Editor’s Note: Love, care, goodness, and kindness are Kingdom tools. Christians give of their own free will, while asking for no donations. We do not need boat/car shows or exhibits to bring people. We do not raise funds using carwashes and cakewalks, for this is without scriptural support. We reject the social connect movement (formerly called the social gospel) as an effective form of evangelism. Evangelism is the congregational work of sowing compassion seeds to till the soils of the hearts. Practicing Christianity is powerful and can bring people on its own merits. This past week, the West Side church of Christ embodied this work, and we submit their update for your consideration.

Sowing Seeds of Kindness
Written by Jeff Durham

Our Community Support Day was a resounding success! Around 80 people from our community came to select items like clothing, shoes, home decorations, and diapers/wipes. They enjoyed hot dogs, chips, and desserts. Many positive comments were made; people could not believe we were giving away all these things for FREE! The West Side family had 55 members participating in the event: assisting the “shoppers” find items, making and serving the food, making conversation, and making Mother’s Day cards with the children.

Although helping our neighbors with their physical needs is important, our main objective was getting contact information for Bible study follow-up. We had handouts with links to various Bible-based videos and information about upcoming events for them to attend with us (School Backpack Giveaway, Youth and Family Day—a Youth Rally type event) and information, such as our service times. Seventeen prayer request cards were completed, so we can begin mailing compassion cards and making follow-up visits. We could feel the positive energy from our members, many of whom stepped out of their comfort zones to participate. We are prayerful that making these new connections will give us the opportunity to share the saving message of the Gospel with them.

Congregational Reports

Welcome Soddy church of Christ, Soddy Daisy, Tennessee: We welcome the Soddy church of Christ to the House to House/Heart to Heart School of Evangelism. The eldership, preacher, and membership were engaged at a high level throughout the training. Joe Mallory was a student of HTHSOE during his time at MSOP. Upon arriving, he immediately began practicing evangelism. His family has already brought many to Christ. Now they are ready to do it on a congregational scale. We can hardly wait to see what God does through them.

Glencoe church of Christ, Alabama: Keith Ritchie (evangelist) reports, “Glencoe church of Christ had several visitors Sunday, and a prospect turned into a Bible study. This addition makes seven studies. Another prospect has now been added to the list as well. There is plenty of work to do in the Kingdom! Emphasis will be placed on our children taking part in evangelism as well. All ages can be workers and help broaden the borders of the church. To God be the glory!”

Central church of Christ, Saraland, Alabama: David Dixon (preacher) reports, “Mother’s Day is always a big day. Several members whom had not been with us for several weeks have returned. We had a few visitors who are becoming regulars. We are in a hectic season with school ending and summer beginning. Evangelism never takes a break. We have several opportunities for Bible studies. Card writing has been effective recently, and we continue to pray for our prospects weekly. Having been focused on evangelism for over a year now, Central expects results. It almost feels like failure when we go a month or two without a baptism. But the work is still progressing, and we know God will give the increase. We appreciate all prayers!”

Cedar Grove church of Christ, Andalusia, Alabama: Josh Halloway (preacher) reports, “We have been praying hard and working hard, and this week, we had some amazing results. Two souls obeyed the Gospel. One of our members has been studying with her son and granddaughter, which led to them both being baptized this weekend. Our baptism goal is 15, and so far, we have had five baptisms and two restorations. Two people are in continual weekly studies with us right now, and another is scheduled to start on Friday. My two elders and I made 19 visits to our wayward members and potential prospects this week. Different visits had various results, but almost all were positive. We have made good ground with many. Four of the folks we contacted this week were at services on Sunday. One of our prospects who finished the Bible lessons did not obey the Gospel due to some discouragement. She had stopped coming to church for several weeks. We have prayed so hard for her soul, made several visits, and started sending cards. This week, she and her husband called and asked for a home visit and a study (which lasted for about three hours with very great results). She and her husband returned to worship with us again on Sunday. I believe she will soon obey the Gospel!”

Hartselle church of Christ, Alabama: Justin Smith (preacher) reports, “Our sermons on evangelism and talking about the bookmarks weekly are striking a chord with our members. Every week, I have someone come up to talk to me about someone in their life who needs the Gospel. This was a rare occasion, just a few weeks ago. Members are excitedly showing me their bookmarks with 10 names. Our implementation is slow but steady as we are assigning coordinators. I sense a growing ‘buy-in’ from each person as we talk about involvement. We are praying daily for God to bless our work as we seek to broaden the borders of His Kingdom.”

West Huntsville church of Christ, Alabama: Paul Owen (evangelist) reports, “Our weekly compassion cards are making an impact. We are getting thank you notes to the congregation from the compassion card recipients, and also, we study every couple of weeks. We had a baptism last night! God is gracious to us all.”

Highland Park church of Christ, Muscle Shoals, Alabama: Andrew Myhan (deacon) reports, “For the first time since August, we had to publicly ask the congregation for more contacts to add to our list of people receiving cards. This is impressive because we have been able to receive 90 percent of our contacts from one source. It is also exciting to utilize other modes of getting contacts that we have yet to try.”

Creekwood church of Christ, Mobile, Alabama: Tucker Presley (preacher) reports, “My dad baptized a young man on Friday evening at our building! He had been studying with some men from a congregation in Mississippi, but he lives in Mobile. I am not sure how he connected with the congregation in Mississippi, but since he lives in Mobile, he was baptized at Creekwood. We will follow up with him. We still have one Bible study ongoing. Cards are being sent every week. Our biggest crowd gathered last night to write cards. One of our prospects stated he wanted to visit soon and thanked us for the cards. We hope he will come, so we can initiate the visitor’s work.”

Petersville church of Christ, Florence, Alabama: Adam Richardson (preacher) reports, “Petersville had another baptism last night! One of our teens, Charlie, has been asking questions, and our youth minister studied with her before she made the decision to give her life to Christ. We sent 108 compassion cards last week, and it seems our new approach to distributing those is having an effect. There were five visiting families at morning worship, most for Mother’s Day. Also, a family placed membership; they had not been attending for nearly a year. God is good!”

Hatton church of Christ, Town Creek, Alabama: Chris Miller (preacher) reports, “We had our senior night last night with a number of visiting families of recent converts. They are on our list of really good potential contacts, and we are working with them. While things are going well for us, we are also looking forward to our refresher course coming up in a few weeks!”

Mountain Home church of Christ, Arkansas: Joshua Adams (preacher) reports, “Last night after services, 25 card writers met and wrote 105 cards for 21 people! Our door-knocking group met to strategize and divide our first batch of recipients, and we are going out this week to seek Bible studies. Our New Members class is ongoing and has encouraged a few new members who have been less consistent in worship. Additionally, through prayer and cards, several lapsed member couples have started attending again! We have four ongoing Bible studies with more on the way!”

Rison church of Christ, Arkansas: Keden Shrum (preacher) reports, “I did another lesson on evangelism. We have not had any new contacts in a couple of weeks. Keno Shrum is coming to do a refresh to help fire us up and provide some additional training.”

Windsor church of Christ, Colorado: Lucas Stephens (member) reports, “We had a great worship service this week on Mother’s Day. We had several visitors with hopes of a Bible study. We sent cards to our seven prospects and will increase our current prospect list to ten this next week due to our New Movers program. We visited five more families this week.”

Lake Forest church of Christ, Jacksonville, Florida: Brian Howard (preacher) reports, “One of our erring members came back this Sunday as a response to the cards we have been sending out. Praise the Lord! Our prospect list continues to grow. We have preached through the John 4 lessons.”

Margaret Street church of Christ, Milton, Florida: Troy Spradlin (preacher) reports, “We rejoice with the angels in Heaven once more as two more precious souls were added to the Lord’s Kingdom this past week! Elena and Bella Hudgens were baptized into Christ by their dad (and one of our evangelism coordinators, Billy Hudgens). With all the talk and work concerning evangelism and baptism, these two girls began asking more and more questions. The family sat down and watched some WVBS videos together on the subject, and they decided it was time. We are, indeed, focused outward evangelistically, but we must never forget the precious souls that need to be saved among the families of our congregation. Our current 2025 Year-to-Date Accountability Board numbers are: 158 Contacts; 30 Visitors; 81 Neighbors (prospects whom we have loved and/or studied with); 39 Bible studies (total completed); 1167 Compassion Cards sent; and nine Baptisms.”

Niceville church of Christ, Florida: Joe Palmer (preacher) reports, “This week we sent out 28 cards, had four Bible studies, and had one local visitor at church. We currently have 15 active prospects; six are in studies, and nine are approachable for a study. On Sunday, we will have our monthly meeting for all our workers and leaders. We will do some training, make some follow-up assignments, and get feedback from our leaders. We hope many will attend this meeting and learn more about how to get involved.”

Eatonton church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Roderick Coney (minister) reports, “We currently have two folks on our prospect list and are working to increase it. We have one open Bible study. We are in Lesson 2 of Back to the Bible.”

Lafayette church of Christ, Georgia: Jesse Teague (deacon) reports, “It was the second Saturday of the month, so we met to go door knocking. We had about 27 names for ‘new movers’ and some follow-up visits from previous contacts. We had about 14 members participating. Each team of two or three took notes on the names and addresses and then wrote their names at the top of the page so we would know how the visit was made and if there were questions later. Based on the notes and recommendations of the folks doing the visits, we filled out seven contact cards to put in the queue for compassion cards next month. This way, we have a ‘cold’ visit, followed up by cards to show the folks we love them, and then follow up with ‘warm’ visits the next month.”

Cartersville church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Charles Harris (regional trainer) reports, “Bible studies are ongoing. Many visits are being made to set up Bible studies. Our reworked card groups are doing well.”

Woodstock church of Christ, Georgia: Larkin Cook (member) reports, “The WCOC congregation attended the Sunabella of Towne Lake Assistant Living devotional on Sunday. They had five non-Christian attendees. The Prison Ministry Group attended studies at a Youth Super-Max Facility. The Compassion Cards Group sent 25 compassion cards this week. We had nine non-Christian visitors this Sunday morning. We also had five Bibles studies and one baptism.”

Bremen church of Christ, Georgia: Scott Broughton (evangelist) reports, “Our New Converts class is continuing with good attendance. We started a new Bible study this past week using the Back to the Bible study guides.”

Collinsville-Troy church of Christ, Illinois: Jason Wright (elder) reports, “We handed out two visitor bags on Sunday. We had our largest attendance in years as well, and we are excited. We made several New Movers Basket deliveries and did follow-up visits earlier in the week. We mailed 90 compassion cards and handed out invitation cards to the congregation. We mailed out more than 35 invites to our upcoming VBS. We conducted four personal Bible studies with more scheduled this week. This Saturday, we will be going door-to-door to deliver New Movers’ Baskets and make follow-up visits. On Sunday, we had our S.O.S. hands-on training. We simulated delivering baskets to three different types of people: one who was a bit grumpy, one who was not a new mover, and one who was very receptive. This type of training builds confidence and know-how to those who will be involved in evangelism. We reviewed the different strategies and the reason for the different strategies—contacts! Every Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, we go out and make visits. Our clothing closet will be open two days this month to provide another opportunity to create contacts. We are looking forward to AMC in Ohio!”

Judah church of Christ, Bloomington, Indiana: Joe Moon (preacher) reports, “We added two new people to our compassion cards this week. One is a co-worker of a member who lost her newborn child, and the other is a man who lost his father. We are also sending compassion cards to two others. We have not made any visits this month, but should have four or five families ready for a visit by the end of May.”

Highland Village church of Christ, Bloomington, Indiana: Mark Stauffer (elder) reports, “Highland Village church of Christ sent 35 cards in the last week. We have four prospects, and we had five visitors for worship. Weekly training for the congregation is ongoing.”

Beloit church of Christ, Kansas (remote): Dustin Dougherty (regional trainer) reports, “We had 39 for Sunday morning services, with two visitors, one of whom has been with us before. We were able to give a visitor gift to the other one; it was good practice. We are going to have some training on the new movers’ baskets and make a few adjustments very soon. There is an area congregation that has a couple of hot contacts, and I am going to do what I can to assist them. I will be back in Ransom, Kansas, to preach and teach the Sunday morning class this coming Sunday; I look forward to being with the saints there. To God be all glory and honor.”

Poole church of Christ, Kentucky: Andrew Wynne (preacher) reports, “On this past Sunday, we had a crowd of 41 for our morning worship service, which is slightly larger than normal. One of our visitors was a lady who has been receiving our compassion cards. She was very thankful for them. Another visitor come with her boyfriend, who is a member at Poole. We plan to send her cards to thank her for visiting with us. Our Wednesday night Bible class continues to go well as we study through Back to the Bible. We appreciate all prayers for our evangelism efforts.”

Madisonville church of Christ, Kentucky: Russell Kline (preacher) reports, “There are currently no in-home Bible studies in progress. We have 12 people enrolled in Bible Correspondence Courses. Three of them are active. We had 12 visitors last Sunday. One of them was a contact we made through the New Movers program. We had a meeting last Sunday to organize our Mission Mondays program. The brethren decided that they would rather meet on Sunday evenings. Our first official meeting will take place next Sunday.”

Central church of Christ, Paducah, Kentucky: Adam Faughn (preacher) reports, “This week was spent doing our ‘regular’ things, such as sending cards, but was also spent time trying to follow up with several recent guests. Thankfully, at least one Bible study has been set up for this week, and we are praying for more. We are also promoting our upcoming Vacation Bible School and evaluating it to make sure we are ready for guests, so that it is evangelistic in nature. We are seeing so many good things happen, and it is exciting to try to please God with each of these souls.”

Gonzales church of Christ, Louisiana: Patrick Adkins (deacon) reports, “We had our official start date yesterday. James preached Part 1 of the John 4 lesson, and we did the model training for afternoon service. We handed out the bookmarks and had them filled out. We have three studies with four prospects going, and though none were conducted this week, they are committed dates. We are definitely trying to get this off the ground slowly and not be overwhelmed. We appointed the four critical positions on the chart, and we are working to have all filled within the week.”

Chalmette church of Christ, Louisiana: “On Tuesday, two members have a Zoom meeting with Rob. One will serve as the administrator and the other as the communicator. They are going through the training and assigning coordinators.”

Aberdeen church of Christ, Maryland: Will Brown (preacher) reports, “We have two ongoing Bible studies. Seven cards have been sent this month. We are working to get the new Christians involved. One Christian moved to the area and asked to be recognized as a congregation member. We are planning for the summer months and this fall. We appreciate all prayers for our efforts.”

La Plata church of Christ, Maryland (remote): Eric Sykes (regional trainer) reports, “We wrote 35 compassion cards and completed training with the video of the week class (14 members) on Back to the Bible, Book 1, and we will start Book 2 of BTTB on Friday. The Advanced Teacher Training class (six members) had a delay in training last week. We are starting Chapter 4 of How to Close the Study; the title is Closing Techniques. Our Wednesday night Bible study class (17 members) is completing Chapter 3 of Growing in Christ this week. We had one visitor last week. He left as the invitation was being given, so we missed offering to take him to lunch after service. We pray he will return next week. He is a member of the Body looking for a new church home. We currently have seven prospects and five open Bible studies. We are studying Searching for Truth with a couple who have completed Back to the Bible and Does It Matter? They have indicated that they want to be baptized, but they have not decided when. They have attended several worship services, and they want to get together to study the Bible. We hope to start them on Searching for Truth this week. We ask for prayers for this situation. We are still trying to get the prospects to complete Book 3 of Back to the Bible. They are both taking online studies via Zoom; one is in New York, and the other is in North Carolina. We request prayers for these studies. Also, my granddaughter is starting Book 2 of BTTB with one of her classmates. They both graduate next week. We request prayers for our family as we strive to do the Lord’s work of spreading the Gospel here in La Plata. We are praying that the weather clears up soon so we can take Jeremiah door knocking again.”

West End Blvd church of Christ, Cape Girardeau, Missouri: Jared Scaggs (preacher) reports, “We have had two baptisms in the last month. I have a Bible study that is studying the second lesson right now.”

Marshall church of Christ, Missouri (remote): Charles Reid (preacher) reports, “On Sunday, we had six nonmember visitors. One was six-year-old girl, two middle-aged ladies who were friends of each other, one of whom brought the six-year-old girl, one girlfriend of a college student who is a member, a middle-aged couple who visited as a result of our door-knocking efforts last summer or fall. We got their info and mailed cards to them. We plan to visit them soon. The visitation team consists of my wife and me. We also have a meal and Bible study with a new convert couple every Thursday night.”

Samford church of Christ, Steele, Missouri: Kyle Imel (deacon) reports, “Tim, our preacher, visited with Amy this past week and went through book one with her. Book two is scheduled for this week. We are studying with a teen, Jackson, on Wednesday nights. We started book three last Wednesday night, and he is asking questions and is engaged with us. One of our teens is responsible for setting up the study.”

Iuka church of Christ, Mississippi: Sam Glover (preacher) reports, “We had two new prospects visit with us yesterday, attending both services. One of our members who excels in outreach has already established good rapport with them and is following up. We sent out cards today. With one of the major places that does food giveaways scaling down and closing doors, I foresee potential for a major opportunity not only for benevolence, but for outreach as well.”

East Flushing church of Christ, New York (remote): Clarence Jenkins (preacher) reports, “We had two visits during the week last week. We had five visitors in the worship service. Our metrics thus far, for and through the month of May, are two baptisms, 26 compassion cards, 15 prospects, nine Bible studies, and one in the New Convert class. We appreciate all prayers.”

New Concord church of Christ, Ohio: Terry Townsend (preacher) reports, “This past Sunday we had more first-time visitors. One of the families that visited last week (we made a follow-up visit with them) was back this Sunday! Compassion cards will be going out to each of these new people. Each visitor also received a ‘welcome’ gift. No new Bible studies were reported this week. ‘Transitional visits’ are ongoing, and we pray studies will result from these. Tim Pratt was baptized, and we welcomed him to the congregation.”

Whispering Hills church of Christ, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma: Matt McBrayer (preacher) reports, “We had nine visitors on Sunday and sent out 86 compassion cards. We have a probable Bible study that we are scheduling, and we are looking forward to this study as it has been a long process getting to this point. The elders and I met about our HTHSOE and are moving toward more training of our coordinators and teams. Please pray that we will continue in our fervor.”

Owasso church of Christ, Oklahoma: David Combs (elder) reports, “We enjoyed an excellent sermon from our Youth and Family minister, Tim Bowman. We prayed for the folks on our bookmark cards. The following evening, Group 2 met for 45 minutes with 16 writers to write 105 cards to be mailed out this week to seven people. We have one Bible study in progress and five transition visits before Wednesday.”

Coweta church of Christ, Oklahoma: Keno Shrum (regional trainer) reports, “Our second Bible Study with Brenden and Dawn has been postponed due to the sudden death of Dawn’s father. We will pick up as soon as we can get it scheduled, possibly in a couple of weeks. On Thursday, Jamie and I are having several new converts over for dinner and a Bible study as we work to mentor them. Mentorship is imperative to retention. We are working with a waitress at a local restaurant as well, hoping to build a relationship and get her into a Bible study.”

York church of Christ, Pennsylvania: Mark Rashke (deacon) reports, “In York, we sent visitor cards to a recent visitor and arranged for a visit to another recent visitor. We also continued some studies and met with a couple who recently began visiting our congregation after attending a nearby denominational church. We explained the difference between being baptized to join a church and baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We request prayers for these individuals to make good decisions.”

Union church of Christ, South Carolina (remote): Terry Hale (evangelist) reports, “We had five in the New Convert class this week, and they are really enjoying the Acts Workbook. We had five visits with three studies in Book 1 and one study in Book 3. Also, we mailed cards to the visitors we had.”

Chapel Hill church of Christ, Tennessee: Matt Jones (deacon) reports, “We have had visitors continuing to join our Community Table outreach. We are delivering new mover baskets to five or six families each month as well. Our Compassion Card team is doing a great job of staying on top of the cards that need to be written. We have two ongoing Bible studies and are praying for those.”

Stoney Creek church of Christ, Elizabethton, Tennessee: Mike Blevins (elder) reports, “We are using the Bible study pamphlets and the emphasis on member needs and new member opportunities. We have had seven baptisms and four restorations so far this year. We have a good chance of a conversion and restoration in a study session tomorrow night. We are also studying with a person who was brought up in Buddhism. Her husband was baptized in March. We will pass on the additional training.”

Sycamore Chapel church of Christ, Ashland City, Tennessee: Robert Winters (elder) reports, “We passed out our post-seminar survey and collected many from our members. We also passed out our bookmarks and explained them to everyone. We are continuing our planning and naming coordinators for each aspect of the work.”

McKenzie church of Christ, Tennessee: Randall McCadams (elder) reports, “We have begun our second week of card mail-outs to four members who are shut-ins due to illness or age and two non-members. We rejoiced in the baptism last week of a young man, Josh, who is dating one of our young ladies in our church. We are looking forward to seeing him mature into a great servant to our Lord. Though our contacts are comparatively few, they are consistent in number each month. One thing we are excited about is that our numbers in attendance continue to increase. We have recently lost two families who moved out of town, which we regret, but we are faithful that our Lord will replace them in the near future. We are now in search of a good youth minister, so if you know of one, give us his name.”

Cookeville church of Christ, Tennessee: Jonathan Medley (elder) reports, “We are continuing to send cards to two of the prospects from last week. I had my first study session last week with Jared, and it went great. We are targeting a meeting every Tuesday to study, and we will start going through the booklets. We also added a new prospect this week; she is a young lady who moved to Tennessee from Nebraska recently. She and her two young children have attended two local community churches, but they have not been happy with what they are finding. After a random encounter with one of our members, she said she would like to visit us soon.”

Philadelphia church of Christ, Lebanon, Tennessee (remote): Alex DeGraves (associate preacher) reports, “We have nine or ten prospects currently, and the first round of compassion cards is almost fully mailed out! We will be looking into the training for visiting teams this Sunday. We request prayers that these opportunities can bear fruit. Finally, we will finalize the post-seminar survey this week and give it to the members. While long overdue, we hope it can help the church by identifying talents and encouraging people to desire to work.”

Ocoee Street church of Christ, Tennessee: R.E. Vann (elder) reports, “All glory to God as we had our first restoration of the year. Prayers offered up for our brother Ronny are requested. Thank you. We also had 13 visitors, with a repeat family of four that may be placing their workmanship with us soon. Two transition visits were made as we continue developing relationships. We will keep working, and God will give the increase. Never, never give in!”

Stewarts Creek church of Christ, Smyrna, Tennessee: Jon McCord (member) reports, “We had our second training class on the evangelism table last night. We are preparing to train the congregation on compassion cards. Since we already do encouragement cards, we are planning how to begin this evangelistic card writing work as well.”

New Union church of Christ, Manchester, Tennessee: Paul Fultz (elder) reports, “We had 12 visitors on Sunday, and our members submitted four names to add to our prospect list. We wrote 33 compassion cards. During the week we made four visits. We meet every Monday to discuss our evangelism efforts.”

Collierville church of Christ, Tennessee: Justin Evergarden (evangelist) reports, “We are excited to share some encouraging progress from the past week at the Collierville church of Christ. We were blessed with several new visitors during our Mother’s Day worship service, and multiple ongoing Bible studies are showing good signs of interest and spiritual openness. One promising contact, Joseph, has expressed a desire to begin worshiping with us in the near future. Our Compassion Card Ministry is now underway. This week, we are sending cards to two prospects currently facing significant life events. Once the card cycles are completed, we plan to follow up with personal visits to check in and encourage them face-to-face. The Evangelism Room is also nearing completion. We encountered a minor delay due to the metal studs in the walls, which required extra planning to hang our materials properly, but we are wrapping up the final touches this week. Additionally, the congregation received visitor training this past Sunday, equipping our members to make guests feel welcome and valued. We are also in the process of ordering visitor gift bag contents, which will include a small but high-quality rechargeable battery bank for each visitor—something practical and thoughtful to leave a lasting impression. Though the setup process takes time, we remain focused, hopeful, and motivated. We are already beginning to see visible fruits from the evangelism training we have received, and we are excited about what is to come. We are thankful for the guidance and encouragement as we continue building momentum.”

Blackman church of Christ, Murfreesboro, Tennessee (remote): Brian McCord (member) reports, “We had three visitors this week. They have been consistent Sunday morning visitors for the past three weeks, but they have not accepted our lunch offers so far. We have sent out around 20 cards last week and this week. Visits have been attempted, but no studies have been set up yet. We should be getting new movers’ addresses in the next week; we will deliver baskets as soon as we have the addresses.”

Rome church of Christ, Lebanon, Tennessee (remote): David Oxley (elder) reports, “We will meet this week for our advanced class. We are sending cards this week to three prospects. We will meet Monday night for our New Converts class, and we are planning visits to ten prospects next week.”

Hillcrest church of Christ, Springfield, Tennessee: Tim Taylor (evangelist) reports, “We currently have 13 prospects, as well as seven new movers this month; we will follow up with them. We are averaging 20-30 compassion cards sent each week. Last week’s total was 24. I am aware of one study in progress. Our New Converts class, led by one of our deacons, has been well-received. One of our latest converts, Tommy, is seriously ill. We ask for prayers on his behalf.”

Birdwell Chapel church of Christ, Cottontown, Tennessee: Kerry England (elder) reports, “We completed delivery of our first new movers buckets. The compassion card room is set up and organized. On Sunday night, we had training on sending the cards and divided our teams. We will begin the compassion card ministry in earnest this coming Sunday evening before services. We had many visitors on Sunday, with it being Mother’s Day. Most were from out of town or attended other congregations. We have one commitment for a Bible study that hopefully can be scheduled next week. There are two other prospects that we will continue to try to develop.”

Rivergate church of Christ, Madison, Tennessee: Doug Tooley (preacher) reports, “We had one visitor on Wednesday and eight visitors on Sunday. Two were taken to lunch. One was the visitor from Wednesday. He was back on Sunday night and requested prayers. We made two visits last week.”

White Oak church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee (remote): John McGiffin (preacher) reports, “Following the Gospel Meeting, we are organizing a booth at the city’s 70th birthday celebration. The men’s meeting discussed our first Gospel Meeting since 2019. We had a Facebook advertisement reaching over 14,000. We did a door hanger campaign. Although we had several visitors, they were friends of members or from sister congregations. Attendance was good at the event. Some felt it was not a success because we did not have anyone from the community visit us. However, the goal of introducing ourselves to members in the community was undoubtedly successful. Sometimes, planting the seed takes time for it to root. On a more positive note, we had visitors return for a third time. I had a great conversation and am planning to meet them for lunch very soon. We are turning our focus to the Bible correspondence students and new movers as we prepare for our booth.”

West Fayetteville church of Christ, Tennessee: Steve Jefferson (elder) reports, “We had visitors due to Mother’s Day. One visitor was from Quebec City, Canada. A member came forward and asked for prayers to help her cope with the recent loss of her husband. Everyone surrounded her with love and comfort. We continued with one Bible study, and it is going well. One family that we are studying with had a loss in their family, so we reached out to them with love and support. Yesterday, Compassion Card Team 3 sent about 18 cards out to one new contact. We appreciate all prayers for our efforts.”

Mountain Creek church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee: Michael Tomshack (elder) reports, “On Mother’s Day, we had several family-related visitors at worship, including a new resident. Our pew greeters welcomed him, as did many in the congregation. We will follow up with him this week.”

Granbury Street church of Christ, Cleburne, Texas: Ryan Cowan (deacon) reports, “Congregational card writing takes place each month. We are delivering new movers’ baskets on average every two months. We are also attempting to visit our compassion card recipients regularly.”

Roanoke church of Christ, Texas: Caleb Rutherford (preacher) reports, “We added three more prospects to our list, and we wrote and sent cards. Please be prayerful over two of our many visitors. They are friends of a non-member visitor who has been attending. The nonmember is a member of the church but has yet to place membership with us. But he invited two friends to come, and we hope to follow up with them and schedule a study soon. We plan to meet with our transition visit team next Sunday to touch base with everyone and ensure that visits are being made. We have more visits to assign as well. We hope and pray that studies are set up soon and more souls will be converted to Christ.”

Colleyville church of Christ, Texas: John Garza (regional trainer) reports, “Due to our Gospel Meeting, we have very hot contacts and studies taking place. In fact, if the one goes well tonight, she will be baptized into Christ. Additionally, we have five more souls to add to our compassion card list, because they visited on Mother’s Day! Finally, we have multiple other studies taking place, and we have many other prospects that we hope will come to fruition. Many good works are taking place.”

Howe church of Christ, Texas: Aaron Alsbrook (preacher) reports, “We continue to make our contact cards into prospects. We sent our first group of cards last week and are putting together other teams in the congregation to make contacts. Although the initial push with the lessons from the School of Evangelism is over, members are still trying to make contacts and turn them into prospects, and then into Bible studies. We still have a few distant (phone) studies happening, and if the Lord wills, we will have studies with our upcoming prospects.”

Fruitvale church of Christ, Texas: Carl McCann (elder) reports, “Our Bible studies continue; we currently have four ongoing Bible studies using various tools. We have a family using Back to the Bible as a new converts study. We continue to offer our nursing home study and will be bringing that to an end for the summer. Our last set of compassion cards was sent out for our community giveaway. We have had a steady stream of visitors the past few Sundays, and our members are engaging them, handing out visitor bags, and getting their contact information. A Christian named Josh Holloway placed membership with us. He has been coming for a few months with other family members who were drawn to us because of compassion.”

Beltway church of Christ, Virginia: LeAndre Johnson (preacher) reports, “We finished preaching Part 2 of the John 4 sermon. We are asking the congregation to build their contact list and pray. We will continue the training next week and are excited about having a congregational plan to reach the lost.”

Abingdon church of Christ, Virginia: Freddie Klein (evangelist) reports, “Nathan continued his sermon series on Back to the Bible. I reminded the congregation about the need for contact cards and the reason we could use to initiate card writing for that individual. Card Group 2 met on Sunday afternoon with good attendance. We continued to make final touches on the visitor bags and adding contact cards. Our invitation cards are printed and will be handed out soon. Our new mover date is scheduled for Saturday, and we are excited to meet many new neighbors. There have been visitors from our community two weeks in a row, and they have been treated to lunches.”

Williamsburg church of Christ, Virginia: Jim Bishop (elder) reports, “This week God added two souls to the church. These baptisms represent the fifth and sixth baptisms for 2025. One was the mother of a recent convert, and the other was the daughter of a couple who recently moved to the Williamsburg area and placed membership with the congregation. These women have two things in common. They both have immediate family who are members of the church, and both attended the recent Ladies Day event. Spreading God’s Word can be done in many ways. Preaching the Word in spirit and truth opens the hearts of many. Prayer, persistence, and faith are key factors in making opportunities for contacts. Praise God for answering prayers.”

Marlon Retana (Spanish Regional Trainer): “I am a preacher in a congregation in Nuevo León, Mexico. I am writing to you because I want to share God’s message. My favorite place to do so is at the table of a heart willing to know God. I am telling you this because your ministry is very valuable to the church. Someone obeyed the Lord through the Back to the Bible plan. Let’s keep it going!”
