Covington church of Christ, Tennessee: Wayne Dalrymple (elder) reports, “The last week has been amazing at Covington! The Lord has truly blessed our evangelism efforts. We have had four more baptisms this week. First, Charles Wolfe was baptized last Wednesday night. We met Charles after we knocked on his brother’s door. His brother told us he might need some financial help. We helped him with hotel rent and food. He started attending services and studying with me. We did book 3 of
Back to the Bible Wednesday evening before service. We did not have to finish it before he was ready to put Christ on in baptism.
“After AMC, many of our members have been super motivated to evangelize. Neil Bringle and his wife, Ashley, who was baptized during AMC, have been on fire. They are studying with Ashley’s father virtually because he lives in eastern Tennessee. They also studied with her mom and her sister who were baptized Saturday night. Other members, Brandon and Jill Matlock, studied with Cheyanne Harber who started attending the Wednesday of AMC after we knocked on her door. She was prospected by several members. She was hearing all the talk about salvation and wanted to go through all three books of Back to the Bible Sunday afternoon. They did, and she was baptized before evening service.
“Our minister, Mike Rogers, finished the lessons on making contacts from John 4 Sunday morning. We have been sending many compassion cards. We are running our bus to pick up several who needed rides to services. We are beginning a new round of a new converts class for the most recent converts. Several other studies are going on as well. Great things are happening at Covington!”
Towne Acres church of Christ, Muncie, Indiana: Rob reports, “We had our three-month virtual meeting with Mark Reynolds and the eldership. It was very encouraging. They have more contacts than they can prospect, and they are preparing to move to the Bible study step.”
Parkway church of Christ, Kentucky: Will Hester (preacher) reports, “We plan to begin the congregational plan in earnest on July 10. I will begin preaching the John 4 sermon series that morning, and we are looking forward to the start of a new culture at Parkway! With this new plan, we can see a vision we had not seen before!”
Greenfield church of Christ, Tennessee: Brent Arnold (preacher) reports, “We have two Bible studies on going. We had two visitors on Sunday, and we took them out for lunch and are prospecting them now. Sunday’s sermon emphasized evangelism, and we passed out cards for members to write down ten contacts. Things are off to a good start.”
Fayette church of Christ, Alabama: Kaleb Hull (preacher) reports, “We finished our study of John 4 last Sunday and have several new contacts from the bookmarks. We are prospecting about 20 souls right now through the compassion cards. Our young ladies are meeting tonight to put together visitor bags, and we will begin Back to the Bible this coming Sunday morning.”
Aberdeen church of Christ, Maryland: Will Brown (preacher) reports, “This week we reorganized our church evangelism effort. The cards have been organized for distribution. We have purchased a card carousel for easy access for the card team. A new sermon series is being preached based on the Back to the Bible lessons. Prospecting and finding contacts have been re-explained in an effort to expand our established contact database. It has been explained that all members will be involved with one of three ministries, visitation, compassion cards, or basket-making team. The church leadership is working together to make the Lord’s church in Aberdeen, Maryland, an evangelistic success.”
New Hope church of Christ, Middleton, Tennessee: Cole Wade (preacher) reports, “Our new converts are doing well! Our class for them is still continuing to grow, and they seem to love being members at New Hope! We are studying through Believe the Bible on Wednesday nights, and it has been enjoyable and challenging. Many good conversations have occurred because of it, and the members are thinking critically about these concepts. We are also increasing our contacts and spending time with people. The church is growing, and our members are growing!”
Northern Oaks church of Christ, San Antonio, Texas: Mel Hutzler (elder/preacher) reports, “We have our ongoing card-writing teams meeting every week. We have several who show appreciation for the cards sent and currently have several Bible studies in progress. We also continue to take down visitors’ names and try to prospect them. We are mailing HTH. We have the Summer Youth Night at our congregation next Friday and will also host our VBS this month. We hope to gain more contacts from these events and the HTH mail-out.”
Forestview church of Christ, Memphis, Tennessee: Tim Roland (preacher) reports, “We are requesting prayers for Bob Cooley, one of our elders, and myself as we have scheduled a Bible study with a Baptist lady who is a caretaker for one of our members. She and her husband visited our services about a month ago. Our EMT group continues to send out compassion cards each week. We have set up our Evangelism Table and have begun giving out visitor bags. Our progress may be moving slowly, but we continue to forge ahead!”
Rogersville church of Christ, Tennessee: Ethan Tate (preacher) reports, “This past week has opened a lot of doors for us! This weekend, one of the members opened their home for a delicious meal and invited their entire family, neighbors, friends, and the entire church. We had around 60 people present, and we made many contacts, one of which is turning into a Bible study! We also had an ice cream supper after evening services, and three visitors came to enjoy time in worship and fellowship. We set up a prospect family from the event and ask your prayers as we begin to work with them. A prospect who has been receiving our compassion cards called to thank us for the love sent to her and the messages of encouragement. She said she has never seen anything like it before and is planning to visit us soon. Please pray that we can reach both her and her husband! We are also studying with one man who is asking excellent questions; we will start the first book of Back to the Bible soon. We are excited to see these doors open, but we are even more excited to see the fruits produced from all of these opportunities.”
Schertz church of Christ, Texas: Jay Stewart (elder) reports, “This week the Schertz congregation prepared for a busy July. We rejoiced with the Springer family that Scott was able to come home and begin his recovery from surgery. Brother Crowley contracted COVID, so we had to interrupt our Back to the BibleWednesday night study. We plan to resume it next week. The attached picture is from his previous class. We had two Bible study opportunities. The first one did not pan out because, despite several attempts to use BTTB, the contact was only looking for a church where he could play his drums. Our second prospect is a man who asked for assistance, which we provided. We set an appointment for 11:00 a.m. on the fourth to study the Bible. We are hopeful he will show up. Our VBS is planned for July 16 as a single-day event. We hope to develop contacts and study opportunities from the neighbors we invite.”
Paintsville church of Christ, Kentucky: Zach Collins (preacher) reports, “This past week, our annual OATH Conference was a great evangelistic success! We had many visitors, and we scheduled two Bible studies. We also had one restoration from a woman who was wayward for 30+ years. Incidentally, she is the mother of one of our new converts. He made it his mission to study with his mother and father after he became a Christian, and as a result of his efforts, she decided to come home. We pray his father and brother will soon follow her footsteps! Please continue to pray for us, as we evangelize our community.”
Siwell Road church of Christ, Jackson, Mississippi: Derek Broome (preacher) reports, “This week we are excited to report one more baptism. Brooke Conger was baptized into Christ on Sunday. We are continuing to pray for the other Bible studies that are still taking place. Several of these studies are going very well. It is so exciting to see so many hearts open to the gospel.”
Riverbend church of Christ, Georgia: Austin Fowler (member) reports, “On Thursday night, I had a Bible study with Christy Winstead. She wrote to me last week on Facebook, requesting to be baptized. The study went very well. After the first study session, she wrote, “Thank you so much. I learned so much tonight. I am thankful for you.” We have scheduled the second study. “During the study, I received another Facebook message from a girl I knew in high school. She wrote that she grew up attending a church of Christ in Florida with her grandparents. When she moved to Dalton, she went to the Baptist church. She said she was going to visit us soon. I can hardly wait until she visits so we can prospect her.”
St. Mary’s church of Christ, Georgia: Terry Powell (elder) reports, “Susan began a study with Emily, our daughter-in-law. Because she lives two hours away, they held the study via facetime. We gave Emily the material for the Open Bible study. At the end of book 3, Emily requested to be baptized. They came to Kingsland, and she was baptized today, 4 July 2022. She has found the truest form of independence from sin.”
University church of Christ, Montgomery, Alabama: Kevin Long (deacon) reports, “We recently had our VBS and invited the community. We had about 69 children in addition to our members’ children. We had between 105-115 people each night. Also, we are excited that Cutter Brodie was baptized into Christ this morning! His parents, Chris and Taryn Brodie, are members at our congregation.”
Monroe church of Christ, Georgia: Charles Harris (preacher) reports, “We have a study lined up, thanks to other members. A family had visited services and were blown away by the hospitality shown. After finding out the family homeschools their daughter, several members told them that my family does the same. Then those members came and told me about it. What impressed me about that was that members were trying to find common ground, and when it was found, they were concerned about using it correctly. Evangelizing certainly is a group effort.”
Skyways Hills church of Christ, Pearl, Mississippi: Andrew Rogers (preacher) reports, “Our congregation has an influential community benevolent program on Saturday once a month. I was asked to do the devotional this time, and I must have said something that sparked interest. Two people asked for my phone number; they wanted to know more. I asked for their numbers because people will have interest at first, but as you know, Satan will take away the word sown in their hearts (Mark 4:15).
“Sunday morning, I called both people around 8:30 to invite them to church. Then I spoke with Jamela about taking them out to lunch after church. They BOTH came to church that morning! Jamela and I took them out to lunch and discovered that Pam, one of the ladies, is a cancer survivor, and her husband had abandoned her while she was going through brain surgery. She thanked us with tears of joy! The other lady, Sandra, is a very religious person. During her devotion on Saturday, she had a question about what she read.
“We had good conversations about life and what we were doing in our lives. Jamela is good with keeping people open with meaningful conversation. Anyone who knows her loves her! After dinner, we prayed while standing outside the restaurant. Then I asked to study with both of them but at different times. Pam and Sandra agreed and were excited about learning more. Pam, Jamela, and I will have dinner at our house and have the first study this Wednesday. Sandra, Jamela, and I will have dinner and study this Friday.”
Canal Heights church of Christ, Demopolis, Alabama: Bryan Cook (preacher) reports, “This Sunday we finished the sermon series that takes the congregation through the Back to the Bible series. It was a challenge to make it fit a sermon style, but there were no complaints. We have regrouped on several aspects of the program to make sure that we are getting the most out of our work. We have two teams that alternate to stay after services to work on the card program. We have also moved our focus to setting up the compassion card program. We are a little late, but we needed the time to get our other systems in place. After services, we project the names and addresses on a screen that can be seen anywhere in the auditorium so those who are writing cards can access the information. Our group of devoted members is growing, and it is exciting to see the maturing of this congregation. We are spending much more time in prayer and effort going toward evangelism. The mindset is slowly changing to one of saving our community. Continue to pray for our efforts as we pray for all of you.”
Coldwater church of Christ, Kentucky: Luke Puckett (preacher) reports, “We made three in-home visits to families who are receiving our compassion cards. They all went very well. We stayed and talked with the first two for almost an hour, building a relationship with them. We plan to continue to visit and hope this leads to a study. The third family is one that we have been helping recover from the tornado. We have had them to the building several times and have built a good friendship with them. They have agreed to a study. We are trying to set it up around their work schedule and their rebuilding efforts. We continue to send out more compassion cards and work on our bookmark list to see if we can develop more prospects.”
East Main church of Christ, Murfreesboro, Tennessee: Brad Rowley (elder) reports, “June has been an exciting month for East Main. We rejoice in the baptism of five souls this month!
- Cade Williams was baptized May 27 by his dad Brian Williams. They have been studying with a Bible correspondence course by John Hurt.
- Emma Kwapinski was baptized June 15 by Dave Lucich. Emma has been studying with the entire Lucich family for some time. Dave and Christy met Emma at school.
- Houston Rowley was baptized by his grandfather, Brad Rowley, on June 15. They have been studying Christian evidence and the Does It Matterbooklet.
- Cody Brown was baptized by Ken Reese on June 29. Cody has been studying with Tim Hayes and Ken Reese with the Open Bible Study.
- Chelsea Lane was baptized by Brad Rowley on June 29. Chelsea fell away from the church; however, just like the prodigal son, she came to herself and realized what she needed to do. Chelsea is studying with Brad Rowley and Tim Hayes.
East Main has several on-going studies. We are also thankful to have started several new studies. We want to focus not only on new converts but also on those who have not attended services in a while.
- Gavin and Alundra Torino continue to study with Jon Mitchell, going through the Bible.
- Matt Carlson has completed the Back to the Bible series and Does it Matter lessons along with his girlfriend, Madison Stephens. Matt has been studying for some time with Brad and Gail Rowley.
- Cody Brown continues to study with Tim Hayes.
- Emma Kawpinski continues to study with the Lucich family.
- A new study is with Courtney and Tanutica Morris. Mark and Ryan Isenberg (father and son team) are studying the Back to the Bible series.
- A new study is with Chris and Jenny Saetveit, a young couple that has not attended regularly since COVID. John Mitchell and Brad Rowley are leading the study.
- A new study is with a young man who prefers to keep his name private at this time. He has not attended or opened his Bible for years. He is studying with Brad Rowley.
- A new study with Tristan and Amy Zerner is with Billy Taylor and Brad Rowley. The study has been going on for a couple weeks. They have been studying an introductory lesson and started book one in Back to the Bible.
- A new study started this week with Lainey Stroud and Jack Beeney with our pulpit minister Jon Mitchell. We are excited to see this young couple involved in a study.
The visitor strategy continues to be the greatest contributor of new contact cards. We are so thankful for those that diligently come to services early and welcome visitors. East Main averaged 56 compassion cards a week in the month of June. Compassion cards continue to open doors for in-home visits and Bible studies.
We reorganized the in-home visit teams during the month of June. We added an additional elder, Russell Cherry, and added a new team leader, Brian Williams. Brian will bring enthusiasm and energy to the group. Due to new contacts and the success of compassion cards, we have 25 in-home visits that need to be done in the month of July at this time.
David Brown (elder) along with Chris Taylor (deacon) met with our discipleship team this month to reassign volunteers to new converts. This is something we have needed at East Main for a while. We have some impressive folks helping us with this important aspect of evangelism. It is our goal to assure new converts get involved and grow into disciples.
We are so blessed with the members that participate in the evangelism program at East Main Deacons Jay Pugh, Chris Taylor, Jeremy Jones, and Tim Hayes have gone above and beyond in our evangelism program. Our pulpit minister presents faith-building sermons to help sustain this important work of the church. Please continue to pray for more opportunities. We are looking forward to our seminar at East Main with Rob Whitacre coming up in September.
NOTE: These reports are from Christians and congregations enrolled in the House to House/Heart to Heart School of Evangelism. These emails are sent to teach and provoke one another to remain focused on the mission of Christ. Each week, we share several reports and highlight one with more details. We hope you enjoy reading them.
