Featured Work: La Plata Church of Christ, MarylandEditor’s Note: Eric Sykes serves as a regional trainer for HTHSOE. He and his wife are dedicated to training the saved to reach the lost. They are evangelists! Each week, I read his detailed report and see the hours of work they are investing in La Plata. Months can go by without any conversions, just as trees take time to bloom, produce fruit, and ripen. This week, the fruit ripened, and two souls were baptized. We submit his report for your consideration. A Demonstration of the Evangelism Model We had a great week here at the La Plata church of Christ. We continue to train the congregation weekly. Last Tuesday, we had two baptisms, both of which demonstrated the effectiveness of the evangelism model. Kate, our first new sister, came to La Plata church of Christ after visiting a local bakery where we recently started leaving stacks of our House to House/Heart to Heart Newsletters. Brother McFarland, the owner of the bakery is a member of the Body, and he has visited the congregation several times. When Kate told him that she was looking for a good church home but had some questions, he referred her to the La Plata church of Christ. On Kate’s first visit, Sandy saw her standing in the parking lot looking lost. Sandy introduced herself and asked if she needed any help. Kate said she was looking for the church and for Eric Sykes. After worship we took Kate and her boys out to lunch. She asked for a Bible study. Sandy and Cynthia studied with Kate, and she obeyed the Gospel. Our other new sister is Elsie. Brother Swift, a local life insurance agent who visited La Plata church of Christ a little over a year ago, brought Elsie with him and his family to worship service. We have been prospecting Elsie ever since. We have shared meals with her, delivered meals to her home, and visited with her home multiple times. We helped her rearrange her furniture and make minor home repairs. We picked her up for Bible study and worship service. My granddaughter, Sandy, and Cynthia completed Lessons 1 and 2 of BTTB with Elsie. We invited her to attend our advanced teacher training class on Tuesday night, where we were training the class on How to Close the Study. We switched the study to Lesson 3 of BTTB, and it worked. It was Angie’s first time teaching and seeing a conversion, live and in-person. God is Good! Our Compassion Card Team wrote 34 compassion cards. We had five repeat visitors. We had 11 folks attend the video of the week training class titled: “Once Saved, Always Saved,” addressing questions from one of our new converts. We have assembled 13 new mover baskets. Four folks attended our new convert training classes this week: one in Beginning for Our Confidence, two in Growing in Christ, and one in the Acts Workbook. It takes time to train, equip, and execute evangelism within a congregation. We must stay focused on soul-winning, or the congregation will drift away from her Mission. Please keep us lifted up in prayer as we continue to strive to evangelize the community of La Plata. Congregational ReportsWelcome Lake Forest church of Christ, Jacksonville, Florida: We want to welcome the Lake Forest church of Christ to the House to House/Heart to Heart School of Evangelism. They were engaged and energized throughout the training. Brother Brian Howard is their preacher and has been practicing evangelism personally with 8 baptisms since last June. Now, they are ready for the congregational training. Glencoe church of Christ, Alabama: Keith Ritchie (evangelist) reports, “Glencoe church of Christ had a wonderful attendance with several visitors and no less than three whom we are prospecting. We still have four Bible studies at this time. There is a lot going on at Glencoe, and the excitement can be seen in the eyes of our members. We have two upcoming events geared towards evangelism. We request prayers for the work. To God be the glory!” New Hope church of Christ, Florence, Alabama: Doug Jackson (preacher) reports, “We handed out contact cards yesterday. I presented a sermon about Jesus and the Samaritan Woman. We intend to encourage our members all week as they fill out these cards with names and pray about these contacts.” Highland Park church of Christ, Muscle Shoals, Alabama: Andrew Myhan (deacon) reports, “This week brought more Bible studies and new prospects! We were also able to add more mentors for new converts. We are working toward revamping our logistics as we write compassion cards. We included a how-to video to help instruct the congregation.” Central church of Christ, Saraland, Alabama: David Dixon (preacher) reports, “On Sunday, one of the elders announced that we are going to reorganize and renew our efforts within the program. The focus is still firmly on evangelism. The results have been set forth. Now it is time for us to take what we have learned in the last year and apply it more efficiently to our efforts going forward. We will continue to adjust and modify until we find the combination that works best for us. We have had four baptisms in 2025. We are not slowing down. We are tuning up!” Creekwood church of Christ, Mobile, Alabama: Tucker Presley (preacher) reports, “We had a baptism last week! Viktoriia Kolisnkyk was baptized into Christ on Thursday afternoon at the building. David and I studied with her for several weeks, and she decided to give her life to Christ! Praise be to God! We are also continuing our training. I gave a lesson yesterday morning on the first half of the red booklet. David spoke last night on the transition visits. We have several visits to make this week as several people have received cards for three weeks now. We have been sending cards out every week, and members are helping out tremendously with that.” Petersville church of Christ, Florence, Alabama: Adam Richardson (preacher) reports, “We celebrate two things this week at the Petersville congregation! First, a family from the community placed membership with us. They had attended in the past but fell away; they returned a few weeks ago. After talking with them, they recognized the need to be faithful to the church and announced their request to come back. Second, a family who is looking for a church home visited. This family was invited by Adam because he is a fellow volunteer firefighter at the department near the building. This family is looking for a church, and we are actively setting up studies with them. We pray these studies will bring souls to Christ! We will have a coordinator’s meeting next Sunday and recruit more members of the church to our congregational evangelism program. We sent out 25 compassion cards to families this week.” Hatton church of Christ, Alabama: Chris Miller (preacher) reports, “We request prayers for Kaidance; she has been through Book 1; today will go through the second study. We have other studies as well, but Kaidance is the closest to obeying the Gospel at this point.” West Huntsville church of Christ, Alabama: Paul Owen (elder) reports, “West Huntsville was encouraged and motivated to continue to spread the Gospel by Keno Shrum Sunday. He is a powerful communicator, and we are grateful for the renewed focus we received on our one year anniversary of HTHSOE!” Mountain Home church of Christ, Arkansas: Joshua Adams (preacher) reports, “On Sunday morning, we had a missions report, which meant we took a break from the sermon series of walking though the HTHSOE model. However, we had a coordinators meeting Sunday night to get our Greeters, Contacts List organizer, and Compassion Cards group up to speed and working together so we can implement it in the coming weeks. We are working hard behind the scenes as we put all the pieces in place to make an impact on our community.” Malvern church of Christ, Arkansas (remote): David Burruss (preacher) reports, “We currently have three prospects, and we sent out 15 compassion cards last week. Our new invitation cards arrived on Friday, and we plan to begin distributing them this week to invite others to our worship services. We are also making preparations for our upcoming Spring Gospel Meeting and Ladies’ Day, with the hope of reaching and inviting several from the community. In addition, we are in the early planning stages of hosting a free community giveaway as another outreach opportunity.” Rison church of Christ, Arkansas: Keden Shrum (preacher) reports, “Card Team A met Sunday evening to sign cards for a lady who recently lost her husband. We had previously been sending cards to her and her husband as he was battling sepsis. We are also still sending cards to Ralph, whom I mentioned last week. I reached out to Ralph on Friday to invite him over for dinner, but he declined the invitation. I will try again after sending him another week of cards.” Windsor church of Christ, Colorado: Lucas Stephens (member) reports, “Windsor is sending compassion cards to our six neighbors weekly. We are reworking our new movers list to include a larger set of homes and areas that are in more of a transition. We plan to reach out to more neighbors. We should be able to reach out to about 60 homes once we complete our new list.” Wildwood church of Christ, Florida: Tony Clay (evangelist) reports, “We have had two baptisms in 2025. We are officially launching HTHSOE on April 6 and will begin training. We have members who are already applying the principles from the seminar. One brother has a Bible study set up with his mother. David will conduct that Bible study, with this brother being present as a silent partner. The membership has considerable enthusiasm, and we are excited to begin laying the groundwork for future success.” Margaret Street church of Christ, Milton, Florida: Troy Spradlin (preacher) reports, “I am happy to report that more of our members are beginning to step out of their comfort zones and evangelize! One of our deacons decided to talk with one of our regular visitors and asked for a Bible Study. I have noticed a more concentrated effort from him, so I am thankful for his newfound courage and involvement. One young lady who had resisted our new evangelism ministry has now given us two new contacts! She has seen the impact of compassion cards and realized she has some friends we might be able to encourage and reach. Two of our eleven Bible study contacts continued with Back to the Bible. Each reported that they love the study! To date, we have received 88 contacts; we are working five new compassion card prospects, and we have 20 transition prospects. God is providing the increase; we will continue to plant and water!” Niceville church of Christ, Florida: Joe Palmer (preacher) reports, “This week we had two studies and sent out 22 cards. We are prospecting using the natural market of the church, visitors, funerals, and community contacts. We are also trying to prospect through recent converts. Encouraging them to share contacts with us. We found some new Spanish new converts material from WVBS via Troy Spradlin. We are waiting for the next person to say yes to Jesus and salvation.” Avalon church of Christ, Florida (remote): Preston Silcox (elder) reports, “We continue to work on our bookmarks and are sending out cards to seven new contacts this week. We had our largest crowd of the year yesterday, with 85 in attendance. Last week, we hosted two group Bible studies at the building, as well as our monthly Family Night. All three events had non-Christians present. We currently have five prospects, six ongoing Bible studies, and two ongoing ‘keeper’ studies with new Christians (in addition to our new converts class).” Woodstock church of Christ, Georgia: Matt Amos (preacher) reports, “The WCOC congregation attended the Sunabella of Towne Lake Assistant Living devotional on Sunday. They had six non-Christian attendees. The Compassion Card group created and sent out ten cards. The New Movers group delivered three baskets and three-door hangers this week for the New Movers Door Knocking Campaign. They visited six houses. A student in the Prison Ministry group’s Bible study transferred to Athens-Clark Correctional Institute. This student has recruited others in that facility who want to do Bible Study. The Bible Study is set for March 28. WCOC had nine non-Christian visitors this Sunday morning. We also had three Bibles Studies this past week.” Cartersville church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Charles Harris (regional trainer) reports, “We have gone from occasionally having visitors on Sunday morning, to having visitors at every service. Getting out into the community instead of waiting in the church building is making a difference.” Honolulu church of Christ, Hawaii: Tagiilima Esene (preacher) reports, “Aloha from the Honolulu congregation! We continue to monitor those who are new movers in the community. We continue to send cards to our visitors. We recently scheduled another Bible study with two more souls after a meal invitation. We have a total of six studies that are ongoing at this time. We are focusing on strengthening our relationships within the church. We want to spend more time together outside of the church building, so we had a church picnic at a popular park where we gathered like a family and enjoyed God’s creation together. So many were able to attend, including friends of our church ‘ohana’ (family). We have two more souls being prospected through a meal invitation this week. To God be the glory!” Collinsville-Troy church of Christ, Illinois: Jason Wright (elder) reports, “Bible studies continued this week. We currently have seven in progress, with three new prospects scheduled for studies this week. We had multiple visitors again this week. One young man who fell away is hoping to return to the fold. He attended our young adults’ class as well. We gave him a visitor bag and got his information. We mailed 185 compassion cards this week. We delivered 13 new movers baskets and got contact information. We scheduled a door-knocking day in a local town where we are sending HTH. Our coordinators will meet this week. We continued our SOS training on Sunday, as well as packing baskets for new movers. We have had three people from the community come to the building wanting to attend. We have studies scheduled this week with two of them. One is an 18-year-old senior in high school who wants to know more about God. One of our elders and one of our teens are scheduled to meet for a study Monday evening. Our New Converts class continues to roll along; we hope to be adding to it soon.” Highland Village church of Christ, Bloomington, Indiana: Mark Stauffer (elder) reports, “In the first three weeks of March, we sent 101 compassion cards, had ten visitors for worship, made five visits, and had one Bible study. We are continuing to emphasize the importance of contacts and the urgency of reaching the lost. We are also working with recent converts to integrate them into the congregation and ensure that they are well-grounded in the Word.” Judah church of Christ, Bedford, Indiana: Joe Moon (preacher) reports, “We started compassion cards for two new people this week, and we chose two more people we would like to prospect soon. One couple has an ongoing study with friends. Yesterday, we spent some time discussing how to improve and continue to do more.” Beloit church of Christ, Kansas (remote): Dustin Dougherty (regional trainer) reports, “We had a good service yesterday with 29 in attendance. We will have our first 5th Sunday singing of the year this coming Sunday, and we are looking forward to that service and all the visitors we have. I am still working on the contact bookmarks and promoting there use so we can change the contacts to potential compassion card recipients. Recently, I gave out several invitation cards and managed to have some conversations with local people. The fields are white unto harvest, and though the workers are few, we are thankful to be working here. To God be the glory.” Central church of Christ, Paducah, Kentucky: Adam Faughn (preacher) reports, “We are happy that one of our young people who has been visiting for a while has agreed to study this week. He has studied before, but this week’s study seemed to get him much closer to the point of decision. We are praying he makes that decision soon. We continue to be blessed by the presence of a couple of local guests, and some very good connections are being made. One has agreed to continue a study that was stopped some time ago, and we feel as if she is close to baptism also. It is a very exciting time at Central, and so it is a fitting time for us to have a ‘refresh’ Sunday with Keno Shrum. We are thrilled that he is coming our way next Sunday, and we pray that this time will be helpful to us as we seek to be more effective and efficient. We also have something very special planned for late April, and we will share more about that soon. We hope it is another big step forward in faith for us. Finally, we were blessed to welcome a new couple to our congregation on Sunday evening. While this addition is not evangelistic growth, we are glad that when they moved to Paducah from out of state, they immediately came to us and are getting involved. We are thankful for more hands to work in the fields that we believe are white to harvest. To God be the glory for what is happening in and around Paducah!” Aberdeen church of Christ, Maryland: Will Brown (preacher) reports, “A kind lady was searching for the truth. We studied Back to the Bible three weeks in a row, and she obeyed the Gospel. She also faithfully attended services after the first Bible study. She is the second person to obey the Gospel this month. We have three more ongoing Bible studies. We have a new Christian class that is being taught by one of our elders. Our card teams continue to send cards. We appreciate all prayers for our efforts and all the new followers of Christ.” East Main church of Christ, Tupelo, Mississippi: Barry Kennedy (preacher) reports, “We announced yesterday we are going to have a coordinator meeting and do a little restructuring. God willing, things are going to start picking up.” East Flushing church of Christ, New York (remote): Clarence Jenkins (preacher) reports, “Last Wednesday, one visitor who has been coming consistently returned. For worship service on Sunday, we had five visitors, and two of them have been coming on a regular basis. After worship, we took out our bookmarks and prayed for our contacts. We also took selfies and sent them to our contacts and to members we haven’t seen recently. We hope to encourage them to come to worship service. Our metrics thus far for March are 78 compassion cards, six Bible studies, 13 prospects, and 22 visitors. We appreciate all prayers.” New Concord church of Christ, Ohio: Terry Townsend (preacher) reports, “We mailed 86 compassion cards this week. One Bible study continues. The other Bible study has completed all three booklets of BTBB as well as the booklet Does It Matter. That study, while we were hopeful it would yield a positive response, will continue. We are re-evaluating to determine which course to take moving forward. The harvest is a bit more difficult here than in other areas where I have been. We are having some success, but I am finding that many folks have been indoctrinated with multiple religious errors.” Whispering Hills church of Christ, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma: Matt McBrayer (preacher) reports, “Soon we will start implementing the teaching of Back to the Bible on Wednesday nights to increase the number of those able to do studies. On the first Sunday in April, we will begin a New Converts class that will be taught by one of our elders. The congregation is still excited about the possibilities of our evangelistic efforts.” Sullivan Village church of Christ, Lawton, Oklahoma: Steven Hill (preacher) reports, “Sullivan Village is continuing the new converts class and encouraging members to evangelize. We work together as a team to influence the lost to come to know the Lord and obey the Gospel. We are thankful for the many opportunities and blessings that God has afforded us.” Owasso church of Christ, Oklahoma: David Combs (elder) reports, “Tuesday was a great day! Baron and Jessica completed Lesson 3 of Back to the Bible, and Dan Schnell, our pulpit minister, who studied with them all the way, baptized them into Christ following the completion of that study. They have a beautiful family of two girls and one boy; Mya is 13, Natalia is three, and Jaeger (pronounced Yeager) is one year old. We currently have three Bible studies in progress, including Garrett, Cassidy, and our latest prospect, Solomon. Yesterday, we worshipped our God, receiving our first lesson from John 4. Before we dismissed, we passed out Contact cards along with a simple explanation. On Sunday evening, we had our first training card session and discussed their role. We have our Prospect Coordinator and our Compassion Card Coordinator in place. The congregation is divided into four equal groups for compassion card writing, and each group has a leader responsible for that group. In addition, the leadership, elders, deacons, and ministers, along with their wives, will write cards on the fifth Sunday. We have set our metric at 10-12 from contact cards, leaving room for three visitors or so. We are blessed with a few visitors almost every week.” Porter church of Christ, Oklahoma: Nathan Boyd (elder) reports, “The Porter congregation had our second Sunday morning lesson on John 4 and Sunday evening class on the Evangelism table, presented by our Spark Plug preacher Dan. Pat, one of our elders, is the compassion card coordinator. He and coordinator Nathan and their wives are working on card organization setup/storage, and how the process will work by April 6. From discussion and goals in our elders’ meeting, we hope to have all the kinks worked out by the third night/week when group C has their turn writing compassion cards. Visitor coordinator (elder) Roy is working on setting up the visitor team, and then elders will set up a visitor training class after the Sunday class over Visitors on April 6.” Coweta church of Christ, Oklahoma: Keno Shrum (regional trainer) reports, “On Sunday, Jamie and I traveled to West Huntsville, Alabama, where I conducted a Congregational Refresh. We enjoyed the time spent with the brothers and sisters there. In Coweta, we had 11 visitors on Sunday. Our pew greeters got their contact information so we could mail them compassion cards. Last Thursday, Garrett and I went through Lesson 1 of Back to the Bible with Breylan. On Sunday, Breylan was in Bible class and worship and brought his sister with him. Last Friday, Jamie and I took a young couple we are prospecting out to dinner. We are meeting again next week for dinner. I think they are very close to being ready for a Bible study. Some studies take longer to produce than others, but we understand evangelism is a marathon, not a sprint. After going through the initial training, most congregations need a Refresh within a year to help rejuvenate and refocus their efforts. If your congregation could benefit from a Refresh, Regional Trainers are standing by ready to come work with your congregation.” York church of Christ, Pennsylvania: Mark Rashke (deacon) reports, “Matt, who grew up in our congregation, became a new father a couple of weeks ago, and then on Sunday morning, Matt’s earthly father was able to baptize him to welcome Matt as a spiritual babe in Christ! Many in the congregation were encouraged to see something they had been hoping for and praying about for years! We also continued the work by greeting some visitors with gift bags and collecting their information to send cards this week. Literally, as I am typing this message, I just received a photo from Fred, showing that another young man who grew up in our congregation, Colton, was baptized tonight (Monday). The angels rejoice in Heaven!” Union church of Christ, South Carolina (remote): Terry Hale (preacher) reports, “Our new sister Donna Leighton was assisted in baptism by Allen, one of the elders at St. Andrews church of Christ. She studied and also looked at frequently asked questions about baptism, and she wanted to obey. Many are working diligently here to share the Gospel. Progress in exciting training sessions is being documented on our boards for contacts and prospects. We have Bible studies in progress. Participation from members in training and in the field is increasing.” Covington church of Christ, Tennessee: Wayne Dalrymple (elder) reports, “Last Tuesday, I studied with Chris. We went through Book 2 of BTTB. Although Chris had originally asked if we believe members of the church of Christ are the only ones going to Heaven, I deferred that question until this study. I still never directly answered it myself. I allowed the Scriptures to provide the answer as we went through the study. As we studied about the sin of denominationalism, Chris never questioned anything the Bible teaches about the one true church. He accepted everything as true. We will have studied Book 3 by the time this report goes out to everyone (Tuesday afternoon). We pray that we will have a new brother in Christ by that time as well. One of our members, Chris Huggins, brought the name of a friend to us, Jamie. Jamie is in prison but is interested in learning more about God and the Bible. We are beginning to mail her a Bible correspondence course written by Allen Webster and designed to introduce a person to the Bible, Christ, and the plan of salvation. Our plan is to involve our members who meet during our Monday Night for the Master’s effort to grade these lessons when they are returned. We will also send cards of encouragement as she progresses through the course. We pray for a good heart in this lady.” Cookeville church of Christ, Tennessee: Jonathan Medley (deacon) reports, “We had two new prospects, and we have been reaching out to them. From delivering New Movers baskets, we have two new names; they seem open and accepting during the delivery. We will begin cards to them soon.” McKenzie church of Christ, Tennessee: Randall McAdams (elder) reports, “This week, Group 4 will mail the last of the ten contacts generated for the month of March. Our group leaders and members are remaining steadfast with our outreach plans. We are blessed to have these messengers to carry this torch of love. We will kick off April with at least six contacts, and as usual, more will come as the month progresses. We also ask for prayers for a family we were sending cards to: Mrs. Megan Inman, mother of three children, died from breast cancer last week. Our hearts go out to her and her family.” McEwen church of Christ, Tennessee: John Jones (preacher) reports, “Our three Bible studies continue, more contacts have been turned in, and new evangelists have been trained to go on the ‘first visit’ with three more prospects this week who have already received many cards.” Philadelphia church of Christ, Lebanon, Tennessee (remote): Alex Degraves (associate preacher) reports, “We began the videos yesterday with ‘Let’s Get Motivated.’ Next week, I will be preaching the first half of the sermon from John 4, and, after talking to the elders, we will begin with the contact cards. We still have one member who is studying with someone and using the Back to the Biblestudies.” Stewarts Creek church of Christ, Smyrna, Tennessee: Jon McCord (member) reports, “We had a baptism Monday, March 17. On Wednesday, we had another baptism! We had our Friends and Family day with 234 in attendance!” Birdwell Chapel church of Christ, Cottontown, Tennessee: Kerry England (elder) reports, “Dale preached on the parable of the wedding feast from Matthew 22: ‘Many are called, but few are chosen.’ His lesson demonstrated the importance of contacts. On Sunday night, we had training about the use of compassion cards. We are pausing the training to allow us time to get our compassion card teams in place and trained. We are signing up for the HTHHTH New Movers mailing and will also set up the New Movers program during this period. We also now have our invitation cards in hand and will begin using them.” Blackman church of Christ, Murfreesboro, Tennessee (remote): Brian McCord (elder) reports, “We continue to send cards weekly. We have not been able to make visits yet due to illness of both the contacts and those performing the visits, but we hope to do that soon. We are getting ready to start the new movers program soon.” Ocoee Street church of Christ, Copperhill, Tennessee: R.E. Vann (elder) reports, “There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. This Sunday, the Ocoee Street congregation rejoiced with the baptism of Kristin! Pray for her as she begins her walk with Jesus. Several transition visits with our wayward members have taken place, but we have no discernible fruit yet. We are praying for restorations. “ Rivergate church of Christ, Madison, Tennessee: Doug Tooley (preacher) reports, “We had seven visitors Sunday morning. Two of these had received compassion cards. We had two more visitors on Sunday night. We made a good connection with them. They are looking for a church. One of the students in our Bible study said she knows what she needs to do, but she needs to think about it. We are praying about that situation.” Freewill church of Christ, Gainesboro, Tennessee (remote): Andrew Scott (preacher) reports, “We had record attendance for Bible class and worship services yesterday. We added even more souls to our prospect list as we continue to send out multiple cards. We have lunch set up with a couple of families in the upcoming weeks. We continue to plan for our Gospel Meeting in April with Robby Eversole. We give God the glory for all of our work.” White Oak church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee (remote): John McGiffin (preacher) reports, “We are putting together information for a door-knocking event. We will knock on 400 doors, mail 200 cards, and put information in HTH/HTH about our upcoming Gospel Meeting. We included an old copy of HTH, a postcard about the meeting, and a tract called ‘Something Is Wrong . . . But the Bible Is Right.’ I am planning a lunch with a fallen member of the church this week. We will be posting our first Facebook Ad, targeted for a five-mile radius of the building this week. Attached is a picture of the door-knocking packet.” Chapel Hill church of Christ, Tennessee: Matt Jones (deacon) reports, “Yesterday we had Keith Parker spend the day focusing our worship and Bible class times on local outreach. He did a great job, and I feel the church was edified by the words he shared. We plan to use the momentum from this to solicit the congregation this Wednesday on where everyone feels their talents are best aligned. The last time we surveyed everyone, we had several state they were interested in all the efforts. This time we are asking everyone to only select three or four areas and commit confidently to working those areas. We expect this to help our coordinators align better. This Thursday, we will meet as a coordinator team to review and assess the overall progress.” Rome church of Christ, Lebanon, Tennessee (remote): David Oxley (elder) reports, “We will meet this week for our advanced class. We are sending cards this week to five prospects. We are happy to report we finished Book 3 Thursday night and baptized Greg and Tracy Reynolds into Christ. We will be meeting with them every Monday for a New Converts class.” West Fayetteville church of Christ, Tennessee: Van Massey (elder) reports, “This week, 85 compassion cards will be sent out to nine individuals. We have two candidates for Bible study. One of these has had a preliminary study already and has agreed to let me come back. I received permission to visit another one last week. Please pray for good results.” Mountain Creek church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee: Michael Tomshack (elder) reports, “We persistently emphasize personalized prospect cards during each Bible study class session, spanning from teenagers to adults. We continue to distribute monthly House to House mailings to over 6,000 homes within our immediate vicinity. Our proximity to numerous apartment complexes within a one-mile radius of our building further enhances our outreach efforts. Furthermore, we have implemented the new movers program, which experiences high turnover due to the concentration of apartments in the area. Our strategic approach involves sowing the seeds of potential connections.” 9th and Main church of Christ, San Angelo, Texas: Leon Martinez (evangelist) reports, “The members here at the 9th and Main congregation in San Angelo, Texas, are striving to find many ways to reach out to the community, as well as to the families of our members who aren’t Christians. We continue to send out cards of encouragement, and there have been multiple Bible studies conducted. We appreciate all prayers from those who read this report.” Howe church of Christ, Texas: Aaron Alsbrook (preacher) reports, “It has been a privilege studying as a congregation the HTHSOE material and encouraging one another to be more evangelistic. We continue our momentum as our lessons over the material are ending. I believe we are all of the mindset that anything we do as a congregation needs to funnel through the thinking of pointing lost souls to the cross. In the Sunday morning assembly, we discussed How to Close a Study, placing emphasis on leaving the door open if the student chooses not to obey God’s Word. We have several community events upcoming, including our men’s day and our first clothing drive. The training card to make contacts at such events was taught at our Sunday night assembly to encourage us all to make contacts and move them to prospects, then studies, and on through the Evangelism Model. We continue to have studies, and we pray our labor locally will soon begin to bear fruit.” Roanoke church of Christ, Texas: Caleb Rutherford (preacher) reports, “We had twenty visitors Sunday; however, the most exciting part was that we had our first unfaithful member return to services. One of our elders studied with him Saturday evening, and it went well. Then he, unprompted, decided to attend services in the morning. Members were overjoyed! It was a wonderful scene. Group 2 wrote cards to four prospects, one of which was one of our visitors who was a friend of a member. Our visitor teams (pew/door) also met for a training session. We needed to improve in some areas, especially with the influx of visitors we have had over the last few weeks.” Southside church of Christ, Lubbock, Texas (remote): Joshua Hubbard (associate minister) reports, “We are moving along smoothly. We are sending cards to one prospect, and we possibly have more in the near future. We have made several contacts this week that we will try to prospect. We definitely see the need for the Gospel here, and we see how desperate people are for the truth. We appreciate all prayers for our efforts.” Fruitvale church of Christ, Texas: Carl McCann (elder) reports, “We are always encouraged when one of our visitors comes because of visits because of a New Movers Basket delivery. This past Sunday, we had nine visitors. Last week we were blessed to have some from the Central church of Christ in Athens, Texas, to join us to go door knocking on Thursday. Then we went to Athens and assisted them on Saturday. Together we gained 18 new contacts, ten for us and eight for them. We continue to have five ongoing studies. We also have one group study at a nursing home with 17 residents. We are excited to be assisting local congregations with door-knocking and teaching them the skills of contact-making, prospecting, and follow-up work.” Midtown church of Christ, Victoria, Texas: Cody McCoy (preacher) reports, “We continue to cultivate contact bookmarks, visitor follow-up, compassion cards, and two ongoing studies. We ordered the worship service invite cards from HTH, and we think they are a perfect tool to get the novice evangelist involved. We are encouraged by several families who have been bringing relatives that have not obeyed the Gospel—yet.” Wheeler church of Christ, Texas: Garrett English (preacher) reports, “I did not have an opportunity to check with the man from last week, but I will make sure to ask today about studying more on baptism. We attended a local Gospel Meeting this weekend and made some plans for some of their congregation to make some visits with me to local contacts in the coming weeks. I believe working together will be helpful in our evangelism. I had studied Lesson 1 of Back to the Bible with a denominational ‘pastor’ nearly six months ago or more. He called recently to ask about studying more on baptism. I said that would be great. I plan to start Lesson 2 with him and continue building up to baptism.” Bridgewater church of Christ, Katy, Texas: Doug Suggs (deacon) reports, “We met Sunday evening to write cards to those who have medical problems and also to some who have not been to church; we hope to encourage them. Jarvis gave us the name of a contact, and we sent cards to him and his daughter. They have recently moved into our area, and Jarvis is trying to get a study established with them. We had a sister in Christ who placed membership with us last Sunday. We will implement a New Convert class soon. The Spanish class is going well. Two women who are not Christians are attending, and they are very interested in the church at this time. We appreciate all prayers.” Granbury Street church of Christ, Cleburne, Texas: Ryan Cowan (deacon) reports, “Over forty members took part in our compassion cards writing efforts last Sunday. Cody Randig and the other ladies in support did a good job organizing and carrying out this effort. A majority of these contacts stemmed from our new movers efforts in the past several weeks.” Abingdon church of Christ, Virginia: Freddie Klein (evangelist) reports, “Nathan resumed his Back to the Bible sermon series on Sunday. The Transition Visit Team convened in the afternoon to discuss their strategy and visit individuals who had received compassion cards. Nathan’s evening sermon underscored the importance of the entire congregation’s participation in the transition visit. Following the Sunday evening service, a meeting took place with those involved in preparing welcome baskets for new movers, visiting visitors, and the transition visit. The congregation is currently engaged in two studies and continues to identify new contacts.” West Side church of Christ, Salem, Virginia: Jeff Durham (elder) reports, “Our Bible class yesterday was focused on the limited commission Jesus gave his disciples in Matthew 10. We discussed the commitment it took for them to carry out His instructions. We saw the challenges they faced by teaching such a different message than their community was used to hearing. It was noted that showing empathy and compassion towards those who were being taught was important. We need to “speak the truth, in love” (Ephesians 4:15). It took personal sacrifice on their part to focus their efforts on sharing the truth of God’s Word. Each of us needs to have their same mindset as we do our part in the Congregational Evangelism model.” Culpeper church of Christ, Virginia (remote): Dave Calvert (elder) reports, “If you plant the seed, if you water it periodically, and if you are patient enough, God will give the increase. Since one of our deacons became a Christian about 14 years ago, he has kept in contact with his childhood friends. He has had many discussions with them about his faith during this time. They have witnessed how he has always given God the glory for the blessings he has received in his life. This planting and watering yielded fruit Wednesday night when one of his childhood friends, his wife, and his daughter came forward and put on Christ in baptism. Hallelujah, praise Jehovah! On Sunday, we had one of our faithful members come forward, sharing something and asking for prayers from the congregation. What a wonderful week.” Williamsburg church of Christ, Virginia: Jim Bishop (elder) reports, “This week, the Williamsburg church of Christ reviewed the HTH video, ‘Three Important Questions,’ prior to our Wednesday night Bible study. These three questions are vital to begin the communication process. We had two local visitors this week. We continue to pray for the boldness to reach out to the community and opportunities to share the Gospel. Our compassion card groups are still active.” NOTE: These reports are from Christians and congregations enrolled in the House to House/Heart to Heart School of Evangelism. These emails are sent to teach and provoke one another to remain focused on the mission of Christ. Each week, we share several reports and highlight one with more details. We hope you enjoy reading them. For additional HTH speaking appointments, go to:
