setup has begun, and shelving units have arrived and been assembled. Ladies will organize the cards in the cubicles this week, label baskets, and complete additional setup plans. Today was our quarterly church meal. Church members were asked to invite someone on their bookmark cards to come and stay for a meal after service. We had four visitors. Even though we did not plan to start compassion cards today, we had an impromptu compassion card writing for those four visitors to be mailed this week. We will make them a part of our official kick-off compassion card writings on April 6, 2025.”

Coweta church of Christ, Oklahoma: Keno Shrum (regional trainer) reports, “I had a great time Sunday bringing a Congregational Refresh to the Central church of Christ in Paducah, Kentucky. Meanwhile in Coweta, members filled out compassion cards for visitors and one woman who is battling breast cancer. On Friday evening, Breylan came to our house, and Jamie prepared a delicious dinner. After eating (Always Eat), Garrett and I went through Lesson 2 of Back to the Bible. It was an enjoyable study, especially when Breylan recognized that the denomination he belongs to is not named anywhere in the Bible—but the church of Christ is (Romans 16:16, Acts 20:28). It was a real eye-opener. On Sunday evening, he texted me and said he could hardly wait for Lesson 3. What I love about Back to the Bible is that it is scriptural and it is easy! I believe most Christians do not want to get into a Bible study because they are afraid they will not have answers to questions asked. Back to the Bible is very simple and user-friendly. Once we understand the number one principle, ‘Defer, Don’t Debate,’ then we have nothing to fear. We will stick with the study and defer any questions asked outside the scope of the study. I wholeheartedly believe anyone can lead someone to Christ with Back to the Bible!”

Cheyenne church of Christ, Oklahoman (remote): Nathan Brewer (member) reports, “After five or six months of prospecting Chad and Cammy Hutcherson, we went through Book 3 of Back to the Bible on Sunday. Immediately afterward, they were baptized into Christ. It will take many prayers and a lot of work to help them learn and grow so they will remain faithful, but we are off to a good start.”

York church of Christ, Pennsylvania: Mark Rashke (deacon) reports, “This week in York, we had some repeat visitors: Christine, her middle-aged daughter Sue, and her teenage granddaughter Londyn. Since they first visited last Sunday, Christine has attended every service, as well as coming to the women’s luncheon on Thursday. Londyn is about the same age as a few of our other young people, including my daughter, so we made some introductions to start building relationships with each of them. Some of the ladies put together more visitor bags, and we made an announcement asking for donations and volunteers. We also sent more compassion cards, and we will have our monthly visitation meeting next Sunday.”

Union church of Christ, South Carolina (remote): Terry Hale (preacher) reports, “I am including a picture of our board that we use during our meetings to discuss the progress of our prospects. We had a great week of training and enjoyed a Zoom meeting in preparation for our work. We have three good Bible studies ready for Book 3 and two other good studies. Our workers seem to be ready for the work ahead.”

Hillcrest church of Christ, Springfield, Tennessee: Tim Taylor (evangelist) reports, “Three precious souls were restored this week. We request prayers for Grayson, Holly, and Beth as they continue their walk with the Lord. We had five first-time visitors. We had two contacts submitted.”

New Union church of Christ, Manchester, Tennessee: Paul Fultz (elder) reports, “Last week was busy.  We made 55 visits. These visits are a result of contacts turned in, and we are also writing cards to them. Last week, we had four visitors, and two contact cards were submitted. We also wrote 32 cards.”

Cookeville church of Christ, Tennessee: Jonathan Medley (deacon) reports, “We added three more prospects this week, so we are currently working on eight prospects. The three new ones all came from the New Movers program. Several contacts who have received cards have told us that they are encouraged and uplifted.”

McEwen church of Christ, Tennessee: John Jones (preacher) reports, “We have three Bible studies ongoing, a new round of first visits this week, and new contacts to receive cards. Things are going well, and we hope for some baptisms before long. We have sixteen prospects on our list.”

Philadelphia church of Christ, Lebanon, Tennessee (remote): Alex Degraves (associate preacher) reports, “We have one member who is continuing her study with her friend who grew up in the church. They want to reach her husband, which may prove difficult. Even so, an opportunity may be presenting itself to prospect him. Aside from this, I preached the first eight points from the John 4 sermon and began the first step of the contact cards. We appreciate prayers as we continue to do the best we can;  we want to motivate everyone to do this work!”

Stewarts Creek church of Christ, Smyrna, Tennessee: Jon McCord (member) reports, “We have sent out 17 compassion cards for visitors we had from our Friends and Family day on March 23. Nine new mover baskets are going out this week. Training is still set to continue in mid-April. We are looking into establishing a New Convert class.”

Birdwell Chapel church of Christ, Cottontown, Tennessee: Kerry England (elder) reports, “We currently have one Bible study being conducted by one of our deacons. We have signed up with House to House Heart to Heart to begin the New Movers program. We have a brother coordinating that effort and a sister putting together our new mover baskets. We will be ready when we receive the list from HTHHTH of our new neighbors to make visits! We have had several visitors in the past few weeks. We are sending them cards from individual members as we prepare to kick off the compassion card ministry in the near future. We have a coordinator in place and leaders of those teams.”

Ocoee Street church of Christ, Copperhill, Tennessee: R.E. Vann (elder) reports, “We had another family (of two) placed their workmanship with us yesterday. They will be an asset in our maturing evangelistic culture. We are having a repeat family visiting us who will soon be moving to the area. We have been sending them compassion cards. We have 12 active prospects and are praying for restorations and Bible studies.”

Rivergate church of Christ, Madison, Tennessee: Doug Tooley (preacher) reports, “We had five visitors on Sunday morning. Three were of a family that is involved in one of our Bible studies. The wife in this family is the one we mentioned last week who is really close. We had two visitors last week, and we had two people who came forward on Sunday to be restored.”

White Oak church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee (remote): John McGiffin (preacher) reports, “We put out our first advertisement on Facebook. The link led to a form for our Bible correspondence course. For the past four days, the advertisement was viewed by 1450 people within a five-mile radius of the building. Thirty-eight clicked on the link for the course. I do not know anyone who has completed the form, but time will tell. Twelve people were NOT members of the church. One comment from another non-member said he was praying for the event. We have spent $11.54 so far. In addition, we packaged door hangers for a campaign. We will distribute 400 door hangers this coming Sunday. “

West Fayetteville church of Christ, Tennessee: Van Massey (elder) reports, “This week, compassion cards continue to roll out. We are being blessed each week with new visitors. I had a Bible study Saturday morning with a lady I have been talking to for some time. The study went great. In fact, she not only attended Bible class and worship on Sunday morning but also brought her husband along! They both stayed for a fellowship meal afterward. Both have agreed to continue to allow me to study with them. We keep trying to encourage other prospects as well. May all we do be for the glory of our Father.”

Mountain Creek church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee: Michael Tomshack (elder) reports, “One of our newer members has been encouraging her son to attend worship and Bible classes for quite some time now. A couple of weeks ago, he attended and has now expressed a desire to gradually delve deeper into the study of the Bible. Our congregation is known for its warmth and friendliness, actively reaching out to visitors to share the grace and mercy that our Lord and Savior has bestowed upon us. This is an integral part of our Evangelism process, which involves meeting and building connections with new people. While some connections are successful, others may not click. Regardless, we sow seeds with God, and He provides the increase.”

Northern Oaks church of Christ, San Antonio, Texas: Mel Hutzler (elder) reports, “We have great news to report! Cayla Casey was baptized Sunday morning after studying with one of our elders, Joe Bentley. Cayla came to our services with her brother John (a recent convert), who was invited by Ethan, a preacher student. Joe took the opportunity to talk with them and then studied the Bible with them. Both John and Cayla plan on worshiping with us at Northern Oaks. The power of inviting and bringing someone to worship is alive and well. I appreciate Joe for taking the initiative with that study.”

Eisenhower church of Christ, Odessa, Texas: Allen Weakland (elder) reports, “As another week begins, the Eisenhower congregation was blessed to witness Mikali obeying the Gospel. She has been attending with us for several months. One of our young ladies, Hannah Weakland, sought her out to engage in a Bible study. They have been studying for several weeks, and it concluded this afternoon with her immersion in Christ. May we praise God for His goodness, mercy, and patience.”

Howe church of Christ, Texas: Aaron Alsbrook (preacher) reports, “What a wonderful weekend we had last week, as well as a brilliant beginning to this week in our worship. We ended last week with our annual men’s day, which one of our deacons started ten or more years ago. Our guest speaker was Andy Kizer from Salem, Alabama, discussing the topic of ‘Going to Heaven.’ We had many men from surrounding congregations who were encouraged by the study of God’s Word. Our deacon over outreach admonished each of us to funnel our Men’s Day through our evangelism model, and we invited men to attend. Then on Sunday, we continued our discussion on Heaven in the book of Hebrews. Next week, we will finish our study of the House to House School of Evangelism model, discussing every member’s role to play.”

Roanoke church of Christ, Texas: Caleb Rutherford (preacher) reports, “We had another great week/weekend. It began with one of our elders continuing his study with one of our unfaithful members. They completed Book 2. On Sunday, Group 3 wrote cards to six prospects. Kaylon and I have been studying with two newly added prospects to the compassion card list. We have been able to complete Book 1 with them. However, that study has been put on hold because they recently gave birth to a new baby girl. They are now going to be receiving cards and meals from us for the next few weeks. Be prayerful that we are able to capitalize on this opportunity. Our Young Professional group had a park outing on Saturday. While setting up, a lady approached my wife (Kaylon) and asked her what group we were a part of. So Kaylon told her, which sparked a conversation. I then walked over, introduced myself, gave her one of our ‘invite cards,’ and then swapped contact information. She and I are planning to get coffee soon to talk about the church. Kaylon and I have scheduled a dinner at our house this Thursday with a couple who visited our congregation about three weeks ago. We plan to start Book 1. Four other studies led by different members are also ongoing. We are making transition visits. We are learning as we go and improving with every visit.”

Fruitvale church of Christ, Texas: Carl McCann (elder) reports, “Our visitors were up to 18 this past Sunday! One of them was a lady who studied Does It Matter several months ago; she had stated she did not want to come back. We were gracious with Mrs. Joanne and gave her space. Hopefully, she will want to study the truth again soon. We also had another visitor, Belinda, who had studied Book 2 of Back to the Bible over six weeks ago. We expect lots of good work ahead as we try to get these two plugged back into a study. We assisted our brethren in Coleman, Texas, with the Hillcrest church of Christ by door-knocking. They gained 18 new contacts. We also have Tyberius Tooley, a brother from San Antonio, Texas, with the Fort Sam Houston church of Christ coming to spend two weeks with us to work with us. We continue to have five ongoing studies.”

Midtown church of Christ, Victoria, Texas: Cody McCoy (preacher) reports, “We lost the Bible studies with Lorraine and Betty (both for different reasons) after the second studies. We have a young lady who has expressed interest in having a Bible study, so we are trying to schedule that. We had a good number of volunteers for 5th Sunday card writing! Our compassion card contacts include two young families who have visited recently.”

Wheeler church of Christ, Texas: Garrett English (preacher) reports, “I have a Bible study on baptism scheduled this week with the young man I have mentioned before. I believe he is ready to be baptized, but I want to be sure he knows what he is doing. I plan to use the Does It Matter? study.”

Bridgewater church of Christ, Katy, Texas: Doug Suggs (deacon) reports, “Our brother Andre goes regularly to a gym, and he met a couple there recently. They attended this past Lord’s Day. Hopefully, they will begin a study soon. We will have a guest speaker on Sunday and will be going into the neighborhood to invite our neighbors to come to worship with us.”

Granbury Street church of Christ, Cleburne, Texas: Ryan Cowan (deacon) reports, “Our efforts with new movers baskets have gone well. Our continuing challenge is to make renewed contact with those that receive our compassion cards. To help with this effort, we are planning an ‘In Person Visit’ Friday night event for April 11. We will share a quick dinner together, pass out contact cards, review some of our door-to-door skills, and then head out to reconnect with contacts.”

Abingdon church of Christ, Virginia: Freddie Klein (evangelist) reports, “This week, we conducted visits to prospective individuals from our compassion card list, with further visits planned. The initial responses have been positive. On Sunday morning, Nathan delivered a sermon on the Back to the Bible series. In addition, Brother Bill, who is one of our elders, led an effective meeting with our visiting visitor teams. Our visitor bag team has been trained and will be responsible for assembling bags for transition visits, new movers, and visitors. On Sunday evening, Nathan preached the importance of treating all visitors with love and compassion, which complemented our meeting nicely. Additional visits are still to be made. Currently, two Bible studies are active, and we have numerous contact cards for our upcoming card-writing groups.”

West Side church of Christ, Salem, Virginia: Jeff Durham (elder) reports, “Our Community Support Day in May is beginning to take shape. We have members taking the lead in the organization and execution of this event who are new to taking on such roles. Their enthusiasm is contagious! Everyone is being encouraged to be involved on some level (bringing clothing/household items, purchasing diapers/wipes, all to be given away, meeting/greeting the attendees, etc.). We are looking forward to using this outreach event to make new connections for evangelism in our community.”

Culpeper church of Christ, Virginia (remote): Dave Calvert (elder) reports, “Our congregation has had a young man attend our worship services fairly faithfully for the past several years but had not made the decision to put on Christ in baptism. We began our compassion card ministry several weeks ago, and we focused on him (among others) as a main prospect. I offered to have a Bible study with him if he had any questions about what the Bible says about salvation. He said he would think about it and let me know. This past Wednesday night, he came forward and said that he did understand what he needed to do and that he was ready to put on Christ in baptism. This is our twelfth baptism this year. HTHSOE works! Another wonderful week. Hallelujah!”

Williamsburg church of Christ, Virginia: Jim Bishop (elder) reports, “This week, we continue to pray for opportunities to spread the Gospel. We currently have two Bible studies in progress. We continue to review an HTH video each week at our Wednesday night Bible study. Our first-time visitor team members checked all our visitor bags to ensure the information in them was current and other goodies were fresh and not damaged. May God bless those striving to serve Him.”
