Featured Congregation: Colleyville church of Christ, TX

Editor’s Note: Contacts are everywhere. We must be intentional to find them. The following is a congregational conversion that includes an invitation from a new convert, the hospitality of an elder, the love of a church, the trust in using the transition questions, the willingness to use a proven method, and, most importantly, the Power of God unto salvation.

A Chick-fil-A Conversion
by John Garza

Last Tuesday, we rejoiced with Miguel Soto, because he obeyed the Gospel of Jesus Christ to be forgiven of his sins and added to the Kingdom! Miguel is a product of Grant’s diligence at Chick-fil-A in Colleyville, Texas. Miguel is a worker there and a close friend of Larry.

Larry (a recent convert) who invited Miguel to worship, and when Grant confirmed with Miguel, he asked him to share a meal at the Puckett home after worship. Miguel had not been to church in a very, very long time, so he was excited. Additionally, he really enjoyed the congregation’s kindness toward him during the visit, and afterward, during lunch, Aaron Lloyd asked for the study according to the three questions found in the curriculum. After that they studied almost every Sunday until they finished Back to the Bible, lesson 3.

As written by Aaron Lloyd, “If there is one word that I would use to describe our final study, I would use the word convicted. Miguel knew that he was in sin, and as we studied about what sin is, the consequences of sin, the justice of God, and the necessity of baptism, Miguel’s voice got low, and his eyes were filled with sorrow, knowing that he was on the wrong side of a just God. However, when we got to the section—‘what must I do to be saved?’— he sat as a willing student. When we read John 14:15, the study asked him, ‘Do you love Christ?’ He responded, ‘Yes.’ Then the study asked, ‘Do you want to obey Christ?’ To which he responded, ‘Yes.’ The study asked, ‘Would it please Jesus if you were baptized right now?’ Miguel responded, ‘Yes.’ At this moment, I told him, ‘We can baptize you right now.’ With a joy in his eyes, as if it were Christmas Day, he responded, ‘REALLY?!’ He was baptized for the remission of his sins with the biggest smile on his face. He is now our brother in Christ.”

Congregational Reports

Welcome Stuart church of Christ, Florida: We want to welcome the Stuart church of Christ to the House to House Heart to Heart School of Evangelism. If preparation and attendance predict future results, this congregation is going to excel. They have both strong leadership and teaching. We pray that their influence in Florida will bring glory to God.

Glencoe church of Christ, Alabama: Keith Ritchie (preacher) reports, “We are looking forward to several more works of outreach before the year is up. One of these works is our Fall Festival this Friday night. Last year, we acquired 66 contacts from this work with success, having two baptisms as a result. Glencoe also has more door-knocking to do and more community outreach in the next few weeks. Our attendance is still holding at good numbers with visitors each week. We have been blessed with five ongoing visitors, two of whom are now in a study. God continues to bless us. To God be the glory.”

Hatton church of Christ, Alabama: Chris Miller (preacher) reports, “Matt Corbsie put on Christ in baptism Friday night. He has some serious health concerns, but after he obeyed the Gospel, he said a huge burden was lifted from him. We have been praying for this for a long time, and we continue to lift up his family in prayer. On Sunday, a family of six visited as a result of our new movers contacts. We have visited them several times, and we are hopeful for follow-up studies.”

Fayette church of Christ, Alabama: Josh Taylor (deacon) reports, “We are gearing up for our annual Food Drive, and we are encouraging our brethren to send out CDs of brother Eric Owens’ Gospel Meeting. Personally, I have been trying to reach a Baptist preacher for a while now. I send him CDs of great sermons from time to time, and he is always willing to listen to them. My goal is for God to work in his heart, and I pray Eric’s message on ‘Faith That Saves’ will help. Our Food Drive is always very successful, and we continue to have a lot of visitors at our services. God is blessing us with so many people who are not members but are willing to attend our services. I think that is directly tied to our willingness to be friendly, which was produced by the implementation of our evangelism program.”

Central church of Christ, Saraland, Alabama: David Dixon (preacher) reports, “This week we hosted our Fall Festival/Halloween Party. One of our new converts has a huge bouncy house, and they brought it for the event. Another of our new converts brought her 16-year-old son for the first time to services. He seemed very comfortable. Another young couple is just beginning the process of fostering, and they brought their newly placed eight-year-old. Our great fellowship provided new opportunities for Bible studies. Last week, we had two restorations. As we bring 2025 to a close, we have already surpassed our yearly baptism goal, and we are planning to set our sights higher next year. We pray for success throughout God’s Kingdom!”

Hartselle church of Christ, Alabama: Justin Smith (preacher) reports, “This week we received our first local response in the mail through the efforts of House to House Heart to Heart. An individual has expressed the desire for a Bible study, and we are working to make it happen; praise God! This would bring the total to four ongoing Bible studies. On Sunday morning, we had three families visiting with us for the first time. Thanks to God’s blessings, these are exciting times at the Hartselle church of Christ!”

Petersville church of Christ, Florence, Alabama: Adam Richardson (preacher) reports, “We sent 36 compassion cards last week. We hosted our annual Trunk-or-Treat, and despite having to move indoors because of the weather, we still had a lot of participation. We will be sifting through contact names this week. Another family from the community has asked to ‘join our church,’ and we have set up a study this Friday to help them learn the truth about ‘joining the church.’”

Creekwood church of Christ, Mobile, Alabama: Tucker Presley (preacher) reports, “We had a baptism yesterday morning! A young lady, who has been attending for several months with her grandparents gave her life to Christ during the morning service. Praise the Lord! We had an awesome Trunk-or-Treat event last night! About 100 visitors were here! We collected their contact information, and we will add them to the compassion list to receive cards for the next three weeks. Lord willing, we will visit each of them in about a month. One Bible study is ongoing, and another Bible study is set to begin soon. Things are going well!”

Cedar Grove church of Christ, Andalusia, Alabama: Josh Holloway (preacher) reports, “This week, we continued three wonderful Bible studies with Mrs. Terry, Mrs. Nena, and Micheal. Mrs. Terry is very active with the congregation now (even though she is not a member). She is involved in everything she can. She is very close to obeying the Gospel. Mrs. Nena is very close as well. During this past study, she brought up her baptism and mentioned that she may need to be rebaptized. We are continuing to study, but I believe she will obey the Gospel very soon. Please pray for her. We had our Fall Festival this past Saturday. We had around 150 in attendance (about three times as many as last year). We had several visitors from the community, and we made several contacts. Eight different families registered information with us so that we could put them on our contact list to prospect. Our card ministry is still going strong. We had some wayward members attend, so we were able to make some progress with them. Some who are in studies brought family members. We are sending out 153 cards this week for a total of 541 for October. This month, we had eight visitors, 34 transition visits, and 14 personal Bible studies. We started HTHSOE in April. Since then, we have had 91 visitors, made 246 visits, sent 2,738 cards, and had 78 Bible studies. We have had a total of five restorations and ten baptisms, with our salvation goal of 15.”

Mountain Home church of Christ, Arkansas: Joshua Adams (preacher) reports, “We concluded our October refresher sermon series on the ‘Season of Harvest’—a reminder that every one of us has a role to play in God’s Kingdom work here on earth. After beginning our evangelism focus early in the year and hosting Rob’s evangelism workshop in March, it was refreshing to renew our energy and excitement for joining Jesus in His mission to seek and save the lost. Throughout October, we reflected on the unique opportunity we have here in America, where more people than in recent years seem to be searching for something deeper—something eternal. The congregation was challenged to take up the work and get involved if they have not yet plugged in, and to remember that partnering in the sharing of the Gospel is the most important thing we can do. We currently have several Bible studies ongoing, and our contact list is rich and growing—thanks to the efforts of our members reaching out to friends and neighbors, as well as connections made through our recent community Fall Festival. I am confident that even more visits and studies are on the horizon. Last Sunday night, 21 members stayed after services to write 105 compassion cards—a beautiful example of hearts moved to encourage and connect. We are praying for this spirit of love and outreach to continue to grow as we carry the momentum forward into the months ahead!”

Margaret Street church of Christ, Milton, Florida: Troy Spradlin (preacher) reports, “We set up a large canopy (with ‘Margaret Street church of Christ’ prominently printed on it) at our local community’s Fall Festival Event. We had more than 1,000 people stop by our booth while we gave away popcorn and candy! We handed out 250 invitation flyers and gave away more than 100 Bibles and materials. We now realize we should have printed a lot more flyers and had more materials. We just did not expect to have such a large number of people come by! We will be better prepared next year; we plan to set up a ‘Prayer Request’ table to generate more contacts. But the best part is that one of the contacts we made at our booth came to visit us on Sunday! We have often said, ‘Even if our efforts result in reaching only one soul, it is worth the effort!’ Our current 2025 Year-to-Date Accountability Board numbers are: 309 Total Contacts received; 82 Total Visitors; 255 Neighbors (Prospects whom we have loved and/or studied with); 75 Bible studies (total completed); 2240 Compassion Cards sent; two Restorations, and 17 Baptisms.”

Niceville church of Christ, Florida: Joe Palmer (preacher) reports, “This week we had one study and sent out 35 cards.  We had two returning visitors on Sunday.  The discipling is going well.  We have several ongoing studies in small groups and young Christians getting involved.  This week we helped one of our young Christians who works in a restaurant. In my visits, I have discovered that every one of his coworkers knows that we are a church that cares.  We had our Trunk R Treat Saturday, and I set up one follow-up study.  We have one prospect who is counting the cost.”

Warner Robins church of Christ, Georgia: Damien Walker (evangelist) reports, “Saturday, we had a massive turnout for our Trunk or Treat event. About half our membership showed up (around 80), and we had around 250 visitors. We were ready with sign-in sheets and 56 groups to provide contact information! On Sunday evening, we exhorted the congregation to write cards to all the groups we had addresses for, and our card outboxes were the fullest I have ever seen. We provided an area on the sign-in sheet for people to indicate if they would like prayers or any kind of assistance, and we will be using the next couple of weeks to address those items with the intent to prospect those individuals. We are praying for the next steps (transition visits, Bible studies, etc.). We are also reviewing our recent congregational involvement survey to figure out where our members might serve more naturally in the process. There is a lot of movement right now! It is a little intimidating, but very exciting! It is amazing to watch what God can do through Christians who are carrying out their mission.”

Cartersville church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Charles Harris (regional trainer) reports, “We continued with our monthly door knocking Saturday and gathered 12 contacts. We are working with last month’s door-knocking contacts as well. Doug is a new convert and has introduced us to several souls since his baptism. Alisha is his daughter, and we baptized her into Christ on Thursday. I began a new role as a deacon. I will be working with our Bible Class program. I am looking forward to helping in the training of the next generation of soul winners.”

Edgewood church of Christ, Columbus, Georgia: Mitchell Deering (deacon) reports, “We mailed 58 additional compassion cards this week, bringing our October total to 160 cards. We had three visitors on Sunday, offering new opportunities for follow-up and encouragement. Our 14 active Bible studies continue to progress, showing strong engagement and momentum within the congregation. The follow-up team remains active, ensuring visitors and card recipients are contacted in a timely and personal way.”

Woodstock church of Christ, Georgia: Matt Amos (preacher) reports, “The Compassion Card Group created and sent nine cards. WCOC had nine non-Christian visitors this past Sunday morning worship.”

Eatonton church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Roderick Coney (preacher) reports, “We finished our new movers list for the month of September, but the last few addresses were vacant houses. We put them on the list to check back in a few weeks. We will start the October list this week. It is a short one, so we hope to have it completed before we get the November list. We are baking banana nut bread to put in each bag we give out, and they have all been warmly received. We sent out 11 cards this week and had a new visitor.  It has been exciting to start having visitors again, after such a long stretch without any. Lord willing, we will soon have some Bible studies. We appreciate all prayers!”

Honolulu Church of Christ, Hawaii: Tagiilima Esene (regional trainer) reports, “We had a soul visit us during our afternoon services. She shared she had watched the youtube video, ‘Why Are There So Many Churches?’ We are now planning to have a meal invitation with her. Two souls are nearing the end of Back to the Bible. They are great soil, and we are hopeful they will obey the Gospel. The highlight of this week was one soul making the decision to put on Christ in baptism. We appreciate all prayers.”

Collinsville-Troy church of Christ, Illinois: Jason Wright (elder) reports, “We handed out two visitor bags on Sunday. Another man I visited on Tuesday slipped in and out before the service ended. I followed up, and he and his wife have agreed to a study on Monday. They have not been to church in over 20 years. He liked our services and plans to come back on Sunday. We mailed 80 compassion cards. We delivered three new mover baskets and made three follow-up visits. We had multiple Bible studies this week. We will be conducting our first study in Spanish. Thankfully, two of our members know the language. We press on!”

Highland Village church of Christ, Bloomington, Indiana: Mark Stauffer (elder) reports, “On Wednesday, we baptized Diana, who has been attending our services and has completed Back to the Bible. On the weekend, we were blessed to have Keno Shrum and his wife, Jamie, here to refresh the SOE training we had a year ago. This morning, we baptized Patty (photo), who had some doubts about her first baptism. We have four baptisms so far this year. Our goal at the beginning of the year was three; now it is five! The Lord has blessed us greatly.”

Judah church of Christ, Indiana: Joe Moon (preacher) reports, “We had two visitors who have attended several weeks in a row. We also had three visits and one attempted visit.  Eight different people (about 33 percent of our membership) went on the four visits.”

Lincoln Way church of Christ, Columbia City, Indiana: Drew Reece (preacher) reports, “We are implementing the curriculum! We have a Bible study with one of the people that we have been prospecting; we have started with Book 1 of Back to the Bible. So far, it is going well. We ask for prayers for our efforts!”

Columbus church of Christ, Kansas: Matt Fowler (member) reports, “We are rejoicing over a baptism that took place this week. Mary came to us as a visitor about six weeks ago after receiving our introductory issue of House to House Heart to Heart. She has been attending regularly. On one of the first Sundays she was there, she went to the evangelism table, picked up a set of Back to the Bible, and asked my mother-in-law, Laura, to do the study with her. Laura and Chris met with her and went through the study. She was very receptive. They felt confident she would obey the Gospel, but we had a bit of an obstacle. Mary is not able to walk well, and she is in a wheelchair, but she is strong enough to use a walker when she needs to. We knew she would not be able to get up and down the baptistery steps at the building. Laura checked at the nursing home and hospital in town, but they did not have any place where we could do it. She started calling hotels in nearby Pittsburg, Kansas. The first several told her we could not use their pool for a baptism. Ironically, the first yes she got was from the hotel that is attached to the casino! With that in place, they conducted the third study, and Mary knew right away that she needed to be baptized for the remission of her sins. We took her to Pittsburgh to the casino, and she was baptized in the swimming pool there. The staff was so nice to us and gave us the pool all to ourselves. We introduced her as our new sister in Christ on Sunday morning, and she began in the New Converts class. This was our eighth baptism this year. We started in January with an average attendance of 17 on Sunday mornings. My wife Beth completed Back to the Bible Book 1 with a co-worker this week and is set for the second study this week. We have three other studies in progress, but they keep running into scheduling conflicts. We appreciate all prayers for doors to open so studies can resume, and we also ask for continuing prayers for our efforts, even as we continue to pray for other congregations. The fields are white unto harvest!”

Beloit church of Christ, Kansas (remote): Dustin Dougherty (regional trainer) reports, “We had a good number yesterday in Beloit at 33. We had three returning adult visitors and one infant. On Wednesday, a young couple with a young child walked in just prior to service. They had just moved to the area from New Mexico the weekend prior and came in for mid-week study. They all came back to worship services on Sunday morning. The other visitor on Sunday morning was the girlfriend of one of our members; she has been there a handful of times now. I have been advertising locally for the college-age study, praying that it will take off so we will be able to reach many of the local students. I recently gave a copy of Muscle and a Shovel to a man, and he told me that he started the book and is enjoying it. We ask for prayers that this will allow the opportunity for him to learn the truth, or allow for more personal study with him.  We appreciate all prayers for the work in this area, so lost souls might be reached and might come to the knowledge of the Truth. To God be the glory.”

Flatwoods church of Christ, Kentucky: Nathan Adkins (elder) reports, “The congregation came out in full force for our Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday night, and so did the community.  We estimate that there were 250 people there. We were able to get 20 family contacts by setting up a photo station. In the next few weeks, we will deliver a photo package to them and invite them to services. Several of our members are beginning to see the benefits of card sending. When we go for a follow-up visit, the people are very happy to see us. Yesterday, Team 3 prepared 33 cards to be sent this week. We had one new visitor yesterday and four return visitors. Our attendance was the best it has been in several months. Most importantly, a brother come forward at the invitation last night, asking for prayers and wanting to rededicate himself to the Lord. There is one planned Bible study on Tuesday with some folks that we met while knocking on doors in September.”

Central church of Christ, Paducah, Kentucky: Adam Faughn (preacher) reports, “We were blessed to have three Bible studies this week. Julia has been visiting with us for some time with her boyfriend, who is one of our new converts. She even attended when her boyfriend was on vacation. She agreed to a study with Noah Davis (Youth & Family Minister); the first study was Thursday evening. Also on Thursday evening, I led the first premarital counseling with Sam and Emma. Emma is a Christian, but Sam is not, so our first counseling session included a lot of Scripture, and they want me to do that. I am praying that when we complete the official premarital sessions, we can transition to more traditional Bible studies to help him. Finally, on Sunday evening, Trayton studied with Noah. He has been visiting for a long time, but he obviously has some things on his mind. Another study is set up with him and his girlfriend, Baleigh, with one of our elders (Jim Faughn) on Wednesday afternoon. We are thrilled by all these people who are wanting to know more about the Scriptures!”

Gonzales church of Christ, Louisiana: Patrick Adkins (deacon) reports, “We have had 12 visitors this month, including seven neighbors, and we had eight Bible studies. We have signed 33 cards today, 178 cards for October, and 778 cards this year. We have not made any visits yet, but seven are scheduled. We will be delivering new movers baskets for October next week.”

La Plata church of Christ, Maryland (remote): Eric Sykes (regional trainer) reports, “This week we had five visitors. We offered to take them out to eat, but they all said they’d take a rain check. Hopefully, they’ll be back next week. One family came because they were receiving our HTH/HTH Newsletter. The other family came because they found our congregation online. We wrote 16 compassion cards. Janiah started lesson one of BTTB with one of her classmates. Tabetha completed lesson two of BTTB with a co-worker. Cynthia started lesson two of BTTB with her granddaughters. Russ & Carla are starting lesson two of BTTB with Ruth Develbis. Ruth is the sister of our new convert, Charlie Forame, who passed away two weeks ago, one week after he was baptized into Christ. Janiah, Tabetha, Cynthia, Russ & Carla are all part of our ‘advanced teachers’ group here at La Plata. Pray for the success of the annual Trunk or Treat that we’ll be conducting.”

Aberdeen church of Christ, Maryland: Will Brown (preacher) reports, “We still have five Bible studies ongoing. Last Sunday, we had eleven visitors. Our Trunk or Treat evangelism efforts gleaned ten contacts and five more people interested in a Bible study. A few of the elders and I are creating a plan to increase regular weekly visits and share the Bible study workload. We appreciate all prayers for the success of these efforts.”

Iuka church of Christ, Mississippi: Sam Glover (preacher) reports, “Things are proceeding well. We have four sets of cards to follow up with visits and visitors going out. We’ve also given some attention to members that we haven’t seen in a while, including two that I’ve reached out to myself. Our Fish Fry is this Saturday, and we’re excited for the opportunity it presents.”

Aberdeen church of Christ, Mississippi: Jonathan Hagar (preacher) reports, “We had a baptism this Sunday. One of the ladies who came initially as a visitor and who also received cards from us was baptized after the services this Sunday. She invited all her family and her best friend to come. They were very supportive, and hopefully, they will start attending services with her after seeing the love and encouragement she had from the church. We had two visitors return this Sunday. The door-knocking team went out again this past Saturday. They go out two or three times a month to reach the new movers and visitors to the church. They are an enthusiastic and busy group! They get together for breakfast in the morning at the church building to visit and plan the day, and then head out! We have two Bible studies set up this week. I am doing one, and a member is doing the other one. I love to see other members leading studies! The New Converts’ class is remaining strong. Many of the new converts are making an effort to attend the class and learn. It is so encouraging to the members to see them grow in the church. One member came up to me and said, ‘We are going to get double digits by the end of the year,’ [talking about the baptisms]! The numbers so far are as follows: nine baptisms, six restorations, 67 Bible studies, nine prospects, 938 cards sent, and 139 visits made. These numbers are from June (when we started the program) to the present date.”

Concord church of Christ, New Hampshire (remote): Shane Belinger (member) reports, “The church is currently involved in two productive studies. Justin began BTTB Book 3 today and hope to finish the remainder by the end of this week. Crystal will be finishing BTTB Book 3 this coming Wednesday. Other studies are trying to gain traction with Wendy, Chris, Stephanie, and Darrick. Lindy, who is currently in a health facility, was once involved with the Boston group years ago and attended a church of Christ in Vermont. She needs encouragement and prayers, and we hope to help her return to the church as soon as possible. We are planning to get her into lesson one of BTTB soon in order to help get her back on track. We have been spending time with Wendy, but she was not feeling well this past Sunday. The church had five visitors last Sunday. We will be busy this week sending out compassion cards to these people. We are continuing our training on Book 3 of BTTB this coming week.”

East Flushing church of Christ, New York (remote): Clarence Jenkins (preacher) reports, “We had six visitors Sunday. After worship service, we watched the video ‘Growing Church: The One Mission.’ Our metrics thus far for and through the month of October are seven baptisms, 15 visitors, 27 prospects,12 Bible studies, one new convert study, and 18 compassion cards. We appreciate all prayers.”

Linville Forest church of Christ, Kernersville, North Carolina: Kelly Brown (preacher) reports, “We had another baptism today! Jerry Clark baptized his cousin. Here is a summary of how this happened: First of all, he invited his cousin to church a few times. He started to come periodically. His attendance grew, and his curiosity was sparked. Jerry would go to dinner after church and would speak about what we learned from the service. During his last trip to the hospital, Jerry started introducing the importance of baptism into their talks. After a few studies, he agreed to be baptized. Today, a member of the church told him it was time for him to be added to the church and be baptized, and he stepped up. We are thankful that more people are being courageous and sharing the Gospel. To God be the Glory!”

Oak Forest church of Christ, Goldsboro, North Carolina: Dennis Mays (elder) reports, “We handed out to everyone present the post-evangelism seminar questionnaire, and almost all were returned.  We handed out the ‘Who’s My Neighbor?’ bookmark and asked members to list ten people they knew who are lost. We asked them to pray about these people and then bring information back to us. In every prayer that was said publicly on Sunday, the men who prayed asked God to help us become an evangelistic congregation and bring others to Christ.”

Glendale Street church of Christ, Newton, North Carolina (remote): Dayle Taylor (minister) reports, “We mailed 24 compassion cards. On Sunday, October 26, four visitors (one adult and three children) attended for their first time. The adult is a neighbor to one of our members. The congregation provided a meal and fellowshipped onsite with the visitors. Returning visitors, Mary and Lance, have agreed to visit our home this Friday, October 31, to share a meal and have a Bible study with us. Also on Sunday, October 26, Terry Hale visited while in town and introduced to the congregation a ‘role play’ training method designed for both door and pew greeters. The training included several challenging scenarios that members may face when non-members visit. Terry helped each participant identify individual strengths, weaknesses, and shortfalls so we could be deliberate and be intentional in collecting contact card information. The session was great and helpful. Today my wife, Denise, and I visited a disabled prospect at her home for the first time. She is the mother of a member, Eric Williams. We are scheduled to visit again next week to build our relationship.”

Alkire Road church of Christ, Grove City, Ohio: Tony Dunnagan (member) reports, “We had ten visitors this past week. Our members provided us with one new contact. We are currently involved in two Bible studies. We had one baptism. We have several transition visits coming up, and we are delivering 20-plus new movers baskets this coming Sunday.”

East Sparta church of Christ, Magnolia, Ohio: Andrew Masterson (preacher) reports, “We sent out 78 compassion cards this week. We had six visitors who returned from our Friends and Family Day. Our New Convert’s class is still going well. We are planning a couple of potential prospect visits this week or early next week.”

Coweta church of Christ, Oklahoma: Garrett Rankin (associate preacher) reports, “Last week, Houston and Patrick were able to schedule Lesson One of Back to the Bible with a lady who has visited several times since our community meal. She seems to really enjoy the congregation and readily accepted an invitation to study. We mailed out approximately 120 cards to several individuals this week and will follow up soon with transition visits.”

Marietta church of Christ, Oklahoma (remote): Chase Green (preacher) reports, “One of our deacons is currently teaching a combined middle school and high school class using Back to the Bible on Wednesday nights. I believe there are two or three teenagers in the class who have not yet obeyed the Gospel, including a couple who come from denominational backgrounds. The teacher is starting the red book of BTTB soon. We appreciate prayers that the hearts of these young people will be pricked so that they can realize the need to obey. We also have the husband of one of our members who has been attending consistently this year. He is a good prospect, though he comes from a Catholic background. I am considering giving him a copy of the book The Ivory Domino by brother Gary Henson, which is a book similar to Muscle and a Shovel, but it is written from the perspective of a man converting out of Catholicism. Please pray for us regarding these efforts.”

Union church of Christ, South Carolina (remote): Kent Thompson (member) reports, “We will try prospecting different contacts this week. We appreciate prayers as we contact others.”

New Union church of Christ, Manchester, Tennessee: Paul Fulks (elder) reports, “We had nine visitors last week, and our members turned in four new contacts. During our compassion card meeting, we prepared 41 cards to be sent out during the week. We made three visits during the week. Our New Convert’s class has two students.”

White Bluff church of Christ, Tennessee: Shamron Jackson (elder) reports, “We are beginning compassion cards this Sunday. We had six or seven contact cards. We are working on the teams that will follow up with the cards we send. The goal is to have them trained and ready to go by the last week in November, when this Sunday’s prospects have received three weeks’ worth of cards. We had three families and a couple of individuals visit for a total of 12 visitors. We were able to take one of those to lunch. The two families are members of the church that have moved to the area. We appreciate prayers for this week. We have one study in the red book and three new studies starting this week. Our Trunk or Treat is Friday, and we plan to have an area with hot chocolate where we can interact and make contacts. We had some children’s Bibles that were a huge hit at our Fall Festival. We also plan to have those available if they are willing to fill out a card for us to bring the Bible to them. The Gospel works if we will just do our part.  God is Awesome!”

Freewill church of Christ, Gainesboro, Tennessee (remote): Andrew Scott (preacher) reports, “Our four visitors were back at services tonight. We have been flooding them with cards over the past few weeks. Two of them desired to know more about what the Bible teaches about baptism! We scheduled lunch and the Bible study for Thursday. We ask for prayers for this study with Borck and Savannah McQuiston. Then on Thursday, I used Does it Matter because they were so eager to learn. We rejoiced on Thursday with Brock and Savanna McQuiston and Judy Stacy as they were all baptized into Christ. After studying God’s word, they all knew what is needed for Gospel obedience. Please join us in welcoming them to the Body of Christ.”

Cookeville church of Christ, Tennessee: Joshua Kennedy (preacher) reports, “We have new compassion cards going out this week. We are working on possibly a couple studies in the near future. We had some contacts made from our door-knocking that we will be following up on when I get back. We are also going to have a class in a few weeks to encourage more folks to work with evangelism.”

Ocoee Street church of Christ, Copperhill, Tennessee: R.E. Vann (elder) reports, “Our 2025 Year-to-Date metrics are:  37 visitors, 58 Love Our Neighbors (prospects), 959 compassion cards sent, 53 transition visits made, five Bible studies, four baptisms (our goal is five), and one restoration (our goal is nine). We continue having a good number of repeat local visitors. Our two Bible studies have had some work schedule conflicts, but we are praying they will resume this week.”

West Sparta church of Christ, Tennessee: Justin Turney (deacon) reports, “We have had two baptisms since we began the program. At the moment, we have 17 prospects and five Bible studies, and we have sent approximately 150 cards. We met with our study team last week, and we handed out names for them to visit. This will be our first round of going to visit prospects, and we are excited to see what might happen!”

West Fayetteville church of Christ, Tennessee: Steve Jefferson (elder) reports, “We have two community outreach events this week. We are having a ‘Trunk or Treat’ after Wednesday night Bible classes. We are also hosting a seminar on dealing with grief with Jeff Jenkins on November 1-2. Over the past two weeks, Compassion Card Teams 1 and 3 have sent out a total of 105 cards to five contacts.”

Grundy Street church of Christ, Tullahoma, Tennessee: John Summers (preacher) reports, “We had four visitors this week. We continue this month to send cards to those who are wayward Christians. We are now sending each person one or two cards each day. We will be sending cards in the next cycle to folks who are dealing with cancer or other serious health issues.”

Arlington church of Christ, Tennessee: Brandon Tibbits (preacher) reports, “We began our campaign and Gospel Meeting last night! We have about 20 people who are door-knocking in the community this week. We went over the House to House/ Heart to Heart training with them, as well as some of the things I have learned from my sales training! On Monday, we knocked on 668 doors, made four prospects, and set up one Bible study. We are asking at this time for prayers of success for this endeavor, and that the Gospel is spread and souls are saved!”

Chapel Hill church of Christ, Tennessee: Matt Jones (deacon) reports, “Our Community Table Wednesday night had several visitors. Our visitors have been greeted warmly. We still have several ongoing Bible studies with prospects. Our card-writing teams continue to meet weekly and send out cards to various contacts. New mover baskets are going out. Overall, all areas are staying focused on reaching the lost.”

Mountain Creek church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee: Michael Tomshack (elder) reports, “Each eldership faces the challenge of balancing the spiritual needs of individual members who are grappling with life’s difficulties, consistently nurturing the growth of new Christian members, continuing to engage with members who have distanced themselves from fellowship, and reaching out to new contacts. Effectively balancing the full responsibility of being both elders and disciples of Christ is not unique to the eldership at Mountain Creek. We earnestly pray for wisdom, understanding, and strength as we remain steadfast in our commitment to God’s Word and consistently sow the seed at every opportunity. Each individual in the world possesses the inherent right to reject Christ. We proceed forward with unwavering resolve.”

McEwen church of Christ, Tennessee: John Jones (preacher) reports, “We are continuing our study with the men from the linemen college. Eight are studying and six will be looking at baptism tonight. Please pray for their hearts to be receptive to the Truth. Another couple will be studying baptism next Sunday during our regular study. Two of the local kids’ soccer teams will be having their awards night in our building this week, and we hope to pique their interest in Bible study. The new movers’ plan is going well, too, but no visitors from it yet.”

Collierville church of Christ, Tennessee: Justin Evergarden (evangelist) reports, “We currently have 30 active prospects either in studies or in follow-up. So far this year, our members have sent out 613 cards, each one filled with prayer and encouragement to touch hearts in our community. We have also delivered 15 welcome baskets to new movers in our area—a simple way to show love, start conversations, and open doors for future Bible studies. Most importantly, we rejoice to share that on Tuesday, October 21, at 2:33 a.m., we welcomed a new brother into the Lord’s family! Drake Bowen made the beautiful decision to put on Christ in baptism. The joy of that moment has filled our hearts and renewed our zeal to keep planting and watering, knowing that God gives the increase. We thank God for the opportunities He continues to provide and for partners like House to House/Heart to Heart that help us reach our community with the Gospel.”

Soddy church of Christ, Tennessee: Joe Mallory (preacher) reports, “Many of our ladies were able to spend some wonderful time in Bible study and fellowship in the Smoky Mountains for their annual Ladies retreat. Among them was one of our prospects! She was invited to join them after visiting and studying with us over the past few weeks. We are so thankful for opportunities to grow our connections with one another while teaching others about our glorious Savior and His blood-bought church. We hope to continue our studies this week with our prospects and reach out to those to whom we have been sending cards. The fields are white unto harvest (John 4:35)!”

Hillcrest church of Christ, Springfield, Tennessee: Tim Taylor (evangelist) reports, “Our annual Trunk or Treat hosted lots of visitors from the community for a meal and family-friendly activities. Our associate preacher, Cole, and one of our elders, Jeff, manned a table and gave away 36 Bibles. We look forward to following up with 31 new contacts.”

Covington church of Christ, Tennessee: Wayne Dalrymple (elder) reports, “We continue to be blessed with prospects. We have sent dozens of compassion cards to prospects this week. We will begin transitioning to Bible studies (hopefully) very soon. We currently have three Bible studies ongoing. We also have two more that will begin soon. One man I have studied with is contemplating baptism. We pray that he will soon make the decision to put the Lord on in baptism. We had a large number of non-Christian visitors at our service last Sunday. The harvest is plentiful there. This Sunday, we will have our Friends and Family Day. It is the day we encourage our members to invite as many loved ones as possible. We hope to have a large number of visitors that we can prospect as well. Robby Eversole will be our guest speaker. We ask for prayers for a successful day.”

Birdwell Chapel church of Christ, Cottontown, Tennessee: Kerry England (elder) reports, “Our Trunk or Treat was a success Sunday evening! This was the first time we really reached out to our neighbors. We made some friends and contacts with visitors from the community. Many stayed for pizza and sandwiches, with a few staying for the worship service. We will follow up with cards in the coming weeks. Two Bible studies ongoing, and the New Convert’s class will start this coming Sunday.”

Rivergate church of Christ, Madison, Tennessee: Doug Tooley (preacher) reports, “We had two visitors on Wednesday. We had four visitors on Sunday morning. We had a Fall Festival after evening services. We had six visitors who stayed and ate with us. One visit was made last week.”

Eisenhower church of Christ, Odessa, Texas: Allen Weakland (elder) reports, “Our Fall Festival was a huge hit. I am guessing that it was our biggest effort to date. Our attention was focused upon gathering names and contact information, which has led to restoration and Bible studies in past years.  We appreciate prayers as we will continue to receive opportunities toward prospects for the Kingdom.”

Granbury Street church of Christ, Cleburne, Texas: Ryan Cowan (deacon) reports, “We are so pleased to let everyone know that Dewayne Reeder and Cynthia Akin were recently baptized. Dewayne and Cynthia were referred to us by another member about one month ago. John was able to study with this couple. As of now, we have about nine Bible studies taking place from our ‘mini AMC’ efforts a few weeks ago. It has been amazing to see how many members are prepared to conduct these studies. This past month has been very encouraging!”

Wheeler church of Christ, Texas: Garrett English (preacher) reports, “The visiting family from last Sunday attended Wednesday evening services and enjoyed it, even saying, ‘I love the church of Christ’ as the woman entered our Ladies’ Bible class. We know they are looking for a Bible-teaching church now. We encouraged them to stay for worship after class yesterday, and they did. I plan to reach out and ask what their thoughts were and about studying specifically in the Lord’s church.”

Roanoke church of Christ, Texas: Caleb Rutherford (preacher) reports, “We had a couple of events this past weekend. First was our Fall Festival on Saturday. This consisted of trunk or treat, games, a meal, and pumpkin painting. We handed out a few hundred invites during Roanoke Days a few weekends ago. Because of that, we had 26 visitors from the community. We are working on following up with them, as well as looking ahead to next year’s Fall Festival, and how we can improve it. The second thing that took place was the first installment of what we are calling ‘Impact Sunday.’ We will be doing this every last Sunday of each month. Instead of our usual 5:00 p.m. worship, we had a 1:30 p.m. worship service. When that concluded, our card-writing groups wrote cards as usual, but our New Movers/Door Knocking teams met, and our Transition Visit team also met. We were able to go to several new movers and deliver baskets, and six transition visits were made. One Bible study was scheduled. In addition to that, we also have five other Bible studies taking place. They are all progressing in the right direction, and I pray we can report on baptisms soon. To God be glory!”

Bridge Avenue church of Christ, Weslaco, Texas: Braulio Carvajal III (preacher) reports, “This week we had two visits with contacts at an apartment complex where we are conducting a Bible study. We had five prospects at our Wednesday Bible study, and on Sunday, we had two visitors and three prospects. We have three ongoing Bible studies at this time. Our elders continue to deliver a short message, pray for our congregation’s evangelism ministry, and provide time for individual prayer from our bookmarks every Sunday morning before the sermon. God has continued to bless our congregation with people wanting to hear about His Word.”

Seagoville church of Christ, Texas: Kodie Martin (evangelist) reports, “Compassion Card Group A wrote 44 cards, which we will mail evenly throughout the week. This was our first session, so it was encouraging to see so many who want to participate (even kids and youth). We also discussed the importance of reaching out to the unfaithful and training the congregation on the steps. We are thankful that the eldership here is taking their roles seriously. Lastly, we had a higher-than-anticipated turnout for our Trunk or Treat. We advertised locally and had around 200-300 guests, and we made 70 contacts from the event. Safe to say, we have much follow-up to do to cultivate these into prospects. One of our prospects, Jenna, showed up. She is soon needing a kidney transplant, so we have sent her love and encouragement, and it was a blessing to meet her. All in all, we had a blessed Lord’s Day!”

North Jefferson church of Christ, Mt. Pleasant, Texas: Davin Whatley (evangelist) reports, “I made a contact through one of the brethren in our nursing home ministry. This contact lives in Tyler, so I am connecting him with Kris Groda, our minister who is moving to become the pulpit minister in Whitehouse (a bedroom community of Tyler). I also met a woman visiting a family member in the nursing home. After sitting through our Tuesday study, she is interested in receiving material. On Wednesday, I went door-knocking with one of our adults and four of our young people. We knocked around 45 doors and made two contacts! They were both on our compassion card list and Reach Team 2 met yesterday. Also, we had 21 visitors to our morning worship for our Gospel Meeting yesterday (at least 12 of whom are not Christians, and two were first-time visitors), and we had seven visitors last night. I was blessed to schedule a dinner with two of our prospects for November 8, at which time we will seek to set up a Bible study. We are excited for the opportunities that God has ahead for us! Also, one of our members, Keely, made contact with a family who just moved to the community on Monday. Keely invited the family to her home for dinner, and Mrs. Settle (the new mover) took her up on it! Keely is planning to have some of our young men over for dinner to make friends with the Settles’ teenage boys.”

Southwest church of Christ, Austin, Texas: Bryce Mayfield (evangelist) reports, “We have four Bible studies going on at the moment, all at different phases. We are beginning follow-up work concerning those we have been receiving cards. We are working to be better at greeting visitors and getting Bible studies. It is an exciting time for evangelism here in Austin.”

Northern Oaks church of Christ, San Antonio, Texas: Mel Hutzler (elder) reports, “Our Gospel Meeting was a blessing. Ronnie Scherffius’s lessons were on point for the congregation and community. We had a visitor this past Sunday who brought her father and his fiancée with her. We continue to work the model. We did follow-up work this week, which led to settling up a study with Devon, his fiancée, and his mother. We also have had to restock our visitor bags multiple times. This past Sunday, we had six families visit for AM and three visit for PM services. We have many visitors who need to be visited this week. We are currently in five Bible studies, along with six new conversion studies.”

Bridgewater church of Christ, Texas: Doug Suggs (deacon) reports, “We had a Bible study with Dacaila and Anthony Thursday evening. We will have the next study next Thursday. Jim has a study ongoing with one of the Spanish women right now, and we pray that will produce good results. On Saturday, November 1, we will be going into the community to advertise our meeting with Mike Vestal on November 9. Mike’s lessons are going to be evangelistic in nature. We look forward to a good meeting and hopefully an opportunity to get prospects. We appreciate all prayers.”

Howe church of Christ, Texas: Aaron Alsbrook (preacher) reports, “We had a wonderful group of members last night at our community’s downtown Halloween Festival, in which we allowed the children to participate in a putt-putt game. Each child received a warm smile and encouragement from our members, but more importantly, we handed out 100 New Testaments and invitations to come and worship. It was a beautiful thing to see members care about souls!”

Wasatch church of Christ, Utah (remote): Daniel Welker (preacher) reports, “On Friday, we had our Trunk or Treat. We had at least 60 families from the community who attended; 16 families were interested in studying the Bible, and 25 were interested in more information about the church. We had several requests for prayers for various needs going on in their lives. On a sad note, one of our more faithful members passed away. Most of the family has fallen away from the church, but one of his sons expressed interest in being baptized. We did the Bible study first, and he responded in baptism. My wife has three Bible studies in progress from her Facebook outreach.”

Williamsburg church of Christ, Virginia: Jim Bishop (elder) reports, “This week we are revising our compassion card groups by adding those who have moved from other congregations and some of the newer converts. This will be an ongoing process to keep the compassion card groups energized. One Bible study is in progress, and we pray her heart will be touched and her soul saved. Our prayers go out for all those who are working to spread the Gospel. May God bless you with many opportunities.”

West Side church of Christ, Salem, Virginia: Jeff Durham (elder) reports, “Our monthly visit assignment meeting was encouraging. We shared stories of visits and what seemed to be working well. We discussed those with whom we are having studies and new converts whom we are mentoring. Our Bible class study was from Luke 15, ‘The Prodigal/Lost Son.’ We noted that the father was eager for his son to come home. Our Father has the same longing for those who are lost to ‘come home.’ We discussed the elder brother’s poor attitude and the need for us to avoid feeling that way towards the lost. We should rejoice every time a lost soul is back in faithful service to our King!”
