Must Read Report from Maryland

This past week was one of the best in the past two years regarding baptisms from congregations using the training provided by the House to House/Heart to Heart School of Evangelism. Twenty-one (21) baptisms were reported! Perhaps the most encouraging news came from Maryland where Brother Eric Sykes has been implementing the HTHSOE principles. His words will lift your spirits, so I have copied them below.

“My name is Eric Sykes. I’m over the evangelism ministry at the Suitland Road Church of Christ in Suitland, Maryland. We’re not a very large congregation . . . (less than 100 members). We purchased your Personal Evangelism Training Workbook last year along with the Updated & Advanced Personal Evangelism Training videos and the Back to the Bible Lessons 1-3 booklets.

I’m writing to you to say ‘Thank You’ for all that you’ve done. Because of the evangelism materials in the Back to the Bible lessons, we added 15 members to our church family over the past year . . . that’s a 15% increase in one year!!! And it wasn’t easy, considering the fact that our church building was severely damaged by a tornado and our congregation has been displaced since June 2019.

This is an amazing evangelism tool. It’s easy to use. We were able to teach these seven new converts the gospel using the Back to the Bible study method via zoom. Thanks again for all that you do!!! Attached are pictures of seven saints that we baptized between March and July of this year. Earm Moore is 83 years old. Vivian Jefferson is blind, and she’s 73. Right now, I’m in two active Bible studies …Both individuals are entering Lesson 2. In fact, we’re about to start one of the lessons in 10 minutes. Lift us up in prayer. Take care and God bless!!!”

Reports like this come in daily. We know COVID has been challenging to congregations and Christians in a variety of ways. During April and May reports of baptisms were almost non-existent. It was a dark and sad time for the gospel. I am thankful brethren have once again looked up and noticed the fields are white unto harvest (John 4:35).

In His Service,
Rob Whitacre, Director HTHSOE
