Featured Work: White Oak church of Christ, TNEditor’s Note: The White Oak church of Christ is working hard to reach the lost. John has used a variety of contact creators and prospecting tools from HTHSOE. The congregation has been discouraged at times while waiting patiently for God to give the increase. This past week, the harvest arrived. John’s message is inspiring and instructional. “Never, Never, Never Give Up” It seems that when you think you should retreat into a cave, feeling that your efforts are in vain, God reminds you of His providence. It was over ten months ago that we hosted our first trunk or treat event in many years. We took pictures of the children for a costume contest. After developing the pictures, my wife and I personally knocked on doors to distribute the photos. This gave us a chance to talk to the parents a little more. We constantly follow up on our contacts, but so far we have had little success. We send encouraging emails, texts, cards, phone calls, or messages. We return to knock on doors to invite contacts to other events. Unless we are told to stop bothering someone, we continue to do this for several weeks. If we do not receive any response in four weeks, we put them on a back burner. I had not given it much thought, but when we had a Family and Friend Day coming up, I asked my wife to help recontact people that we have not contacted for a while. She and I sent some cards, some texts, and some emails. Overall, we contacted over 60 people. We received an email this past week. It simply stated that the sender wanted to be baptized and asked if we had any requirements. I looked up this person’s name and saw that they were contacts from the trunk or treat almost a year ago. We quickly responded to the email to arrange a meeting. Silence for two days led us to believe that once again we were going to be disappointed. Then all of a sudden, they asked to meet at the building the next day at 9:30 a.m. They had said recent events had led them to the Internet and found debates on the necessity of baptism. The first question was about the thief on the cross. I tried to defer, but eventually I threw the question back to them. I asked what they thought. They said they thought it probably was not relevant since it was offered by Christ while He was alive. They correctly deduced that it was still under the Old Law. They wanted to be baptized because they were baptized as little children and have come to the conclusion that little children do not understand enough to be baptized. They wanted to know about any prerequisites. They asked if they needed to wait for a scheduled time like the Baptists. They wanted to know if we needed to vote on their membership in our church. Instead of answering the questions, I simply stated that if they were willing to take some time and look at what the Bible says, we could determine if there are any requirements to be met. They agreed. We used Does it Matter? by Bobby Bates. Three and a half hours later, we baptized DJ and Nina Shrum into Christ for the remission of sins. “Never give in (up), never, never, never, never.” Winston Churchill. Congregational ReportsGlencoe church of Christ, Alabama: Keith Ritchie (preacher) reports, “We continue to be blessed with excellent attendance, plenty of visitors, and a good number of contacts and prospects. Yesterday we had one restoration and one baptism. This coming Sunday is our New Movers’ Sunday, and we will also be sending out transition teams. Another Bible study has been set up, and we have two new prospects. God has blessed us in our efforts, and we pray that opportunities continue to be placed before us. To God be the glory!” Central church of Christ, Saraland, Alabama: David Dixon (preacher) reports, “We participated in National Door-knocking Day on Saturday, getting six new prospects in the process. The method of knocking doors laid out in the lesson Rob recorded at PTP last year has changed the game. The process is so much more effective. On Sunday, Cheryl Pace was baptized into Christ. This is a special conversion to me. We have been working with Cheryl for well over a year, and our efforts have finally paid off. We sent her cards, visited, helped with transportation, and did everything we could. I gave her Muscle and a Shovel to read and some videos to watch. It took time and patience, but her heart was finally softened to the point of obedience. Her baptism is our eleventh of this calendar year, and 24th since we enrolled in the School of Evangelism! To God be the glory!” Cedar Grove church of Christ, Andalusia, Alabama: Josh Holloway (preacher) reports, “This week was a busy one but very productive. We rejoice for another soul! One of our young people has been studying through the Back to the Bible lessons, the Jule Miller Visualized Bible Study, and the book Muscle and a Shovel to get better at evangelism. This week, he decided that he needed to obey the Gospel. He was baptized into Christ this past Thursday. God has blessed us with ten baptisms so far. Our salvation goal for the year was 15. We have reached that in eight months. We have had five restorations and ten baptisms for a total of 15! We stayed focused on evangelism. We were able to teach five Bible studies and make 10 visits. We sent 123 cards this week (over 300 for the month), and we are approaching 2,000 cards sent out since we began the program. We were able to get contacts and studies from various sources. We contacted House to House and realized that several in our area had been requesting more information about the church. We reached out and put them on our prospect lists. We installed more deacons on Sunday, so we had several visitors. We wrote down information so we can prospect them further. We also had a congregational door-knocking this past Saturday. It was extremely successful and made several good contacts. To our surprised, we went to multiple houses of folks who used to attend church services with us (in the 90’s and early 2000’s). It was a great congregational event. We ask for prayers for Mrs. Terry, Nena, Michael, Matt, Lontae, Casheria, and Shelia as they continue to study regularly. Mrs. Terry, Lontae, Casheria, and Mrs. Nena were all at services on Sunday also.” Hatton church of Christ, Town Creek, Alabama: Chris Miller (preacher) reports, “We have several erring members who have been back, especially on Sunday, and it is the result of the continued evangelism effort, benevolence, and card ministry. We are helping a number of families and having good results, along with our studies.” Creekwood church of Christ, Mobile, Alabama: Tucker Presley (preacher) reports, “We have one Bible study going on right now. We have had a lot of visitors recently as well. We give visitor bags with Creekwood materials to our visitors, and we add them to our prospect list. We continue to write cards each week. The next step is to begin the New Mover’s work. A coordinator is already in place. Things are rolling along!” Fayette church of Christ, Alabama: Josh Taylor (deacon) reports, “I have been away in Iowa for the past week, and our scheduled Mission Sunday was planned for last Sunday. I was very thankful to hear that our mission Sunday meeting was conducted and went well even without me. We have identified two individuals from our most recent card writing list, and we plan to prepare gift baskets for them. We will work on the baskets this month and then visit these individuals to engage them in a Bible study. We appreciate prayers for fruitful efforts. To God be the Glory!” Petersville church of Christ, Florence, Alabama: Adam Richardson (preacher) reports, “We sent 26 cards, and we hosted a new members’ and visitors’ lunch that had about 45 in attendance. Two young families placed membership with us after moving into the area. Our elders encourage members at the start of each Sunday morning service to pray for those on their contact lists. The youth passed out packs of invitation cards at the end of service yesterday morning. I think this helps to reinforce that evangelism matters!” Hartselle church of Christ, Alabama: Justin Smith (preacher) reports, “This week we began handing out visitor welcome bags. We are a growing church with many visitors (about 30 this past week), and I know this will be a big ministry for us. Through the implementation process of the School of Evangelism, so much work has been done behind the scenes. Now that more of these efforts are becoming forward-facing, the congregation has a renewed interest and energy. We plan to use this energy to get more involved in the work of prospecting.” North Tuscaloosa church of Christ, Alabama: Clark Sims (elder) reports, “I am so encouraged by the reality of four baptisms. It started with a study in the past with a young man who was in a relationship with one of our precious young ladies. That young man was baptized. In time, they were married. Fantastic couple. This young man took his baptism to heart. He baptized his mother and one of his brothers. They are very faithful. Then this past Sunday, another brother, his sister-in-law, niece, and nephew were all baptized. Yes, six members of his family were baptized. I kidded with him on Sunday evening as he sat in the row in front of all his family! Family ‘row’ is looking full!” Rison church of Christ, Arkansas: Keden Shrum (preacher) reports, “We had several visitors at worship on Sunday morning. It was one of our largest gatherings in several years. Many of them do not live here, but two families were repeat visitors, so it was a blessing to see them with us again! This past week, I was asked to perform a graveside service for a church member who grew up in this area but had been living in Oregon. This allowed us to get contact information from the one family member who still lives here. We started sending cards to her this week.” Mountain Home church of Christ, Arkansas: Joshua Adams (preacher) reports, “This past week we began sending out our visitor team with the new mover’s baskets. We made several good contacts. While not everyone was available to answer the door, those we spoke with were very thankful and encouraged by the visit. We look forward to following up with compassion cards, additional visits, and, Lord willing, Bible studies. On the note of compassion cards, we had 18 writers stayed to write 45 cards—an encouraging show of love and commitment. We continue to pray for and seek out more new contacts, and the New Movers outreach will be a great blessing in that effort. In addition, recent political events have led to an increase in visitors, giving us new opportunities to connect with people and share the hope of the Gospel.” Margaret Street church of Christ, Milton, Florida: Troy Spradlin (preacher) reports, “For the Door Knocking Day this past Saturday, we decided to knock on the doors of all the transition visits we have. With gifts in hand, about twenty of our members went out to contact 30 prospects, all of whom have received compassion cards, some of whom have visited, and others with whom we have studied. We were well received by everyone to whom we spoke, and one team was even invited in to eat breakfast! It was a great day, and we expect much fruit to come from the visits. Also, the young man I reported about last week, who had studied his way out of the Baptist denomination and was baptized, came to worship with us this past Sunday! His name is Zach Cox, and he received a lot of love and encouragement from the congregation. Our current 2025 Year-to-Date Accountability Board numbers are: 267 Total Contacts received; 70 Visitors; 202 Neighbors (Prospects whom we have loved and/or have had studies); 70 Bible Studies (total completed); 1,985 Compassion Cards sent; two Restorations; and 17 Baptisms. I am at WVBS this week, recording some new projects. One project is a ‘Next Steps for New Converts’ lesson.” Niceville church of Christ, Florida: Joe Palmer (preacher) reports, “The process of soul-winning requires four phrases: Preparing the soul (relationship building), Sowing the seed (teaching), Harvesting (Response), and Preserving the crop (discipleship). Imagine a farmer who harvested a crop and then walked away and left it to rot or spoil or never used it for any purpose. That is not what they do. The crop has to be used for a good purpose. The new Christian needs to grow, find their purpose, and produce their own fruit. Every week, I regularly have a Monday night Bible study. Several new Christians attend. We recently finished reading together the book of Acts. I have three ongoing studies with six other new Christians, including a Sunday morning Spanish New Convert’s class. We also have another Monday night small group and another New Convert’s class taught in English by one of our men. This past week, we had a second visit with a lady from the community. I have two ladies who have set up a study with her. We sent 24 cards. We are working with several other prospects. This week, we will have a Sunday night meeting for our Evangelism ministry, and we are praying that it has a great turnout.” Cartersville church of Christ, Georgia: Charles Harris (regional trainer) reports, “On Saturday, we knocked 170 doors and gathered 13 contacts. We took the approach of offering prayers. We are having a Gospel Meeting in a couple of weeks. Instead of using mass promotion that usually goes unnoticed, we are encouraging each member to invite individuals with whom they already have personal relationships.” Woodstock church of Christ, Georgia: Matt Amos (preacher) reports, “WCOC and the Sunabella Assistant Living Facility had 11 non-Christians at the devotional on Sunday. The HTH Door Knocking Group conducted the National Door Knocking Campaign this past Saturday. They knocked on 92 doors and made 21 contacts. We have one in the recall list. The Compassion Card Group created and sent six cards. WCOC had seven non-Christian visitors this past Sunday morning worship. We also had one Bible study.” Lafayette church of Christ, Georgia: Jesse Teague (deacon) reports, “Saturday was the annual Brotherhood-wide Door Knocking Event, so we pushed our normal Second-Saturday New Movers door knocking to the third Saturday. What a blessing to be a part of such a great event! I hope we eclipsed the 1000 congregation participation goal! Last night, Group 2 met to sign compassion cards. About 12 saints gathered to send cards to two souls whom we had met during last month’s door-knocking. There are a couple of young men who are so close to obeying the Gospel. They know the truth, but they have hesitated to make the right decision. Our preacher has presented great evangelistic messages, and our members are always encouraging. God will give the increase when their hearts are ready. It is a decision that cannot be forced but always encouraged.” Edgewood church of Christ, Columbus, Georgia: Mitchell Deering (deacon) reports, “We now have nine active Bible studies, showing continued growth week by week. With 66 additional cards sent this week, our September total has reached 189. We had one new visitor this week, bringing the monthly total to seven. We also rejoice in one baptism this week, which was a great encouragement to the entire congregation and evidence of the Lord’s blessing on this work. The follow-up team continues to provide important support by reaching out to both visitors and compassion card contacts.” Honolulu church of Christ, Hawaii: Tagiilima Esene (preacher) reports, “We are focusing on encouraging our leaders (shepherds and deacons). We desire to be more efficient as we move forward in service to God. We were blessed with many prospects this Sunday. There currently have two Bible studies ongoing. Both studies are nearing the end and both hearts are tender. We just started another New Convert’s class with seven new converts learning and growing in Christ. We will be supporting a short term mission effort for the churches in Samoa and American Samoa.” Collinsville-Troy church of Christ, Illinois: Jason Wright (elder) reports, “We rejoice with the angels in Heaven as one of our own was baptized into Christ today. She has been studying with her parents, who are members. We mailed 80 compassion cards this week and conducted three Bible studies. We delivered nine new mover baskets and made five follow-up visits. We are preparing for our food giveaway that is coming up. We continue our training on Sundays and continue to seek the lost.” Columbia City church of Christ, Indiana: Drew Reece (preacher) reports, “We are continuing to learn and develop as we go through the curriculum. We sent out 45 cards yesterday and added another contact to the prospect list. We appreciate prayers as we make transition visits this week!” Judah church of Christ, Indiana: Joe Moon (preacher) reports, “We had two repeat visitors this Sunday, and two visitors on Wednesday. The Wednesday visitors were members of the church from out of town. We had no cards, Bible studies, or visits this week. We have the contact information of the visitors and plan to have a meal with them soon. It has been exciting to have so many new faces.” Highland Village church of Christ, Bloomington, Indiana: Mark Stauffer (elder) reports, “We have one active prospect, whom we will visit this week. Thirty-eight cards have been mailed in September. The number of contacts submitted by the congregation has declined significantly. We are focusing our weekly congregational training on the importance of reaching the lost and refreshing the training on how to make new contacts. Overall, support for evangelism seems to be strong, but many are hesitant to ‘go.’ We have a SOE refresh in six weeks. The leaders of the congregation have been promoting it and are encouraging participation by the members of the congregation. Our goal for baptisms this year is three. We have baptized two so far. We have also restored two that had drifted away.” Beloit church of Christ, Kansas (remote): Dustin Dougherty (regional trainer) reports, “We had four visitors who were in town due to a family funeral. I will be traveling to Agra this coming weekend to preach and teach for the congregation there. We have our fall Gospel meeting coming up in two weeks with guest speaker Mike Hixson. We are greatly looking forward to this meeting. I have had flyers printed as well as some smaller half-sized flyers; these have worked great for individual invitations, and several have led to discussions in the last week. I issued the challenge to our members yesterday, for each of them to pick up a small flyer and invite someone in their lives to the meeting. I pray we have not just a good turnout of area Christians, but also the lost in our community.” Columbus church of Christ, Kansas: Matt Fowler (member) reports, “This week, my mother and father-in-law delivered two new mover baskets and recorded their contact information and invited them to services. It was a very positive interaction. On Sunday, we had three repeat visitors that have come as a result of receiving House to House Heart to Heart. One visitor, Mary, picked up a copy of Back to the Bible from the evangelism table and asked that my mother-in-law go through it with her. They are going to schedule a time. One of our teachers at school, with whom I work, asked for a recommendation for a Bible study as a gift for her son’s anniversary with his wife. I told her I had just the thing. I bundled Back to the Bible with survey cards, the DVD for the study, and a copy of Muscle and a Shovel. I included an invitation card that has my personal phone number on it and instructions to go through the study and contact me with any questions. We pray this effort bears fruit. We currently have four Bible studies going on, but all have had scheduling issues this week. We have sent 81 compassion cards this month. We are praying for our efforts as well as for efforts everywhere. To God be the glory.” Flatwoods church of Christ, Kentucky: Nathan Adkins (elder) reports, “Many of the coordinator positions have been filled, and they have been asked to go to the website and study the modules. Our greeters are doing a good job. It definitely takes time to learn these seemingly simple tasks, such as giving a visitor a gift and getting contact information. Last week, we had our fall Gospel Meeting. We had one visitor from the community. We are still in the process of following up with the contacts we made last week when we went door-knocking. Brother Todd had a Bible study scheduled with one of those contacts today, and sisters Janet and Shelly revisited one of the families on Saturday. We are praying that the cards we are sending will have the desired effect.” Central church of Christ, Paducah, Kentucky: Adam Faughn (preacher) reports, “On Sunday morning, Junior Langston talked with me for a few moments, saying he had been thinking about baptism. We decided it was best for him to pray and study a little more, which he did during the afternoon. Before Sunday evening services, he studied with Noah (our Youth and Family Minister) and made the decision to put Christ on in baptism. Junior is a quiet and sweet young man, and we are so grateful for his decision. To God be the glory!” Gonzales church of Christ, Louisiana: Patrick Adkins (deacon) reports, “We participated in the Door- Knocking Day with the Texas School of Preaching, which started its lectureship in Gonzales today! We signed 40 cards. We appreciate continued prayer for our efforts as we also pray for efforts everywhere. I forgot to include the most important thing: we had a restoration directly related to cards sent to wayward members.” Beltway church of Christ, Camp Springs, Maryland: LeAndre Johnson (preacher) reports, “We are continuing to do our T3 classes on Wednesday night, training our lead teachers. We are conducting two BTTB classes currently. One class is in Book 1; the other class is in Book 3. We also are considering two more classes to be determined.” Aberdeen church of Christ, Maryland: Will Brown (preacher) reports, “We had a very successful door-knocking campaign, reaching 200 homes. We currently have five ongoing Bible studies, and this past Sunday we welcomed seven visitors. As we prepare for our annual Trunk or Treat, which consistently brings new opportunities for Bible studies, we are focusing on diligent follow-up with our visitors. We appreciate all prayers.” La Plata church of Christ, Maryland (remote): Eric Sykes (regional trainer) reports, “This past week we sent out 11 compassion cards. Our new converts have finished the ‘Your First 40 Days in the Wilderness’ video training series. We are sharing the WVBS ‘Proof for God’ series with them to equip them with the tools they will need to answer questions and defend the Christian faith that they have recently accepted. We appreciate prayers as we strive to grow God’s family here in La Plata and evangelize our community.” Aberdeen church of Christ, Mississippi: Jonathan Hagar (preacher) reports, “We had one baptism this past Sunday! That puts us at five baptisms for the year. On Sunday, I preached a sermon on ‘A Christian’s Response to the Hatred of the World.’ That afternoon, I got a phone call from a neighboring preacher. He said a woman came to him who was watching my sermon, and something I said triggered her conviction. After the sermon, she decided she needed to be baptized for the remission of her sins, so she went to the nearest building of the church of Christ and was baptized by the preacher. The preacher there knew me, so he called and told me the story. Online evangelism is real, and it works! I have four Bible studies this week. Also, a lady from the church gave me the phone number of a couple in town who said they would be willing to do a study with the church. We will schedule a Bible study with that couple. The New Convert’s class is on Chapter 3 of ‘Growing in Christ,’ with 10 students who all love the class. We had five return visitors this past week, and some will be studying with me this week! We had one new visitor this Sunday night, a teen boy. He came to support his buddy who was preaching Sunday night for the Youth-led Worship.” Iuka church of Christ, Mississippi: Sam Glover (preacher) reports, “I am fresh out of our monthly evangelism meeting. We have eight new movers from the website, all of whom already have volunteers assigned to them to greet them and give them a basket. Our door-knocking yesterday yielded nine contacts, all of whom will be getting sets of cards throughout the coming weeks. We are fortunate to have good people here who want to work even though we have a lot of ‘competition.’ We had a family visit with us today that had just come to the area, and they are looking for a church. Fortunately, my sermon did not run them off, and they have confirmed that they are interested in coming back. We will follow up to let them know we appreciate them and would love to see them again.” Concord church Of Christ, New Hampshire (remote): Shane Belanger (member) reports, “Last week we had a lot of fun and learning as we dug into Lesson 2 of Back to the Bible. We broke up into groups and designated one as the student and one as the teacher. This effort helped us to be prepared for potential questions from students and anything that might arise as we study with prospects. After we had finished, we got back together and discussed what had taken place during our studies. We also took the time last Wednesday night after Bible study to write cards to individuals who had been visiting with us. We also had three new visitors last Sunday, and we look forward to reaching out to them soon. God Bless!” East Flushing church of Christ, New York (remote): Clarence Jenkins (preacher) reports, “By the grace of God, we had a beautiful, productive day participating in the Brotherhood Wide Door Knocking Day. We had two groups of five, knocked on 104 doors, had prayer with some of our neighbors, had enjoyable conversations, addressed the House to House Door-Knocking issue, left door hangers, and received seven contacts. Crystal knocked on 35 doors, left door hangers until she ran out, and received a contact. By God’s grace, we knocked on 139 doors, and eight contacts were received. To God be the glory! On Sunday, we had nine visitors. Our metrics thus far for and through the month of September are six baptisms, 40 visitors, 19 prospects, 11 Bible studies, and two in a new convert study. We appreciate all prayers.” Welcome Glendale Street church of Christ, Newton, North Carolina (remote): We welcome the Glendale Street church of Christ in Newton, North Carolina. They recently enrolled using the Remote Enrollment option and started their training this week with a Sunday Kickstart brought by Keno Shrum. The congregation is motivated and ready for training. New Concord church of Christ, Ohio: Terry Townsend (preacher) reports, “We had two first-time visitors at services on Sunday (one came with her friend, and they will begin a study next week, so we hope to have more to report next week. Each visitor received a welcome gift and will be put on our compassion card list. We started three new Bible studies! All three have made it through the first lesson of BTTB. We had one baptism last week (picture included), and one prodigal came home! We also had a family of three place membership! We delivered 17 New Mover Baskets. The teams received their new list on Sunday and will soon begin new deliveries. Welcome to God’s family, Phedra Moore!” Owasso church of Christ, Oklahoma: David Combs (elder) reports, “We have a new brother! Caleb Ackley was baptized in the Lord by his dad this past Saturday. They are extremely happy brothers! Following morning services, Tim Bowman gave us a little pep talk about our bookmark cards and then led us in prayer concerning the names on our bookmark cards. Sunday evening after services, Group 3 met to write compassion cards. Fourteen people wrote 120 cards this week.” Coweta church of Christ, Oklahoma: Keno Shrum (regional trainer) reports, “Coweta members knocked doors Saturday with a 24 percent success rate in obtaining contacts. On Sunday, compassion cards were filled out; they will be mailed on Monday. One of the contacts said she is looking for a church home for her and her daughter. Transition visits will be forthcoming. She will also be placed on our ‘The Few’ list as she is a very ‘hot’ contact. In two weeks, we begin our fall Gospel Meeting with an emphasis on bringing in the lost and generating more contacts. Jamie and I just returned home from working with eight congregations over the past three-plus weeks in Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina. We held lessons for Continued Education Training and Kickstarts for Remote Enrollment congregations. The kingdom is growing, and congregations are on fire for the Lord! Coweta.” York church of Christ, Pennsylvania: Mark Rashke (deacon) reports, “Extended family members of the church visited from out of town. We were prepared with cookies to greet any visitors who might have come in response to the ‘Back to Church Sunday’ article in the House to House, Heart to Heartpublication. We sent cards this week to Aden, who was baptized last week. Fred preached an excellent sermon from Luke 15 about the importance of seeking the one who is lost, rather than focusing on the 99 who are saved.” Madison County church of Christ, Jackson, Tennessee: Steven Sprouse (preacher) reports, “We had two baptisms recently—a son and his mother, Logan and Trish. Logan’s wife had been baptized by another congregation a few years ago, but she started attending Madison County after receiving the new mover’s basket. She said we should not put a lot of pressure on her husband and mother-in-law because they had a lot of resistance when it came to the church. That was two years ago. The church has been welcoming and encouraging them in person and through cards. We have spent a lot of time in each other’s homes and have become good friends. They have been attending off and on, but more regularly lately. He began reading his Bible and even used his vacation time to get a lot read. When we started studying, it was smooth and promising.” Freewill church of Christ, Gainesboro, Tennessee: Andrew Scott (preacher) reports, “We rejoice with Jaycee Sweeney as she was baptized into Christ this afternoon. She has been studying with her boyfriend Chase Carter, and he had the privilege of baptizing her. God continues to give us the increase! We have a record number of Bible studies planned for the coming weeks! Yesterday, after services, I had lunch with one of our prospects and have scheduled Bible studies in the next few weeks. We have also planned a Bible study for this coming Wednesday for the girlfriend of one of our members who may be close to marriage. We will begin Back to the Bible. Also, a family we helped with benevolence came to the services last night. We will continue to flood them with cards! We have a great example of how to tie benevolence directly to evangelism! We are staying as busy as ever and giving God the glory and thanksgiving for the increase!” Cookeville church of Christ, Tennessee: Joshua Kennedy (preacher) reports, “We have written five new compassion cards. We have more on the way. We also have a Bible study that is going on currently with two individuals that we hope to see turn into possible baptisms.” McKenzie church of Christ, Tennessee: Randall McAdams (elder) reports, “September has ended with five contacts; four of them being non-members. We pray that October will give us more as we are getting back to our regular schedule of Bible classes, which is where we get the majority of our contacts. We do rejoice in the baptism of a young man in his 30’s; Chance has studied with him, and the congregation has nurtured him. He was brought in by a friend who is also a recent member. In addition to this baptism, our church family has rejoiced in the addition of two new young families, increasing our membership. We have been blessed to have a dedicated group of leaders who have stayed the course with this mission now for over two years. One husband/wife did step down, but we already had alternate leaders in that group who quickly took over. To date, we have reached out to 248 contacts since the beginning of this mission. May our Lord bless this work and give us perseverance to stay the course.” Ocoee Street church of Christ, Copperhill, Tennessee: R.E. Vann (elder) reports, “Excitement is noticeable at Ocoee Street! We had 16 members participate in Saturday’s Door Knocking campaign. Seventeen doors were knocked on, and nine visits were made. Four of these prospects, including their five children, came to worship with us yesterday. Three of these families went to lunch with three of our members. We are seeing more member involvement in congregational evangelism. We are praying that three of these prospects will begin a Bible study this weekend. Our Lord blessed us again when a repeat visitor expressed his desire to place his workmanship with us. Ashley is two years into his new birth and has a hunger to grow in his Christian walk, and he was enthusiastic that we offered him a New Convert’s class.” Blackman church of Christ, Murfreesboro, Tennessee (remote): Brian McCord reports, “We are starting the third week of focused compassion cards. Visits happen after Week 3. New mover baskets were delivered yesterday and yielded one prospect. Our fish fry this weekend yielded another prospect, and they will begin receiving cards this week. Three placed memberships with us yesterday, and we will soon assign work for them.” West Sparta church of Christ, Tennessee: Justin Turney (deacon) reports, “Excitement continues throughout our congregation on evangelism. Yesterday, two members in our congregation brought a total of seven new families to visit! It was very exciting to see, and we were able to take four of those families out to lunch. We started the Bible study last week with the couple who visited, and it proved to be amazing. It was the first time they had been in a church building since they were children. They were eager to learn, and we are excited to continue studying with them this week!” West Fayetteville church of Christ, Tennessee: Steve Jefferson (elder) reports, “We are thankful for Landon and Bailey Bryan, who coordinate our new mover baskets. They have assembled 12 baskets, and we have 12 new movers on the list. The members are delivering baskets to those in their area. Last week, Team 3 sent out 45 cards to three contacts. This Sunday, Team 1 sent out 12 cards to one contact.” Grundy Street church of Christ, Tullahoma, Tennessee: John Summers (preacher) reports, “We bounced back well from the previous week with the efforts of Group 1—and even then, with lower participation, we sent 75 cards. This past week, Group 2 sent 211 cards, and everyone on the list received at least two or three cards each day. The number generated yesterday by our Card Group 3 was almost as high as last week’s. We have 13 prospects! The elders and I will be meeting this Wednesday to formulate our next steps as we continue to strategize on our implementation of the SOE curriculum. (I did not get pictures yesterday as planned, as I had a counseling session yesterday afternoon. I will try to have someone to take pictures and share this next week, as I will be at a different congregation next Sunday).” Arlington church of Christ, Tennessee: Brandon Tibbits (preacher) reports, “We are making another set of visits this week. We installed two deacons Sunday to help with the work, and we will start working on the new mover list soon as well. One of the deacons has agreed to head up that work. We are adding to the number of contacts. Also, two of our prospects came to worship yesterday.” Chapel Hill church of Christ, Tennessee: Matt Jones (deacon) reports, “Our Community Table ministry kicked off, and we are excited to get that in full swing again. We pray that we can continue to reach our community through this and other areas, like our new movers program, which has recently delivered baskets. Our card-writing teams are still doing a great job each week by writing to our various prospects. Our visiting team is doing a great job at following up with our prospects. Things continue to be going well.” Mountain Creek church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee: Michael Tomshack (elder) reports, “We continue to emphasize the importance of bookmarks in our Sunday assembly and classes for individuals of all ages. We have encountered a period of stagnation in terms of new contacts, which we, as elders, are currently reviewing. It is important to recognize that there is no linear path to long-term success, and a review process is essential in addressing this challenge. We will gather input from the congregation regarding the slowdown and review the quarter at our elders’ quarterly planning session next month.” McEwen church of Christ, Tennessee: John Jones (preacher) reports, “We have a Bible study set for later today with six students at the local lineman college. One of our members, who has taught two of her Baptist siblings who have since been baptized, has begun teaching another sibling and her husband. Please pray for good results with this study!” Collierville church of Christ, Tennessee: Justin Evergarden (evangelist) reports, “This week, we have officially launched our New Mover’s basket program and are working on deliveries. Additionally, this week, one of our new visitors, Drake, and I will be having a Bible study each week. Moving forward, the New Convert’s class is also now starting to take shape, led by brother Jacob Kennedy. And we are all feeling very optimistic about the program. We have also recently had two people place membership with our congregation, so our numbers are increasing.” Soddy church of Christ, Tennessee: Joe Mallory (preacher) reports, “Yesterday, we were blessed at Soddy with a tremendous study with Dave Miller! Many visitors were present and had an opportunity to hear the Gospel preached with power and simplicity. We were able to see the fruit of the congregational invitation, and as a result, we gained two more contacts to whom we will be reaching out with compassion. Last week, we were able to begin a Bible study with our dear friend, Jose Vela. Lord willing, we will continue our study this week. Yesterday, Care Team 3 wrote about 40 cards, which will be mailed this week. We continue to pray for these efforts and the spread of the Gospel worldwide!” Philadelphia church of Christ, Lebanon, Tennessee (remote): Alex DeGraves (associate preacher) reports, “We have a meeting tonight, and we have three prospects to visit. Additionally, we wrote cards to two more individuals yesterday. Finally, we went door-knocking on Saturday to ask about HTH/HTH and to promote an upcoming Gospel Meeting. During this, we noted a few people who could become good contacts.” Hillcrest church of Christ, Springfield, Tennessee: Tim Taylor (evangelist) reports, “We are planning a door-knocking event for Sunday, October 5. We plan to canvas some of the neighborhoods in close proximity to our congregation. One of our new movers expressed thanks for the cards we sent them when Max and Donna delivered their welcome bag. They stated that they have started watching our services on YouTube. We will follow up with them and hope to have them visit us in person soon.” Birdwell Chapel church of Christ, Cottontown, Tennessee: Kerry England (elder) reports, “On Saturday, we hosted a BBQ and corn hole tournament for the congregation and the community. We advertised it on social media. We mailed 30 invitations to families that had received backpacks from the congregation and VBS visitors. The response was small, but we will keep trying! On a positive note, we had several visitors on Sunday morning worship! Compassion Card Team 1 sent cards to five individuals this week. We are visiting new movers, and we have one Bible study. We appreciate all prayers.” Rivergate church of Christ, Madison, Tennessee: Doug Tooley (preacher) reports, “We had four visitors on Wednesday night. In the fall and winter, we have a special class for men and women that usually draws in some visitors. On Sunday morning, we had eight visitors. Two were taken to lunch. We had two visitors on Sunday night. Two visits were made last week. We are getting ready to start a class on fundamental doctrines on Sunday nights. It will be good for all, but especially for newer members.” Bridge Avenue church of Christ, Weslaco, Texas: Braulio Carvajal III (preacher) reports, “We set up time on Sunday mornings for an elder to read a scripture, provide a short message about our evangelism, and pray for the efforts of the church. We handed out the survey and are reviewing the surveys. On Saturday, 17 members of the church conducted door-knocking in the community. We knocked on 147 doors, were able to communicate with 11 people, and completed three contact cards. On Sunday morning, we had one new visitor, and she completed a contact card. She was not able to join us for lunch, but we will be joining her later this week for coffee and will have an opportunity to get to know her better. In addition, we had four prospects who returned to services this week, with two being interested in a Bible study.” Eisenhower church of Christ, Odessa, Texas: Allen Weakland (elder) reports, “We serve an amazing God. In our last report, I mentioned our use of compassion cards; we have been using them to encourage our visitors and to express our care and love to the wayward. This past Sunday, Kamilla returned home. She is a young lady who has been battling several things in her life. In her confession, she expressed her sin and reminded us all of the importance of not allowing others to pull her away. Please pray for this child of God as she begins anew her walk with Christ. On another note, our studies with Walter continue, and we praise God. The young lady, America, still needs prayers as she continues in her studies, and please pray for a young man who visited our evening service last night. His name is Matthew, and he visited with the elders about his life. May we encourage this young man to follow the Lord as God has commanded.” Seagoville church of Christ, Texas: Kodie Martin (evangelist) reports, “This past Sunday, we introduced the HTH model, and our preacher (Marco) presented a lesson to correspond to it. This upcoming Sunday, we will introduce the bookmark to the congregation to begin getting contacts. Marco will begin going through the John 4 sermons. Additionally, we have been blessed with two visitors who wished to have a Bible study, so Marco and I hope to begin going through Back to the Bible with them. Other members have already begun referring to the names of individuals we can prospect as well, when the time comes.” North Jefferson church of Christ, Mt. Pleasant, Texas: Davin Whatley (evangelist) reports, “Reach Team 1 met Sunday and wrote compassion cards. It is now time to make the transition visit for one of the names on our list. I learned that one of our members is doing Back to the Bible with one of her coworkers; they are on Book 1! Our Foundations (New Converts) class is going well. We have eight people in the class (five new converts), and this last week I finalized a 52-week plan for the class utilizing material from Caleb Griffith’s The Discipleship Starter Guide (Draft II), David Pharr’s The Beginning of Our Confidence, and more. We have more new converts that have not been attending the class, and we are working on that.” Bridgewater church of Christ, Katy, Texas: Doug Suggs (deacon) reports, “Last Monday evening, we finished the third lesson with Bianca, and she confessed Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was baptized into Christ. It was late when we finished, and she was baptized in the swimming pool of one of our new members. Her picture, along with Daniel’s, is posted on this site. He was baptized about two weeks ago at the same pool. Our goal for baptisms is nine, and we have reached seven thus far. We have a study with Catherine on Wednesday evening, and we pray she will obey the Lord’s teaching as well. We sent material to 58 new movers’ homes on Sunday.” Roanoke church of Christ, Texas: Caleb Rutherford (preacher) reports, “We participated in the House to House National Door Knocking Day; however, we did it with a focus on new movers. Our Senior group assembled 40 bags for us to deliver, and we had 40 members show up on Saturday morning. We were only able to deliver 15 bags, because many individuals were not home. However, of the 15 bags delivered, we were able to get seven contact cards. One of them is an immediate follow-up, and I will be reaching out to this individual this week. Group 4 wrote compassion cards to eight prospects (three of which were from our new movers efforts). We started a study with Veronica on Sunday night after the worship service. Two of our ladies began this study with her. Veronica visited our services a couple of months ago. We sent her three weeks of cards, and then we made a transition visit. She came back to visit again, and we were then able to schedule a study. Book 1 was studied and completed. We ask for prayers for the success of this study! One of our young men, who is in college near us, has been bringing his girlfriend, Mya. We are currently in the process of sending her cards, but she has already expressed interest in studying the Bible and learning more about the church. Kaylon and I plan to take them to lunch next Sunday to get the ball rolling on that. We appreciate prayers for this opportunity!” Colleyville church of Christ, Texas: John Garza (regional trainer) reports, “Concerning our current Bible studies: Josh Hill: Grant, Larry, Aaron, and John took him out to dinner Sunday night to celebrate his passing the firefighter exam. John and Josh are going to meet over coffee this week to keep talking and see where he is. Jessi Mendez: She was busy this past week, so Grant will continue studying with her once he gets back from his trip. Miguel Soto: Miguel works with Larry at Chick-fil-A, and he asked to come to church with Larry. He visited with us on Sunday morning and then had lunch with Grant and Aaron. He loved worshiping with us and plans to return next Sunday. Aaron and Miguel have a study set up for next Sunday. Concerning our prospects, we will continue to pray for Cheri Wamsley and her family. Cheri will be having two procedures on her back; one will be soon and the other will be in a couple of weeks. Also, John reports, ‘Luis and I continued to text and encourage one another last week. This week, he is in Cleveland, so we will not be able to meet. Next week, he will be back home, and we plan to talk again this Sunday to set up a time to have coffee and plan a date to have his family over for a meal.’ Another prospect is Marlen. Grant reports, ‘Marlen is a contact from Chick-fil-A that we have been talking to over the last year. She and her two-year-old son, Izzael, came over for dinner on Thursday. We had a great time, and by the end of the evening, Izzael did not want to leave. Marlen wants to come again and start studying. We are finalizing the exact day.’ We appreciate prayers for these souls.” Wheeler church of Christ, Texas: Garrett English (preacher) reports, “After the Bibles have been delivered to the sixth graders, we usually wait a week and then we have a teacher reach out to those who received Bibles and ask them if they are using their new Bibles, or if they would like help using them. We had a visitor yesterday to our Bible class on Psalms. She was raised in the Lord’s church but has just recently moved back. We hope to study with her. Also, a lady stopped by who lives near the church building; she gave a plaque to the church after hearing about all the good we do in the community. We invited her to study with us or to visit us, and she said she was not looking for a church right now. I aim to take her a thank you card and ask about studying.” Northern Oaks church of Christ, San Antonio, Texas: Mel Hutzler (elder) reports, “This week, one of our young ones came and specifically asked for cards, and one of our older members did as well. This makes for a true congregational group effort. To God be the glory! We will follow up with four people this week. We have four teams going out to conduct those follow-ups. In addition, we have two visitors who are looking for a church and are interested in baptism. We hope to set up a study with them soon. Recently, none of our young adults were trained on how to use the marquee sign for evangelism, and we will change it out every two weeks. We currently have four ongoing studies. We continue to study with five new converts. Our next focused training will be with our card-writing team leaders to review the process of information gathering and recording.” Howe church of Christ, Texas: Aaron Alsbrook (preacher) reports, “We continue to have visitors and gain more contacts, as well as sending all of them compassion cards. We have created invitation cards for our members to give to acquaintances they meet on their daily walks. We will continue to work the HTHSOE model to win souls for our Lord’s Glory. I believe we are studying with five different people/families currently.” Abingdon church of Christ, Virginia: Freddie Klein (evangelist) reports, “This Sunday we were encouraged to see returning visitors from our community—God is opening doors! Our members followed up with transition visits this week, continuing to build strong connections. We also had an excellent turnout for our compassion card group, with many working together to spread encouragement and plant seeds for the Gospel.” Williamsburg church of Christ, Virginia: Jim Bishop (elder) reports, “This week our Wednesday night video from the HTH Evangelism tips was ‘Never Give Up.’ This is a continuing effort to help us all remember the importance of spreading the gospel. On Friday evening and Saturday, we were blessed to have Keno Shrum and his wife, Jamie, with us. Brother Keno conducted a congregational evangelism refresher training for us. We identified quite a few details that will help enhance our abilities in the area of contacts, compassion cards, compiling different individuals in the compassion card groups, and Bible study points. Last Sundy God blessed us with four local visitors. Two of them were families. We finished off the afternoon with the church picnic at a local park, with singing, a devotion, the Lord’s supper, and prayers. One of the local visitors attended the picnic with us. We had a beautiful day in serving and worshipping God.” West Side church of Christ, Salem, Virginia: Jeff Durham (elder) reports, “We had two local visitors for our first monthly Family Day. One had previously come to our building for the memorial service of a friend. The other is a member who has lived in our area for a while but has not regularly attended anywhere. At least one of them stayed for our potluck lunch and our 1:30 p.m. service that followed. Our morning Bible class focused on the Parable of the Sower. We discussed how we can be a PREPARED sower by displaying virtues that will be attractive to those with whom we hope to engage in conversations. We shared ideas of how to ‘break the ice’ with conversation starters to begin creating a connection with people we do not know in the community.” Orange Community church of Christ, Virginia (remote): Marvin Henderson (preacher) reports, NOTE: These reports are from Christians and congregations enrolled in the House to House/Heart to Heart School of Evangelism. These emails are sent to teach and provoke one another to remain focused on the mission of Christ. Each week, we share several reports and highlight one with more details. We hope you enjoy reading them. For additional HTH speaking appointments, go to:
