Reaching the Lost: Strategies For Success

One of the tools we use at HTHSOE is “Reaching the Lost” weekly reports. Early in the development of the school, we knew that accountability would be important to the overall success of the work. With over 50 congregations enrolling each year, providing customized training becomes more challenging. How do we keep up with each congregation?

Every Monday, we ask churches to send a report of the progress and results of the work. After reading reports, we can share your successes, make suggestions, schedule a virtual meeting, or even send a regional trainer to assist. Consider the following as you set up this part of the work.

• Appoint someone to send the reports.
• Ensure the reports are sent every Monday. Late reports will be pushed to the following week.
• Reports should be a few sentences, up to one paragraph. If you have had an exceptional week, we may ask you to write a longer report to use as the featured congregation.
• Be specific in reporting. We are looking for information that pertains to the HTHSOE six-step model.
• Unrelated evangelism stats should be avoided (attendance at a gospel meeting, Friends and Family Day, Vacation Bible School, or how many sister congregations attended).
• Include how many visitors attended, contacts created, and prospects placed on the list.
• Include how many cards you wrote for the week.
• Include the number of Bible studies and details about the studies that would provide a teaching moment for others.
• Include baptisms, always!
• Include information about your new converts class and families who are mentoring.
• Include information on any evangelism training.
• Pictures, Pictures, Pictures. Please take pictures of any and all aspects of the work and send them with your reports.

These reports are critical, so we ask you to include them in your regular routine for at least one year. We can only help if we are aware of the status of the work. We want you to hold us accountable, and these reports help us evaluate, improve, and add to the overall mission. If you have any questions, please reach out to me.
