Fayette church of Christ, Alabama: Kaleb Hall (preacher) reports, “There is one Bible study ongoing. The first study was successful, and the study with booklet 2 has been scheduled. There are 12 names ready for compassion cards. Our evangelism table will be set up by Sunday. I will begin preaching from John 4 on Sunday.”
Honolulu church of Christ, Oahu, Hawaii: Tagiilima Ecene (preacher) reports, “Aloha from the Honolulu church of Christ. Our church has been active since the end of the seminar. We have set up our evangelism table, card room, and the congregational contact list. Chris, Bernice, and Prisca worked hard to set things up during the week to make things operational. We started our Card Ministry this past Sunday with five local contacts to reach. Members stayed after evening service to write cards to encourage and show our visitors that we care. Some of our new converts are already active in our card ministry. The highlight last week was that another soul was added to the church. Brian Longmore made the decision to put on Christ in baptism after studying the Does It Matter? booklet with our preacher (Lima). God is working with us, and we are excited as we continue to move forward.”
Aberdeen church of Christ, Maryland: Will Brown (preacher) reports, “God is good. This week at Aberdeen we completed the contact card database. The elders have completed filling out all the evangelism teams. The first set of compassion cards have been sent out, and the card team is scheduling a day to continue sending cards weekly. Also, several shut-ins this week were prospected and listed as contacts for potential Bible studies. In the next couple of weeks, those who want more specific training will learn how to use Back to the Bible.”
Cordova church of Christ, Tennessee: Bruce Hatcher (preacher) reports, “Today we had the joy of baptizing Elisa Torres into Christ. We first came know her through our outreach to a local elementary school around Christmas. We were looking for needy families to whom we might donate groceries. We added her to the compassion card list and helped her several times over the past months. She began attending services and making friends. I asked her one Sunday if she had any questions about her salvation, and she said she did. After a study of Does It Matter? she was ready to follow the Lord. This experience has been a great example of all the pieces coming together to save a soul and add a member to the body.”
New Hope church of Christ, Middleton, Tennessee: Cole Wade (preacher) reports, “The church has a Bible study coming in the third booklet of Back to the Bible! The couple who wants to study has been very active with us at church, and we are excited about the study! Our members have been working hard to get people into the building and to visit and make contacts. Hopefully, the third study with this couple will go well, and we will have two new siblings in Christ! Pray for us that God will be with us in the study and that He will open their hearts to receive His word!”
Northern Oaks church of Christ, San Antonio, Texas: Mel Hutzler (elder/preacher) reports, “We just finished the House to House mail out. We are sending it to those who live around our church building in order to gain more contacts. Our next step is to begin our New Movers Program. We have several members who are currently in Bible Studies and a few who are about to start book three. Our kids are at Bible Camp this week, but on our last Summer Youth Night we had over 200 people in attendance. We are finally sending out more cards, and it is a lot easier to take names from visitors compared to the past. It helps to be organized and have members trained. We have our VBS coming up next month and hope to use it for evangelism purposes.”
Covington church of Christ, Tennessee: Wayne Dalrymple (elder) reports, “This week’s report is full of excitement! On Saturday, we welcomed dozens of workers from several states to begin the American Mission Campaign. We are using what we learned about motivating and training members to teach the lost. On Sunday, we began knocking on doors. The heat has been intense, but that has not prevented us from making connections with people in the community. We have met several great contacts that we will begin to prospect. We have at least two potential Bible studies. I encourage everyone to participate in the next AMC in July in Knoxville! Apart from that, our preacher, Mike Rogers, is studying with Carl Knowlan. Mike told me tonight (Monday), that he is close to the kingdom. Please pray that all these efforts are successful.”
Chase Park church of Christ: Pat Cowden (preacher) reports, “Last week we rejoiced in the baptism of Joe Miller and asked for you to pray for him and us as we help him begin his walk with Jesus. After his baptism, Joe posted about his conversion on Facebook. One of his friends, Brad, responded by saying, ‘I want to be baptized.’ When I saw it, I messaged Joe and said, ‘If your friend Brad is serious, we need to set up a study with him.’ Joe messaged me back, ‘I already have for Thursday night.’ We had planned a new converts study with Joe on that night, so Brad came with him, and we had a great first study of ‘Does It Matter?’ last Thursday. Joe told me he has two other friends that are showing some interest. Less than one week after his baptism, Joe is already setting up studies because of his excitement about being in Christ. Please pray for our new study and potential two new studies and for Joe and his daughter Kayla. Now is a critical and exciting time in their walk.”
Mabelvale church of Christ, Arkansas: Daniel Webster (preacher) reports, “Had our second card team meeting last night. Cards have been going out. We have a gospel meeting this week. Several ladies signed up to be silent study partners for those who are not married.”
University church of Christ, Montgomery, Alabama: Austin Faires (elder) reports, “I wanted to let you know that I gave the three Back to the Biblebooklets to one of my Christian brothers that lives in Elgin, Illinois. He taught a basic Bible class, and one of the ladies in the class was not a member of the church. He set up a study with her and used the Back to the Bible booklets, and she was baptized a few weeks ago. Our brother Kevin Long and his wife Brittany have scheduled a door knocking this next week to invite families to our VBS scheduled for June 19-22. We pray for many contacts. In addition, we continue to pursue prospects through our New Movers Ministry.”
Eisenhower church of Christ, Odessa, Texas: Allen Weakland (preacher/elder) reports, “Let us all glorify our Heavenly Father. Once again, God has provided Eisenhower with a number of contacts. A young couple has started to attend morning services. They informed us that they have not attended any religious service since 2019. Their daughter stated that they needed to go to church, and they have attended for several weeks now. We hope that God will allow us the opportunity to prospect them. On another note, a new family has started to attend morning services. They have several family members who are members of the church, but the husband is not. Yet he is attending with his children and wife. He is slowly opening up, and we hope that God gives us the chance to have a Bible study with him. Please be praying for these two families and the Eisenhower congregation. We plant and water, but God gives the increase. To God be the glory.”
Paintsville church of Christ, Kentucky: Zach Collins (preacher) reports, “Many visitors are starting to come our way at the Paintsville church of Christ! This is a result of members talking to those in the community about the gospel. We also were blessed to send out 40 cards this week to those in need of a show of love and compassion. Soon we will have our first meeting with our elders and team leaders to see how we can make the methodology work more effectively in our congregation! As always, keep praying for us.”
Riverbend church of Christ, Georgia: Austin Fowler (member) reports, “Riverbend continues to strive in our evangelism efforts this week. Our SALT group number two met on Sunday evening to send cards. Participation was good, and a lot of people stayed to send cards to those on our congregation list. I am looking forward to Sunday when I will study the third booklet of in Back to the Bible with Terry.”
Woodstock church of Christ: Greg Garner (deacon) reports, “The Compassion Cards Group did an outstanding job in creating 21 compassion cards for this week for five individuals. As a result of their hard work, we have received numerous heartfelt “Thank you” cards and a promise to visit soon. We want to recognize the Compassion Card Team who is always early to arrive and ready to work.
“This is an exciting month for the New Movers Group. We received our first New Movers list totaling 52 addresses for the month of June. In preparation for the visits, the group created 50 more baskets to be handed out. The Visitation Group will deliver the New Movers Baskets this week. We also have 20 more visitor bags in the final stages of assembly. We conducted the second week of the seven-week Youth Prison Ministry Program. There are 13 anxious youths from ages 12 – 17 requesting to study the Bible. Nine of the 13 attended class last week. These kids are very appreciative that someone cares enough to take time to show them compassion and kindness. The Evangelism Program is ramping up. We have five Bible studies in progress. We are excited to see what the outcome will be with all the above efforts.”
Crossville church of Christ, Tennessee: Alan Judd (preacher) reports, “We are excited to report this week that Shawn Austin was obedient to the Gospel and baptized last week. I am including a picture of his baptism and a picture of the study group that helped with his conversion. He is a very conscientious young man who wants nothing more than to please the Lord. Another couple visited this past Sunday and expressed gratitude for the compassion cards they received. We hope to continue to cultivate them for a study. VBS is this week, and we are hoping to have many other prospects from this annual event. We continue to involve more people in our evangelism efforts and ask for God’s help, wisdom, and blessing on our efforts for Him!”
Oak Hill church of Christ, Rome, Georgia: Matt Wallin (deacon) reports, “Last year when we hosted the first AMC at Oak Hill here in Rome, several of our members felt equipped enough to do Bible studies, some for the first time. At the same time, a hundred Christians were going all over Rome door knocking and looking for prospects. That is a good combination.
“One of our members, Gale Goss, knocked on a door and met a lady who agreed to set up a study. Rod Selman and his cousin even helped her move. The first study went great! So did the second, and the third. But in the end, the woman decided not to become a Christian. That was a discouraging, but they did not give up. Gale even studied with her own neighbor, who was baptized.
“Fast forward to May of this year. The woman who decided not to become a Christian called Gale and said, ‘I have a friend named Myra who wants to be baptized.’ So, she did not become a Christian, but she knew enough from the studies with Gale to teach her friend! Gale called and set up an appointment with Myra. Myra wanted to be baptized that day, but Gale wisely said, ‘Well, we cannot just baptize you. We need to have a Bible study.’ Myra was embarrassed about her lack of Bible knowledge and said, ‘I don’t really know enough about the Bible to study it.’ Gale said, ‘Well, you will when we are done.’ How wise is that? (Side note: Myra said her apartment was too small to have everyone over, so they studied in her friend’s apartment. Now the friend has been through the study twice!)
“Once they started studying, Myra wanted to keep studying. They did all three studies in a week. At the end of the second study, last Tuesday night, Myra was baptized for the remission of her sins at the age of 86. The congregation welcomed her this Sunday.”
Westside church of Christ, Muncie, Indiana: Mike Gors (preacher) reports, “We have had two former members return to regular attendance. This is directly related to receiving cards. Also, one new/non-member specifically came today because she was so touched by receiving so many cards after her sister died. She said she felt welcomed and will likely return. There will be a follow up visit. We just finished 50 + cards to go out this week to four new prospects as we continue to build our list.”
Monroe church of Christ, Georgia: Charles Harris (preacher) reports, “We went out for our monthly door knocking. We visited the same area as last month, getting updates on previous prayer requests and also promoting our upcoming VBS. This work has slung the door of opportunity off its hinges concerning gathering contacts to prospect. No doubt there will be many added to the kingdom soon.”
Canal Heights church of Christ, Demopolis, Alabama: Bryan Cook (preacher) reports, “This last Saturday was our monthly door knocking day. We actually knocked on fewer doors but still managed 28 contacts. We really connected with many of these people and had much prayer time with people who were hurting. Our number of participants has also grown and has remained enthusiastic. It seems that we have a renewed love for our community, and that helps us to reach people with the gospel. Sunday, we continued our sermon series from the Back to the Bible book 2 and took the time to remind everyone why we are doing what we are doing. Our contact visitor section of our flow chart is coming up, and we are excited. I have never seen a congregation this excited about reaching the lost. Continue to pray for our efforts as we pray for yours.”
Highway church of Christ, Benton, Arkansas: Steven Ford (preacher) reports, “This week has presented some opportunities for observation and reset. We recognized a few areas that need improvement, and we are working to reorganize and renew our focus. This week our focus for compassion cards will be those who have recently undergone medical procedures. Additionally, we are having a elders/preachers meeting to determine how to improve our overall effectiveness and participation.”
Peninsula church of Christ, Virginia: Ben Phillips (preacher) wrote, “Two exciting things have happened for us over the past week. First, a woman we helped in our community through benevolence was present at our services Sunday. One of our elders and his wife picked her up and brought her. They are following up with her with plans to have a study as soon as possible. Second, our plans around an area-wide door knocking campaign are finalizing. We have a few smaller congregations in our area that need help to reach out to their communities. On August 6, we plan to go to the Smithfield congregation to help them door knock in their community by using the House to House door knocking edition. It is our hope that this will help the area congregations build their relationships with one another and encourage an increased focus on evangelism in our region. Peninsula plans to keep up the work we are doing in Hampton, but we also want to see growth for our sister congregations and a revitalization of evangelism locally.”
Deerfoot church of Christ, Birmingham, Alabama: Richard Harp (preacher) reports, “Jeffrey Howell is having a study with Alex Taylor; this is his second study with him. He is the son-in-law of one of our members. Paul Windham, one of our members, is studying with a client of his, along with her son. Richard is hoping to conclude the study with Pamela Duke. Her father passed away Saturday. Please pray for her as she is interested in the Gospel, but she has encountered a lot of challenges that have created roadblocks in our study.”
Shertz church of Christ, Texas: Jay Stewart (elder) reports, “This week at Schertz we continued our fellowship and work group program. We had a meal for visitors and a time to get to know each other better. It was another success! We also hosted the South Texas Summer Youth night. We had a massive 200-person showing with a great lesson on ‘Why Jesus?’ from Scott Springer. Many children from a half dozen congregations came and brought friends. It was very encouraging!”
