Editor’s Note: John Garza serves as an HTHSOE regional trainer. He is modeling evangelism at the Colleyville church of Christ. In addition to mentoring two recent SWSBS graduates on how to evangelize, he is executing the model through the local congregation. This week, his report is a mirror image of how the New Testament church is designed to grow.

Featured Work: Colleyville Church of Christ, Milton, Texas

She Saw a Difference
Written by John Garza (preacher)

Today, the Colleyville congregation rejoices with our new sister in Christ—Kaitlyn Briganti—as she committed herself to Christ in baptism for the forgiveness of her sins and was added to the Lord’s body, His church. Her decision has been long in the making, with many members playing a role in bringing her to Christ.

Originally, she attended our worship with Stan and Deb Sears, because she knew they lived a different kind of life. After a few weeks, as the congregation was getting to know her, she had many questions about the Lord’s church and Christianity in general. John and Rachel Garza set up a time for her to come over, enjoy a meal, and study the Bible. Since the first study, we knew that it would be a process, because she had no background in the Word of God and no religion. As we studied the Back to the Bible books, she asked many honest, sincere questions that were relevant to the study. It took a couple of months to cover the BTTB books.

After Book 3, she clearly expressed that she knew what to do to become a Christian, but if she did it, she would not be doing it for the right reason, because she was uncertain about God, His Word, and Jesus Christ. So, we spent time studying the existence of God using Believe the Bible. Then we watched the World Video Bible School series on “The Canon of Scripture,” which blew her mind! She asked, “Why do other religions claim to have inspired Scriptures— for example, the Muslims and the Quran?” We watched the series on the Quran from WBVS again, and she loved it. That culminated in a discussion on “The Evidence for Jesus.” During the months of study, the congregation poured love into her life, as she attended almost every Sunday with us.

Many evenings were spent with her in fellowship—hanging out, playing games, and enjoying meals—and so much more! This all led to her decision to attend Camp Ida. She said right before her decision, “I have never felt so welcome in a place and by people this way before. I am appreciative and happy to be here and to continue studying. I had been strongly considering being baptized. Overall, my life has changed A LOT since I started attending the church with people I now call my friends and studying with you and your wife . . . in the past six months, I have NEVER been so happy.” All of those experiences culminated in her decision to obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To God be the glory!

Congregational Reports

Welcome Aberdeen church of Christ, Mississippi: We welcome the Aberdeen church of Christ to the House to House/Heart to Heart School of Evangelism. Their preacher has been using BTTB with success.  The congregation has workers. The elders will lead an effort to incorporate evangelism to become congregational. Pray for them.

Glencoe church of Christ, Alabama: Keith Ritchie (evangelist) reports, “This week began with a transition Sunday at the Glencoe church of Christ in Alabama. One Bible study was set up with a lady on our transition list. We have another transition Sunday coming up this Sunday. In two more weeks, we will have our VBS. Lord willing, we will have more visitors. Glencoe now has seven studies in progress. Our door-knocking teams are working hard to make contacts and set up studies. We are also busy delivering new movers’ baskets. The elders meet with workers and lead by example. Continuing steadfastly in the work produces fruit. To God be the glory.”

Central church of Christ, Saraland, Alabama: David Dixon (preacher) reports, “Evangelism takes many forms. My wife and daughter are in Peru on a medical mission trip. My wife informed me she conducted her first personal Bible study. She is there as a nurse. Meanwhile, we have had several returning visitors over the last few weeks and months. After talking with one couple, they agreed to a Bible study on Sunday afternoon. The truth was obvious; it was accepted, and it was obeyed. Darrell Lee was baptized for the remission of his sins, and Tiffini Phillips was restored through repentance and prayer. It was the fifth baptism we have had this year, but the first since January. We have learned that we may go through droughts, but the fruit develops quickly. God be praised!”

Cedar Grove church of Christ, Andalusia, Alabama: Josh Holloway (preacher) reports, “We have had a busy week of VBS, but we were able to work through our evangelism model also. Last week, we had a contact card that was turned in, and we went to visit. The card resulted in two families attending with us. The grandmother is attending constantly. She brought all of her grandchildren to VBS. She has jumped right in. She shared a meal with us and has been attending every service. We reviewed the first book of Back to the Bible the first Sunday that she started attending our worship service. One of our members sat with her, helped her fill in her card, and ensured she had all the material to take home. This past week, she was excited to start the second book on the church. She is going through a Bible study in the pews and working through the study at home. She has already learned so much. We request prayers for Nina and her soul. She seems to be perfect soil. We also have three other regular Bible studies. Also, since it is camp season, two of our young people are at the evangelism camp at Backwoods Christian Camp this week. They are learning how to use the Back to the Bible material and practicing on one another this week so that we can bring back that zeal to our home congregation.”

Hartselle church of Christ, Alabama: Justin Smith (preacher) reports, “At Hartselle, the evangelism effort is continuing. The big event for June is our Vacation Bible School at the end of the month. We look forward to implementing some of the plans that come with the School of Evangelism on how to best leverage this event. We are already spending time in prayer for the follow-up interactions with the many visitors we will have that week. Currently, our initial training is continuing, and we are rounding out our first prospect list. To God be the glory!”

Highland Park church of Christ, Muscle Shoals, Alabama: Andrew Myhan (deacon) reports, “Our congregation is in the process of prospecting four new people this week. We appreciate all prayers for these efforts along with prayers for ongoing Bible studies.”

Hatton church of Christ, Town Creek, Alabama: Chris Miller (preacher) reports, “Our local effort continues to do well with significant participation in the compassion cards, visits, and studies. We also have plans underway for our youth to go to Oklahoma to work with Keno Shrum. They will help with VBS and also set up studies with the congregation there. It is a huge encouragement to network with many working in this effort! To God be the glory!”

Petersville church of Christ, Florence, Alabama: Adam Richardson (preacher) reports, “The Petersville church of Christ is ready for Vacation Bible School. We have sent more than 500 invitations to the community. Contacts received information in the mail, and members have been handing out postcards for a month. Hopefully, we will make many new contacts with our outreach in this way. We also recently delivered nine new mover baskets to community members and added several names to the compassion cards list. We have ordered more cards and continue to process those. We are sending them to seven households this week. There was one response from a wayward member who returned after neglecting the assembly for nearly a year, and we are still encouraging two couples with children to follow through with their interest in having a Bible study.”

Creekwood church of Christ, Mobile, Alabama: Tucker Presley (preacher) reports, “We still have one study ongoing. Cards are being sent out to new and old prospects weekly. New names are being added to the list regularly. We have established a greater online presence via our website and social media. We want people to see that we are an active, loving congregation. Unfortunately, Viktoria, whom we baptized into Christ earlier this year, has not connected with the church since her baptism. It has been a while since we have seen her, but she was able to study this past Thursday with David and Casey. We still have not started the new mover’s plan. We need to take the next steps on that.”

Mountain Home church of Christ, Arkansas: Joshua Adams (preacher) reports, “The summer is here in full force, and like many congregations, we are gearing up for events such as Bible camp and Vacation Bible School. On both fronts, our congregation is stepping up in amazing ways to help utilize these formative events for local evangelism. Our Youth Minister, Chris Brill, does an amazing job with our youth and has a large number of unchurched kids from the community attending our youth events. Because of this, there are a dozen kids who want to go to Bible camp but cannot afford it. Our church family stepped up in a huge way, providing scholarships for these kids in need. Additionally, we decided to expand our VBS land by having a block party after the last night in order to spend time with the parents of kids who typically drop their kids off instead of staying for class themselves. We will have their addresses and send compassion cards, but we wanted more time to meet and visit with them. We are excited for these changes. We have three Bible studies ongoing, with hopefully more on the way. The morning compassion card team wrote 130 cards for 21 people on Sunday night!”

Windsor church of Christ, Colorado: Lucas Stephens (member) reports, “One of our members just had a second Bible study with one of our compassion card recipients. This week, we are preparing for our outreach cookout in the park. We shared 200 flyers for the event for our local church neighborhood on Saturday. We also added flyers to our new mover baskets. We look forward to having a great event this Saturday.”

Margaret Street church of Christ, Milton, Florida: Troy Spradlin (preacher) reports, “We are excited to have more new Bible studies set up! While we have been consistent with our compassion cards and pew greeters, our Bible studies have stagnated over the past few weeks. That changed recently on several fronts. First, our elders have set up a study with a visiting couple who want to place membership with our congregation. One is a member of the church, and the other was baptized in a denomination. The elders are going to study BTTB with them to show them the biblical pattern. Second, a young couple is getting married soon, and the bride-to-be is a member of the church while the groom was raised in a denomination. We set up a study of BTTB with them to help him see what the Bible teaches. Third, we have sent out cards and an introduction to Bible Correspondence courses to many of our contacts that we received through our Pantry Ministry. We now have had one visitor from those efforts and two Bible Correspondence Course responses! To God be the glory! Our current 2025 Year-to-Date Accountability Board numbers are: 170 Contacts received; 41 Visitors; 124 Neighbors (Prospects whom we have loved and/or studied with); 41 Bible studies (total completed); 1,375 Compassion Cards sent; and nine baptisms.”

Lake Forest church of Christ, Jacksonville, Florida: Brian Howard (preacher) reports, “We had another good Sunday with several visitors. Two separate men placed membership. I had a Bible study with a woman who has been in the Baptist church her entire life, serving as a ‘pastor’ with her late husband for over 50 years. She is frustrated with where the Baptist church is going and is searching for a church that goes by the Bible. We have almost finished Book 1 of BTTB, and we will study again in two weeks when I return from a trip.”

Niceville church of Christ, Florida: Joe Palmer (preacher) reports, “On Sunday night, a member who was sitting in the back told me that we ran out of communion cups. Why does that matter? It is a sign of growth. God is good, and we are growing. On Sunday, three families visited. One family placed membership last week, and another this week. One of our Elders told me that they had a special prayer for new workers. People who were already Christians could assist us with the work. As Jesus said, ‘The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest’ (Luke 10:2 NKJV). We already have one of the young ladies involved in teaching VBS this year. I asked a young man to help with the teen boys’ class. He will be a great asset because he is only about 20 and can relate well to these young men. Another young man who placed membership this week volunteered to lead singing. On Sunday night, we had some visitors and set up some studies for this week. We mailed out 24 cards and had two studies. Tonight, I had 18 people crowded into my little living room for a study; among them were new members and young families. God is good.”

Avalon church of Christ, Florida (remote): Preston Silcox (elder) reports, “We have had a few busy and productive weeks. By hosting an end-of-school event, a friends and family day, one of three Thursday night classes on ‘How to Study Your Bible,’ and a monthly Moms’ Morning In, we were able to add at least seven families to our prospects list this week. Sunday was another good day with six returning visitors, including some with whom we are having regular Bible studies.”

Edgewood church of Christ, Columbus, Georgia: Mitchell Deering (deacon) reports, “This week marks the beginning stages of our House to House Evangelism Program implementation. Here is a brief summary of our progress. We have conducted three Bible studies, using the visitor class as a key resource. We began using Week 1 of the sermon series for the Sunday morning sermon. Bookmarks were distributed to the congregation to encourage daily engagement and reinforce the evangelism focus. I am currently in the process of filling key roles within the program, which will allow us to collect more accurate data and measure effectiveness going forward. I expect to have more detailed numbers and updates in next week’s report as more pieces of the program are put in place.”

Lafayette church of Christ, Georgia: Jesse Teague (deacon) reports, “We had a consistent crowd at VBS last week. Each night, the kids learned about a young person in the Bible who made a big difference. They also heard the plan of salvation every night before and after class. They repeated each night that true success was getting to heaven, and that God’s plan for marriage was one man and one woman for life. They loved to hear and repeat these truths! If we do not instill these facts in their minds, who will?”

Cartersville church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Charles Harris (regional trainer) reports, “Scott asked for Virginia to be put on our Compassion Card list. Virginia received cards for three weeks. We then went to visit and set up a Bible study, but we could not catch her at home. We had a Youth Devotional a week later, and Virginia was invited to bring her two children. She came and began visiting services where she was warmly greeted, which led to Bible studies and her baptism into Christ. Congregational evangelism is real. Virginia and many other saved souls in Cartersville are proof.”

Woodstock church of Christ, Georgia: Larkin Cook (member) reports, “The WCOC congregation attended the Sunabella of Towne Lake Assistant Living devotional on Sunday. They had eight non-Christian attendees. The Prison Ministry Group is talking with the Correctional Detention Center about using their chapel for Zoom-like live Bible classes and worship services. We are drafting a proposal to submit to the Commissioners / Superiors. The Compassion Cards Group sent compassion cards this week. WCOC had nine non-Christian visitors this Sunday morning. We also had nine Bibles studies last week.”

Collinsville-Troy church of Christ, Illinois: Jason Wright (elder) reports, “This has been a busy week as we prepare for VBS. We mailed out 105 compassion cards and distributed invitation cards to the congregation on Sunday morning. We gave out two visitor bags on Sunday. Our New Christians’ class is still going well. Our clothing closet will be open on Tuesday. We had at least two Bible studies this week.”

Judah church of Christ, Bloomington, Indiana: Joe Moon (preacher) reports, “We continued cards to a couple of contacts. Two of our prospects visited on Sunday and stayed for our fellowship meal. We are more organized now, and we have set a time for visiting prospects. We continue to be encouraged by following the model.”

Highland Village church of Christ, Bloomington, Indiana: Mark Stauffer (elder) reports, “Highland Village has sent 22 cards so far in June. We made three visits and have two prospects. There have been three visitors to our services. This week, our training covered introductory questions when first meeting a new contact. We have also emphasized how God provides results when we obey His commands. God expects us to be active in reaching out to the lost, but He gives the increase.”

Beloit church of Christ, Kansas (remote): Dustin Dougherty (regional trainer) reports, “Sunday morning, I preached through the first half of Book 1 of Back to the Bible. As part of continual congregational evangelism training, I will preach through each of the three BTTB booklets periodically over the coming months. Some of the ladies took part in a Ladies’ Day in Salina and said they really enjoyed it. The men had a Men’s Bible study on Saturday morning. Though we only had a few who attended, we had a great study and fellowship together. We sent some compassion cards out at the end of last week; I pray they brighten the day of those who receive them. To God be the glory.”

Madisonville church of Christ, Kentucky: Russell Kline (preacher) reports, “We had nine visitors last Sunday, including five from the baseball team I mentioned in last week’s report. We have three correspondence courses in progress. We will be doing another round of visitation next week.”

Poole church of Christ, Kentucky: Andrew Wynne (preacher) reports, “We continue our efforts in sending out cards to the new movers in our community. We also continue our study through the Back to the Bible, Book 3. As a congregation, we are planning for our VBS scheduled for June 28. We appreciate all prayers.”

Central church of Christ, Paducah, Kentucky: Adam Faughn (preacher) reports, “We are excited that the study with April and her husband Jacob is progressing. This past week, they finished Book 2, and they are ready to move to Book 3 this week. Rebecca began her study this week, completing Book 1, and a study of Book 2 is scheduled for this week. All of these studies are going very well, and we are prayerful for each one. Our VBS went quite well. Our number of adult guests was not what we would have liked, but we had a lot of kids from the community, and follow-ups are ongoing. We made pictures of each of the children, which are being delivered in person with follow-up information about the church and youth activities. Lots of good things are going on, and we continue to pray for open doors!”

Gonzales church of Christ, Louisiana: Patrick Adkins (deacon) reports, “Our morning sermon was the first part of Book 1 of Back to the Bible. We announced again after the morning service to turn in the contacts that have recently lost a loved one. The afternoon sermon was about new movers’ basket training, and then after the service, we had our first group write compassion cards. We are at eight baptisms for the year and will have a new count on the cards sent next week! We seem to have more participants than ever; to God be the glory!”

Chalmette church of Christ, Louisiana: Scott Russell (member) reports, “Studies continue. We sent out approximately a dozen cards this past week, and to God’s glory, we had one baptized into Christ! Her name is Denise Thomas, resulting from a ‘New Movers’ contact!”

Aberdeen church of Christ, Maryland: Will Brown (preacher) reports, “We have streamlined our card-sending process. As a result, we have seen an increase in return visitors. Additionally, our new Christians have invited close friends to church, leading to four Bible studies this month. We are encouraged to see several members interested in joining the specialized Bible study team to help meet this growing need. We maintain our accountability boards and Bible study schedule and remain open and welcoming to our community. Finally, we are once again working to ensure that Vacation Bible School (VBS) is evangelistic in focus.”

La Plata church of Christ, Maryland (remote): Eric Sykes (regional trainer) reports, “We wrote 20 compassion cards this week. A family of five placed membership; they have been worshipping with us for several months. We also had three repeat visitors. We have four names on our prospect list. Currently, we have six open Bible studies; four are local studies and two are conducted via Zoom. We completed training with our ‘Video of the Week’ class on Book 3 of Back to the Bible. We plan to start training on Does it Matter this Friday. Seventeen people attended our Wednesday night Growing in Christ study; we finished Chapter 4. Our Sunday morning Bible study class is entering its third lesson in Why I Am a Member of the Church of Christ. We appreciate all prayers as we strive to implement the evangelism model and share the Gospel in our community.”

Beltway church of Christ, Camp Springs, Maryland: LeAndre Johnson (preacher) reports, “Last Wednesday, we geared up on ‘Making It Operational.’ We discussed ways to greet visitors so we can make them feel wanted and appreciated. We also discussed our upcoming Gospel meeting and how we could get everyone’s participation. Not everyone has to teach, but everyone has to do something. We also had 14 volunteers to be teachers or silent partners. On Sunday, we trained for studies by using Book 1 of Back to the Bible.”

Marshall church of Christ, Missouri (remote): Charles Reid (preacher) reports, “On Sunday, I taught an evangelistic lesson from Philippians 1:5 about the fellowship in the Gospel. After class, two of our brothers were talking about going door-knocking this week. That was encouraging, and I hope and pray it will be fruitful.”

Iuka church of Christ, Mississippi: Sam Glover (preacher) reports, “The third week of a dedicated Bible study is expected to go smoothly. Cards were sent out. Our monthly food giveaway is this week, opening doors to invite and connect, but also to spread word about our VBS at the end of the month. I’m going to reach out to ministers in the area to coordinate putting together an effort to specifically door knock and canvas for that. Progress is slow but certain, and the Lord is good.”

New Concord church of Christ, New Hampshire (remote): Shane Belanger (member) reports, “Last Tuesday, Terry and I conducted Lesson 1 of Back to the Bible with a man named of Justin. We had a meal together and had a great time studying. We quickly learned something about Justin. He is a rapid and concise learner. We went through Lesson 1 in one sitting. We hope to continue our study with him this week with Lesson 2. We have a new Christian class with two young men Monday afternoon. We also have three others involved in the new Christian class during the remainder of this week. Our evangelistic studies on Wednesday and Sunday are going well with the congregation. This Friday, we are getting together at our home to fellowship and conduct an evangelistic event. We just finished our training and are reaching out to our visitors. We will be doing some role-playing together and having a good time.  We all continue to look forward to great learning together.”

East Flushing church of Christ, New York (remote): Clarence Jenkins (preacher) reports, “We and the angels in Heaven are rejoicing now that Jamie Wong was added to the Lord’s spiritual family as our sister. Jamie received the lessons diligently with an open, understanding heart. She also cheerfully and enthusiastically participated in Bible classes and consistently began attending worship services on Sunday. She obeyed the Gospel on Sunday, June 8, 2025; to God be the glory. She has already encouraged us; we are so happy that she is a part of our spiritual family here at East Flushing. Our metrics thus far, for and through the month of June, are three baptisms, 39 compassion cards, 15 prospects, two Bible studies, and two new converts. We appreciate all prayers.”

New Concord church of Christ, Ohio: Terry Townsend (preacher) reports, “The Heavens rejoice as Ron Foraker obeyed the Gospel Sunday morning (see picture). He has been attending for years but has never obeyed. There are folks just like him in every congregation (low-hanging fruit). Do not stop praying and working with them! Also, various members of the congregation signed 17 compassion cards that will be mailed this week. They are being sent to the last two months of new movers who received welcome baskets. The cards have a special invitation to our upcoming ‘Friends and Family Day.’ Additionally, one of our very first new mover basket recipients attended services on Sunday. They had received their basket over a year and a half ago, along with two follow-up visits. Throughout the course of time, they were added to our compassion card list and received various cards. They made the decision to begin looking for a new church home and decided to visit with us. They were warmly received and welcomed. They were also given a welcome gift. They stayed around after services, and many members spoke to them. Their words to me were, ‘You will see us next Sunday!’ We pray this leads to a future Bible study.”

East Sparta church of Christ, Magnolia, Ohio (remote): Andrew Masterson (preacher) reports, “We are very excited to report we had two baptisms this week. They will be starting our first New Convert class. Our coordinators are all assigned, excited, and starting training in their new roles. We are planning a door-knocking event soon, and our Prospect List is starting to grow.”

Owasso church of Christ, Oklahoma: David Combs (elder) reports, “We completed our study of Book 2 and started Book 3 of Back to the Bible, taught by Dan Schnell, our pulpit minister. Before closing our morning service, Tim Bowman, our ‘Spark Plug,’ led us in prayer for the people on our bookmarks and the success of the evangelism effort. On Sunday evening, we continued our card training with a lesson on invitation cards and their importance. Following the evening services, Team 2 gathered in the annex for a card-writing session. Sixteen card writers wrote 75 cards to be received by five people this week. We currently have five Bible studies on going, three of which are a result of compassion cards. Leaders meet on Wednesday evening before Bible study to discuss our progress and to hand out transition visits to be made on Thursday or Friday.”

Whispering Hills, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma: Matt McBrayer (preacher) reports, “The congregation continues to grow. Another couple placed membership with us. We continue to have visitors who come and continue to attend for several weeks at a time. We see the SOE method working in several of its aspects, but we have had the most success in our visitors program. We keep honing in on perfecting this aspect of our work, as it has been so successful for us. In addition to this, we continue to send compassion cards each week, averaging around 55 cards per week. This week, we had eight visitors, but two of those placed membership. We have one Bible study scheduled for this week and are starting to shift our evangelistic focus to working on VBS.”

Coweta church of Christ, Oklahoma: Keno Shrum (regional trainer) reports, “Last Thursday evening, some of us met for training on mentorship. We are working on plans for our VBS. We are excited for a group of teenagers from the Hatton, Alabama, church of Christ to join us in July to help us out. We plan to market it and heavily use it as a contact creator. Jamie and I are in Kansas this week, but we have dinner and a Bible study scheduled for Friday evening when we return home. Dustin and Recole are also very close to a Bible study with a visitor who received our compassion cards. They have shared several meals with him, and he is showing interest in a study. He has been back to worship twice since receiving the compassion cards just a few weeks ago.”

Sullivan Village church of Christ, Lawton, Oklahoma: Steven Hill (preacher) reports, “Sullivan Village is working to re-establish their evangelism program by collecting contacts, writing cards, and utilizing the various avenues for reaching new movers, visitors, and neighbors. We have a couple of new visitors; we hope to study with them soon. We are thankful to be involved in God’s work.”

Arlington church of Christ, Tennessee: Brandon Tibbits (preacher) reports, “We are at two weeks of the curriculum. We are prospecting four people, and we have our evangelism table set up! Things are going really well! We appreciate the love, prayers, and encouragement.”

Stewarts Creek church of Christ, Smyrna, Tennessee: Jon McCord (deacon) reports, “Last night we had our New Movers training class. Greg is going to move the three sermons/classes for Back to the Bible to Wednesday night. We are working to order invitation cards and also sign up for the New Movers program.”

Mountain Creek church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee: Michael Tomshack (elder) reports, “Gary Massey, Elder and Minister, continues a study with the husband of a young family who have been worshiping with us for a few months. On Sunday, a young adult woman visited for the second time, attending the young adult class and then worship. She was invited to the Connect Group meeting that evening, which is primarily made up of young adults and hosted at an Elder’s home. She expressed a desire to study the Bible, so schedules are being arranged to begin a personal Bible study. She also inquired about Wednesday night Bible classes and will be attending those, as work permits. As a follow-up from last week, the young adult woman who is a new Christian attended a personal get-to-know-you meeting and requested more study, which has been scheduled for this week. She also attended the Connect Group meeting. From my observations, young adult women also seek a truth that stands the test of time. Having been dissuaded by the broad category of Christianity due to fallible men and women not teaching and living the entire truth, they are finding that the world is not offering a genuine solution. Consequently, they are once again seeking a genuine foundation that only God can provide. As Elders, Deacons, Ministers, Teachers, and members of the Body of Christ, we are given an opportunity to rectify some erroneous teachings and life standards with the complete message of Christ, in a loving manner without compromising the truth of God’s Word. Young people, as well as those more mature by age, are more easily dissuaded when they observe a misalignment between teaching and personal actions versus what they can read in Scripture. Some questions require time to answer, such as evil and suffering. However, we must lovingly and patiently build the foundation of understanding God’s nature and the power of the cross to elucidate God’s Word while maintaining humility in our responses, acknowledging that we do not possess all the answers. A flippant response is a quick route to terminating future study and relationship building.”

Grundy Street church of Christ, Tullahoma, Tennessee: John Duncan (elder) reports, “Our start date will be June 22. We are preparing behind the scenes to ensure we are organized and able to train the membership. We are praying each day for God to bless our evangelism efforts. Both John and Anderson have been presenting lessons on how everyone has a talent that can be used in this process.”

Ocoee Street church of Christ, Copper Hill, Tennessee: R.E. Vann (elder) reports, “‘The Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.’ Brother Spencer had been studying with an old friend for several weeks and was baptized this past Saturday. We request prayers for brother Lewis as he begins his journey with Jesus. To God be the glory.”

McEwen church of Christ, Tennessee: John Jones (preacher) reports, “We are having VBS this week and have a large number of new contacts, even some who have requested Bible studies on the registration sheet. We will prioritize them and hope to meet some of them soon!”

Chapel Hill church of Christ, Tennessee: Matt Jones (deacon) reports, “Our VBS kicked off last night with the theme ‘GO’ from the great commission. The kids are looking at examples of those who went in an effort to share the good news. We had many visitors who registered to attend and were there last night. We met many of them and welcomed them. Brother Bill Watkins is also teaching the adult class and doing a great job there. I hope to have more to report concerning the contacts we have received in the coming weeks.”

Cookeville church of Christ, Tennessee: Jonathan Medley (elder) reports, “We are continuing to send cards to the seven new prospects from last week. We have another Bible study scheduled for tomorrow night with Jared. A young man from the community walked to our services on Sunday. He has just moved to town to work on his PhD at Tennessee Tech. He did not have a car, so he walked to the closest congregation, which was a great opportunity for us!”

Philadelphia church of Christ, Lebanon, Tennessee (remote): Alex DeGraves (associate preacher) reports, “Three people wrote cards for yesterday, one of which is a member whom we have not seen in a while. Additionally, one of our elders has a study scheduled for Wednesday. As a congregation, we also have a visitation day this Friday, which we hope will bear fruit.”

Soddy church of Christ, Tennessee: Joe Mallory (preacher), “Praise God from whom all blessings flow! God is answering our prayers in numerous ways. We have made personal contact with many on our individual ‘Who is my neighbor?’ bookmarks this past week. Four Bible studies have been conducted, and follow-up studies will be scheduled this week as well. Vacation Bible School will begin next Monday (6-16), and our prayer is to meet many contacts, whom we hope will become prospects. We are thankful to God for the ministry of the House to House School of Evangelism, which has blessed us with continued support and instruction. We appreciate prayers for our evangelistic efforts as we continue our focus on reaching souls!”

Collierville church of Christ, Tennessee: Justin Evergarden (evangelist) reports, “Sunday we began going through the Back to the Bible (BTTB) series during our morning services. The excitement among the congregation is palpable as the pieces start to come together, and we are encouraged by the progress we see. This past Sunday, we welcomed two visitors, whom we invited to share a meal with us. They also received our visitor welcome bags, which included some thoughtful items to make them feel more at home. It was a joy to see the congregation come together to show hospitality and kindness. This week, we will begin our one-on-one training sessions with the evangelism coordinators. We are excited to equip them with the tools they need to succeed in their roles and help advance the work of evangelism in our community. We appreciate all prayers and support as we strive to grow the Kingdom and stay focused on the mission.”

Blackman church of Christ, Murfreesboro, Tennessee (remote): Brian McCord (member) reports, “We have sent out over 100 cards and letters in the last two weeks. We delivered our first new mover basket tonight and had a favorable visit. We did not have any visitors this week, and we do not have any studies, but will continue to plant and water.”

Hillcrest church of Christ, Springfield, Tennessee: Tim Taylor (evangelist) reports, “We had more than twenty visitors this past week. Two of our visitors were new, so we gave them visitor bags and gathered their contact information. We had another baptism this week! Hudson was baptized into Christ on Wednesday, after Bible study!”

Birdwell Chapel church of Christ, Cottontown, Tennessee: Kerry England (elder) reports, “We had several visitors again Sunday. We have three new contacts to whom we will begin sending cards. Compassion Card Team one met Sunday evening and will be mailing eighteen cards this week. We have a Bible study set for Thursday night! We are praying for this study and are hopeful it will be successful.”

Rivergate church of Christ, Madison, Tennessee: Doug Tooley (preacher) reports, “We had four visitors Wednesday evening, 16 on Sunday morning, and 12 on Sunday night. Our VBS started on Sunday, and we had a meal on Sunday evening. Hopefully, we will have some good prospects from this week.”

White Oak church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee (remote): John McGiffin (preacher) reports, “Several visitors have returned. They brought two more with them. Another visitor has committed to bringing his friends. We provided lunch for the visitors. We are preparing for our booth at the local Founder’s Day celebration. We have created a tabletop tract distribution holder and have filled it.  We have gathered copies of House to House. We will be displaying a centurion helmet and sword, promoting our Bible Lands exhibit scheduled for August 1-4. We will be distributing Family and Friends Day cards, which we designed this past week. Don Blackwell will be presenting lessons on Heaven on September 7. We are trying to secure a plinko board or prize spin wheel to attract the children with candy or other free prizes. We will also have our Bible Correspondence Coordinator there to sign up anyone interested.  And of course, I’m trying to find contacts.  We will pass out free water and ask introductory questions, including… “Do you live locally?”, “What do you do for a living?”  “Do you have a home church?”  If all other efforts fail, we will simply pass out invitation cards.  The event is scheduled for the 21st, and we are concentrating our efforts.”

Howe church of Christ, Texas: Aaron Alsbrook (preacher) reports, “We began making visits to those who have been receiving compassion cards. One of our visitation teams set up a Bible study. Two of our other teams were not as successful, but we will keep sending cards monthly to them, and someone will visit again. However, the clothing drive that we had yielded three new contacts, for which we are excited. Our kids were at camp all week, and two of our young men put the Lord on in baptism. We continue to work the HTHSOE plan and are encouraged weekly by hearing members reaching out and trying to make contacts.”

Fruitvale church of Christ, Texas: Carl McCann (elder) reports, “After much effort by many members, Mike and Sherri Cates obeyed the Gospel. We are grateful for their decision and thank God for the power of His Word.”

Wheeler church of Christ, Texas: Garrett English (preacher) reports, “Every study I have tried to set up was pushed to a later date, but I will press on. Our first day of VBS was today. Each week fluctuates, and we pray there will be plenty next week. Cards continue to be sent and are received well. I plan to visit one prospect soon.”

Abingdon church of Christ, Virginia: Freddie Klein (evangelist) reports, “We are continuing to send out compassion cards, and we are seeing results. One surprising result is how many prospects send cards to us! They regularly express their thankfulness for our love and concern in their time of difficulty. We have a number of Bible studies going on now, and we are seeing visitors from our community as well. We are excited for the change happening inside the Body and in our community.”

Williamsburg church of Christ, Virginia: Jim Bishop (elder) reports, “As we move into warmer weather and higher humidity, more people enjoy being outside. That provides an opportunity to meet the people who live in the apartment complexes located around our church building. A team of two will provide cold water, church information, contact cards, and the Gospel to those out and about. Many walk to local stores, exercise, walk their dogs, and travel to and from the bus stops. We are planning two other outreach events in the coming months. This week we had one Bible study and one visitor who has moved to the area. We pray for all those who are working to spread the Gospel and opportunities for them to reach the lost.”

Westside church of Christ, Salem, Virginia: Jeff Durham (elder) reports, “Our new quarter of Bible classes began in June. As we study the book of Proverbs, we are examining the many wise, insightful passages that encourage us on many topics. Yesterday, we focused on fear, which can be a negative thing (False Evidence Appearing Real) that might deter us from sharing the Gospel or keep us from other acts of service. It can also serve as motivation to follow God’s will to share His truths that allow others to know what He would have us do to have godly fear (i.e. respect), obey Him, and the hope of eternity with Him.”
