Featured Congregation: Glendale Street church of Christ, Newton, NC

Flipping a Switch
Written By Dayle Taylor (minister)

Prospects: The HTHSOE process continues to be a tremendous help to our congregation. Several members have shared that this training has “flipped a switch,” changing how they view and approach evangelism. One of our teaching members noted that the process has completely reshaped the way he opens conversations with others. By approaching everyone as a potential prospect, he has helped lead one sister to Christ and has recently begun two new BTTB studies; one with a friend and another with a work acquaintance. In addition, a returning visitor has agreed to begin BTTB studies with David and Maria. That makes three active studies resulting from the efforts of just one couple. Imagine the impact if we all approached evangelism with this same mindset. Our opportunities to exceed 10% growth this year would increase significantly. Please continue to pray for our efforts to build the Lord’s Kingdom in Newton, NC, and beyond.

New Converts: Please pray with us for our new converts, particularly two who have been absent for various reasons. One new convert has returned for worship only once since obeying the Gospel due to reported illness, while another appears to be losing momentum in both class participation and worship attendance. Mentors are actively attempting to encourage and support them, though access has been limited at times. As a congregation, we will continue seeking and using tools to help “Shut the Back Door” and strengthen retention and growth.

Visitor Follow-Up: During this reporting period, twenty-five compassion cards were sent.”

Congregational Reports

Welcome, Dover church of Christ, Tennessee: We want to welcome the Dover church of Christ to the House to House/Heart to Heart School of Evangelism. Cody Brown is their preacher, and he is familiar with HTHSOE. Their elders are committed to training the congregation. Cody has already sent his first report, “We were excited to host the School of Evangelism at the Dover congregation. The leadership was impressed by the level of engagement and involvement from our members, and we pray that others will join us in this great work. We ask for prayers as we get started with reaching the lost in Dover. Metrics: Contacts: 800, Prospects: four, Cards sent: zero, Bible Studies: two, Baptisms: one, Baptism Goal: eight.”

Glencoe church of Christ, Alabama: Keith Ritchie (evangelist) reports, “The Glencoe congregation in Alabama is planning several evangelistic works over the next few months. These works will have the potential to yield contacts, prospects, studies, and save souls. We have had a steady stream of visitors the last few months; therefore, we have hot prospects. Lord willing, we will continue to be blessed. We also have two Bible studies scheduled to begin this week!”

Canal Heights church of Christ, Demopolis, Alabama: David Stephens (elder) reports that new mover’s baskets are being distributed monthly. As of April 2026, the congregation has delivered 358 baskets since beginning the program in 2022. A recent convert, Curtis Vaughan, has been studying with co-workers who work as First Responder Paramedics. We request prayers for these young men; pray that they will continue their studies together and obey the Gospel soon. A request for correspondence course studies came into the church email in March. Allen Webster’s eight-course study was mailed to the individual who lives in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Mountain Home church of Christ was also contacted concerning this individual’s request for study. The Mountain Home church of Christ was familiar with the individual and requested that, if materials were submitted to Canal Heights, they be notified, as they have tried contacting this individual. They will gladly follow up pending our efforts. Please pray that this individual will gladly receive the Lord’s message through the correspondence lessons.”

Central church of Christ, Saraland, Alabama: David Dixon (preacher) reports, “After our announcement last week that my family is leaving Central this summer, I know there is some concern within the congregation about the future. I am trying to reinforce trusting in God; His will is always best. His providence brought us here, and His providence will keep Central growing. We hosted a Marriage and Family Seminar this weekend, taught by Adam and Leah Faughn of Paducah, Kentucky. It was a phenomenal series of lessons, and I wish everyone could hear them. Unfortunately, it was not attended as well as we had hoped, but we do not let that dampen our spirits. On Sunday, a prospect’s name was turned in as a contact, and we sent cards. We will continue the process of evangelism and know that God will give the increase!”

Cedar Grove church of Christ, Andalusia, Alabama: Josh Halloway (preacher) reports, “We are thankful for another active and encouraging week in the Lord’s work as we continue striving to spread the Gospel and strengthen souls. We continued our evangelism efforts through cards, transition visits, and personal outreach. We are sending out 53 cards this week. This brings our April total to 199. Our grand total as a congregation is now 4,922 cards. Our Evangelism efforts resulted in six Bible studies this week. Three of those individuals are progressing significantly. Tanya comes from a Catholic background and is currently working through Back to the Bible material. In addition, we have studied some church history with her. She has now recognized and rejected error and is developing a clear understanding of true New Testament worship. This has been a very encouraging study. We appreciate continual prayers for her growth and commitment. Shawn attended services for the second Sunday in a row. He is making steady, noticeable progress, and it has been encouraging to see his consistency and interest in spiritual matters. Sandy has shown tremendous zeal for the truth. In just two weeks, she has participated in multiple studies (with me, another member, and on her own). She is personally studying material and discussing it with others. She attended Wednesday night services. She even brought a friend to both the study and the services. However, this week she also faced persecution from close family members after speaking to them about religious error. This deeply affected her, and during our most recent study, she was in tears throughout. Despite this, she is pressing forward with courage and conviction. We plan to study the final lesson on salvation with her next Thursday (after I return from out of town). We request earnest prayers for Sandy. She needs strength, comfort, and clarity as she continues seeking the truth. Evangelism is not just about numbers. It is about souls, struggles, growth, and victories. Please continue to pray for our efforts at Cedar Grove.”

Petersville church of Christ, Florence, Alabama: Adam Richardson (preacher) reports, “I am out of town this week preaching a meeting with the church of Christ on Gold Hill Road in Rock Hill, South Carolina. We are praying for many visitors this week. The theme is ‘Perfect Life,’ and there are three more lessons in the series. Eighteen compassion cards were mailed while we have been gone.”

Creekwood church of Christ, Mobile, Alabama: Tucker Presley (preacher) reports, “We have one Bible study going on right now. We are continuing to write cards each week, and the new mover’s work continues as well. We have a number of Meals on Wheels recipients who are so close to the truth, and we want to reach these people.”

Rison church of Christ, Arkansas: Keden Shrum (preacher) reports, “We are continuing to reach out to prospects in our community by sending cards. Lord willing, we will have our third study with Bonnie this Friday. She has learned a great deal from BTTB Books 1 and 2. She has shared that she is hearing things she has never encountered before. We are prayerful that she will be receptive to the Lord’s calling.”

Harrisburg church of Christ, Arkansas: Mark Weston (elder) reports, “Last week was less stressful than the past two have been. We are trying to refocus on training and putting our program to work. We were encouraged to receive five new-mover names from HTH, and we have been busy preparing to make those contacts. Our gift baskets are ready. On Tuesday evening, we have a training session scheduled with about 20 people who have shown an interest in delivering those baskets and making the initial contact. We hope that after those deliveries are made, we will get a favorable response and begin sending compassion cards to our new neighbors. We sent out 80 cards this past week and have received favorable comments from some recipients. That is always encouraging. Our card Team #2 met tonight, and we will mail out 50 cards this week. We had a few visitors this week at services, but none that we will work through the program. Brock has met with a young man and woman that he has studied with recently. It is slow, but it is showing progress. We are hoping to set up additional studies with others in the near future. The elders will be meeting Monday night to discuss visits with our wayward members.  We have worked the program, sent out compassion cards (hopefully softening hearts), and now we must make those visits to see if we can encourage a change of heart in our brothers and sisters who have slipped away. We certainly will rejoice and give God the glory if just one soul is restored. I have said repeatedly that even if we do not see immediate results from our evangelism efforts, our church family has experienced a restoration of minds and hearts, and this has already been one of the most motivating experiences we have had in several years. Our members are enthusiastic and motivated to keep on trying. Our goal is simple: Live our lives like Christ and share our love for our fellow man. Share the Gospel of Christ and watch it change lives! We know it can happen, and we are anxious for the increase!”

Northside church of Christ, Harrison, Arkansas: Larry Keener (elder) reports, “This last week has been a fruitful week for the church. On Tuesday, Emma Middleton decided to be baptized in Christ. She was immersed by her father, Chris, with her mother, Tammy, and sisters, Addison and Annabelle, watching.  Our study on Sunday is on the wedding feast and reaching out to all.  Our coordinators are being identified, and training begins. We appreciate all prayers, knowing that God is glorified in Harrison, Arkansas.”

Bergman church of Christ, Harrison, Arkansas: Vince Stewart (preacher) reports, “We have been working to help the congregation understand all about the compassion cards. Last Wednesday evening, I showed half of the hour-long video that is in the curriculum, and then I answered questions. This did help quite a bit. I will show the other half this coming Wednesday evening and answer more questions. Yesterday I did the sermon on compassion cards, knowing that a few of the members did not seem too enthused about taking time out to write them, so I preached more on compassion and addressed some congregational resistance; all in all, it went well. I also mentioned in the sermon that we will organize   the congregation into two teams, according to the number of names in our church directory. Based on the number of names in our directory, Team 1 includes last names beginning with A-M, and Team 2 will have names beginning with N-Z. I reviewed the plan with our ‘card lady,’ so everything will be ready when Team 1 meets to write compassion cards. Although we only have one contact ready for compassion cards right now, we will do a trial run with that one prospect. Eventually, there will be more prospects/ cards added to each signing session. We did have three visitors yesterday; one of them was my daughter‘s boyfriend, as mentioned before, and the other two are members of the church who recently left a congregation that they had been attending for years; now they are looking for a new home congregation. We gave them a visitor bag and got their contact information, so we will send them a thank you card for visiting. We asked to take them to lunch after worship, but they had other plans.  We were very friendly with them. They said they really enjoyed being with us, and we told them we would love for them to come again.”

Mountain Home church of Christ, Arkansas: Joshua Adams (preacher) reports, “This past week, I had the opportunity to share a follow-up lunch and Bible study with Ryan Kaye, the husband of Chelsea Kaye, who was recently restored. It has been encouraging to watch them begin a new chapter marked by renewed purpose and Christ-centered priorities for their marriage and family. At the conclusion of our study, Ryan decided to be baptized in Christ. He first went to pick up his children from school, wanting them to be present for such an important moment. Along with their mother and grandmother, they met us at the building so his family could witness his commitment. It was a deeply moving and encouraging moment—one that clearly made an impact on everyone present, especially his children. Since then, Ryan has embraced the church family wholeheartedly. He has already offered his help in caring for the church grounds through his tree service business and has been intentional about ensuring his family is present for every opportunity to worship and study. It is truly uplifting to see a heart respond so fully to the Lord. God is good.”

Niceville church of Christ, Florida: Joe Palmer (preacher) reports, “This week we had five studies. We had one family we are studying with attend worship for the first time. We began sending cards to the many prospects we had from our Ladies’ Day. A new Bible study was also set up for the Ladies’ Day. Our ladies planned this event to have an outward focus and even a Gospel-centered theme. On Sunday night, we had a young couple visit us for the first time, and I found out they want to get married, which creates an opening to build a new relationship with them. I had one new person to ask to be trained as a greeter, and our building is more leadership-focused in our ministry. Progress is being made. We mailed 18 cards last week.”

Stuart church of Christ, Florida: Tom Neth (deacon) reports, “This week we had the opportunity to host Keno Shrum for a refresher training week—what a blessing it was for our congregation. His time with us allowed us to revisit and reinforce the model, ensuring that everyone remains aligned and encouraged in the work. Throughout the week, we also focused on addressing some of the challenges we have experienced in translating between stages. The training provided helpful clarity and practical strategies to improve those transitions and strengthen overall effectiveness. We are excited and optimistic about the impact these refreshed approaches and new strategies will have, and we look forward to seeing how they bear fruit in our community in the weeks ahead.  We started a new study and have two others in progress. We continue to send compassion cards, focusing on 10 prospects each week, and sending them ten cards per week.”

Milestone church of Christ, Cantonment, Florida: Randy Brantley (elder) reports, “We had six visitors; one was a first-time visitor and looks like a good prospect. Three Bible studies are continuing. We are sending out 46 compassion cards this week. Training is continuing, and members are still working hard.”

Cartersville church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Charles Harris (regional trainer) reports, “On Sunday, a brother come forward; he wants to improve in evangelism. The submission of contacts using the bookmark has slowed down, so we started using the Prayer Request cards, and more contacts have been submitted. This month, we have sent 80 compassion cards to eight prospects this month. We will be making several transition visits this week.”

Woodstock church of Christ, Georgia: Matt Amos (preacher) reports, “Woodstock church of Christ (WCOC) and the Sunabella Assistant Living Facility devotional had approximately five non-Christians at the devotional on Sunday. Last Friday, we conducted a Bible study session with twelve non-Christians from this facility. The HTH Door Knocking Campaign revisited the doors of the 19 previous contacts to invite them to the church’s 50th Homecoming on May 3, 2026. We had six visitors this past Sunday. WCOC had twelve Bible Studies.”

Warner Robins church of Christ, Georgia: Damien Walker (evangelist) reports, “We started our transition team training. There were close to 30 in attendance. We had 17 visitors on Sunday. We are gearing up for our next big community event: VBS. It is about eight weeks away, but we plan to have our transition team fully equipped by then, so that we can capture visitor info and follow up accordingly.”

Gray church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Keith Dixon (preacher) reports, “We sent out 37 cards, and we have seven new prospects. Things are going well here. We are showing progress. We have a new book by Troy Spradlin that is very good. It is a book on first principles for new Christians. To God be the glory.”

Honolulu church of Christ, Hawaii: Tagiilima Esene (preacher) reports, “Aloha from the Honolulu congregation! We now have two new Bible studies added. We have a total of eight souls in Bible studies at this point. Two of the studies are near the end, so we request everyone to continue to pray for these hearts to be converted by the Gospel. This past Sunday, we honored our kupuna (senior citizens) in the church for their continual faithfulness and for the work they have done and continue to do. We are now preparing for our upcoming give away for the month of May. We usually have a big crowd from the community attend our free giveaways. We plan to utilize this opportunity to be found in favor with men. We appreciate all prayers.”

Harrisburg church of Christ, Illinois (remote): Doug Berry (preacher) reports, “We have now sent 240 cards. Currently, we have one evangelism study in progress. We are starting the new converts’ class with our new Christian sister this week at her home, as it is hard for her to get around. We have nine new movers this month and will follow up with them at the right time with our new movers’ baskets and then cards where appropriate. I am thankful for the continued assistance from Keno Shrum. I have just finished our class on Transitions, and it went well.”

Collinsville-Troy church of Christ, Illinois: Jason Wright (evangelist) reports, “Last week was a slow one for studies. There is a lot of sickness going around. We conducted one study with a man we have been studying with for over a year. Patience!! We mailed 140 compassion cards and gave out a visitor bag. We made six new mover’s basket visits and delivered three. A lady named Cheryl came and toured the building. We sent her cards when her husband passed away 1.5 years ago. We revisited her situation and mailed her a few more cards a couple of weeks ago, just to let her know we had not forgotten about her. She came to worship on Sunday. She says she is looking for a church home. I think she found one. We recently converted a woman, Pam. Her husband is Berto. This Saturday, we have our food giveaway. Eight Spanish-speaking families have signed up to attend. Berto has agreed to interpret. Yes, he is not a member, but his wife is. We need him to help, and he needs Christ. What a combination! I have a ZOOM study set up with a couple in Missouri who attend the Christian church. He stopped attending Bible class because ‘All they do is show videos.’ They are tired of the entertainment. I am hearing this more and more. People are looking for Bible-based worship. We just have to tell them where to find it.”

Lincolnway church of Christ, Columbia, Indiana: Drew Reece (preacher) reports, “We are still working away. Our main focus lately is trying to get organized. We had an evangelism meeting and made a couple of minor tweaks. This week, we had two transition visits, and one seems to be very promising! We appreciate all prayers for good results!”

Columbus church of Christ, Kansas: Matt Fowler (member) reports, “We had a smaller crowd
on Sunday, but we continue to work and pray for doors and hearts to open. We received a card thanking us for a new mover’s basket, and we quickly followed up with another round of compassion cards; we should be following up with a visit. We also wrote cards to three others, two of whom were recent visitors. We are still working to resume a paused Bible study. We request prayers for that. Keep up the good work, brethren!”

Beloit church of Christ, Kansas (remote): Dustin Dougherty (regional trainer) reports, “I was with the congregation in Ransom, Kansas, this last weekend. I enjoy the time I spend with them every other month when I guest preach for them. There were 17 in attendance there, which was the same attendance as Beloit on Sunday. We are continuing the weekly “thank you and concerns” list in an effort to get local contacts. We have seven new movers in the area; we will contact them and take new mover baskets in the coming weeks.”

Flatwoods church of Christ, Kentucky: Nathan Adkins (elder) reports, “This Sunday, we started our spring Gospel Meeting. Our attendance was good with one new visitor from the community, and several other visitors who are not Christians; they have been attending regularly. Our Bible class was about sharing Christ with those we love, along with tips on influencing them for Christ. We prepared 11 cards to be sent this week.”

Spring Creek church of Christ, Hickory, Kentucky: David Morse (elder) reports, “Greetings from the Spring Creek congregation. We have had a busy week related to our evangelism efforts. On Sunday morning, we began our worship service by acknowledging the work efforts of the congregation in terms of the evangelism program. The elders gave an overview of the program and the success we have seen since the evangelism training seminar back in November. As our compassion card contact numbers have fallen in recent weeks, we placed Contact Cards at the end of each pew and asked that they be passed to every adult/teen Christian on the row. We asked all Christians to think of someone they know well (family member, friend, co-worker—people who live a reasonable distance from our location, whom they could contact and talk to about Jesus and the church. We received five names. We will send compassion cards to these contacts, inviting them to worship. The person who provided the names will be responsible for a transition visit/conversation with the person to personally invite them to services and eventually a Bible Study when the time is right. This is in addition to names submitted with a ‘life-changing event.’ Samuel presented a lesson on Sunday morning, taken from Matthew 11:28: ‘Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’ With a lesson tie-in, ten invitation cards were given to each member to pass out to contacts in our community to invite them to worship with us. One new Bible Study began this week. Our leadership team met this past Wednesday to discuss our efforts. Here are our numbers for the week: Visitors – 17, Prospects – 18, Cards Written – 2,070, Bible Studies – three, Baptisms -five, Baptism Goal – seven.”

Central church of Christ, Paducah, Kentucky: Adam Faughn (preacher) reports, “We had a wonderful Sunday with a number of local guests, and we plan on following up with each one in the coming days. It seems as if springtime has brought a little bit of renewed energy to our ‘inviting’ efforts. We were not able to begin our monthly work at the local farmers’ market on Saturday due to the awful weather. We are praying we can pick this up in May and have some contacts—as we have in the past—from this effort.”

Carriage Oaks church of Christ, Bossier City, Louisiana (remote): Daniel Foster (coordinator) reports,
Our young adult group of the Ark-La-Tex area continues to have great success. There are several in the group who attend Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. Two of whom are Ella Cosby and Taylor Bourn. Ella has been inviting her friend, Gigi Madden, to worship over the last few months. Gigi is 19-years-old; she is from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. She grew up agnostic and did not have much of a ‘religious’ background, except she would visit an Episcopal church back home sometimes. Getting into college, she became more interested in Jesus and wanted to learn more about Him. Over the last three weeks, Ella and Taylor have been studying with her and going through BTTB. She has a very receptive heart, but she still has questions. The question that got her was, “If you died right now, where would you go?” She just sat there. She did not know how to answer. After some back-and-forth discussion, she asked, “Do you think Casey would baptize me?” (Casey Clement is the preacher at the Ruston church of Christ). She knew she needed to be baptized for the remission of her sins, or she would have no hope of Heaven. Gigi was baptized into Christ on Tuesday, April 14, 2026! There have been five baptisms since starting last summer, and four this year! God is great! There continue to be studies planned or ongoing.”

Gonzales church of Christ, Louisiana: Ben Vallery (deacon) reports, “Our metrics are: Visitors: two,
Visits Made: four, Cards signed: this week – 26, this month – 78, Prospects/Neighbors: 12, Bible studies: two, Baptisms: 0, 2026 Baptism goal: 20, New Movers Baskets Delivered: 0. Our New Convert’s classes continue on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. Our new mover’s basket coordinators held a turnover meeting, and we expect this work to resume very soon.”

Waldorf church of Christ, Maryland: Joseph Day (member) reports, “For April 19, we had seven visitors. We prepared 140 compassion cards for mailing during this week. We have no updates on Bible studies.”

La Plata church of Christ, Maryland: Eric Sykes (regional trainer) reports, “We completed Lesson 2 of BTTB with one prospect. We have two folks scheduled to complete Lesson 3 of BTTB this week. We request prayers for their obedience to the Gospel. We conducted evangelism training with the ‘Young Davids’ and the ‘Proverb 31 Girls’ youth groups, who will be assisting us during this year’s Celebrate La Plata community outreach event.”

Plainview church of Christ, Fulton, Mississippi: Tom House (preacher) reports, “Following the service, we began the compassion cards work. There was a little confusion about how that works since that was our first time. I am going to have to do some more training. We had a third Bible study, and it is going well.”

Oak Grove church of Christ, Missouri: David Wiseman (elder) reports, “We started the Back to the Bible sermon training this last Sunday. Many of our members were looking forward to this study. There is one ongoing Bible study at this time. We had two visitors this week. Our compassion card teams sent out 33 cards total, including our new movers. We are organizing our transition visits currently and hoping to add prospects to our list. Many members are actively working in our evangelism efforts. It is encouraging to all of us. We have seen former members be restored, and other former members visiting our services.”

Fulton church of Christ, Mississippi: Richard Comer (deacon) reports, “We are teaching Back to the Bible as part of our congregational training. We send compassion cards each week. We are scheduling transition visits to those who have been receiving cards.”

Aberdeen church of Christ, Mississippi: Jonathan Hagar (preacher) reports, “This past Sunday, we had a visitor come and ask for a Bible study, which is rare. He said that he was baptized at 14, but he has been unfaithful in his attendance for many years. He is interested in getting involved again and placing membership. He wanted to study baptism first to see if he needs to repent and go forward, or if he needs to be baptized. He said he is not sure about his first baptism. He says he does not really remember why he did it. I will be studying with him today (Monday), praying that all goes well. We had our Card Writing Sunday this past Sunday. We are trying something new with the cards to see how it will work. We are sending two cards a day for four weeks rather than four cards a day to see if there is a difference. We are also adjusting our New Convert’s class and extending it beyond Sunday morning. We are now having our New Convert’s class on Wednesday night, to help new members who have been having trouble getting to the Sunday morning class. The door-knocking team went out this past Saturday, and they went through a few of the New Movers’ list. They also visited some of the more promising visitors who are close to the building.”

East Flushing church of Christ, New York (remote): Clarence Jenkins (preacher) reports, “We had one visitor this past Lord’s Day. After worship service, we watched the HTH video, ‘Tips for Evangelism: Managing Expectations.’ Our metrics thus far, through and for April 2026, are two baptisms, 10 visitors, 10 Bible studies, and one in our New Convert’s class. We appreciate all prayers.”

Oak Forest church of Christ, Goldsboro, North Carolina: Dennis Mays (elder) reports, “We had six visitors attend services on Sunday. One of these visitors was a lady who recently moved into Goldsboro from Mississippi and is a member of the Lord’s church. She was greeted by our pew greeters and given a welcome bag and her information. On Sunday, we also started our spring Gospel Meeting and had a wonderful meal; all enjoyed at lunch. Compassion cards are being sent out each week.”

New Concord church of Christ, Ohio: Terry Townsend (preacher) reports, “We had one new first-time visitor from the community (relative to one of our members) on Sunday morning, as well as several other visitors from out of town. All of them received a welcome gift and will be sent cards this week. One new Bible study was started; we finished Book 1 of Back to the Bible. Linda (one of our sweet, dear sisters) will be studying with her again this week. This woman has been attending regularly now for two months. She has a daughter and son-in-law who are members.”

East Sparta church of Christ, Magnolia, Ohio: Andrew Masterson (minister) reports, “This week, we still have two studies in progress. We sent out 16 compassion cards. Yesterday we met to discuss ways to reach out to those who have fallen away. It was a great planning session that we will be putting into action in the coming weeks. Two follow-up visits are scheduled this week with prospects.”

Alkire Road church of Christ, Grove City, Ohio: Tony Dunnagan (member) reports, “We had 22 visitors: 13 were family of members from out of town, seven were returning visitors, and two were new visitors. We prepared 64 compassion cards to mail. We had three contact cards submitted. One was from the Wednesday Bible class and two were from the two visitors on Sunday. We rejoice that we had two restorations. Our coordinator for new movers told me we have 37 new movers’ baskets to deliver over the next couple of weeks.”

Grove church of Christ, Oklahoma: Juan Jarmillo (preacher) reports, “This past week was a very sad week for the congregation. A beloved brother passed away, so we ask for prayers for the family.  However, our compassion cards have been getting more productive. We are learning what works for our congregation. We have continually added people to our prospect list, and it has gone up to ten (we also got nine more contact cards filled out this past Sunday). We sent cards to nine prospects this past Sunday, with a total of 141 cards; that is not a typo. We have more than doubled our monthly output to date. It is incredible with the change from setting the compassion cards out after the second service, to having them for all day! We have brought our total to 281 cards sent this month. We have also set up a Bible study with one of our visitors for Tuesday, Lord willing— we ask for prayers for this study, and for the other Bible studies as well.”

Coweta church of Christ, Oklahoma: Houston Shrum (associate minister) reports, “This week, we began planning our VBS, which will take place in mid-June. We are going to focus heavily on making it a contact creator VBS. We are also preparing to complete additional training on the HTHSOE website to fine-tune our evangelism efforts. On Sunday, we had several visitors, and we will be working on following up with them.”

Guymon church of Christ, Oklahoma: Chandler Henderson (preacher) reports, “This last week we finished our first study on BTTB Book 1. We are still struggling to get our coordinators’ list full of members, but we are thinking of ways to break the congregation down into smaller groups to do further training on each evangelism role. Brother Raoul Ferris, a great evangelist from San Antonio, Texas, and his family, accepted a job at our local university Bible Chair, so we are very excited to have them move here and to learn from him in the near future. We sent 56 cards, eight contacts, five prospects, three in-person Bible studies, three virtual Bible studies, and we made two follow-up visits last week.”

Barnes church of Christ, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: John Bellah (member) reports, “Yesterday morning, Jerry Gore presented the, ‘It’s Quantity, Not Quality’ lesson. We prayed for our contacts and made another push to add more contacts to our lists as we began prospecting others. Besides several group studies that have been ongoing, we have one older lady studying with one of our members who has just finished the second lesson of Back to the Bible. While the content troubled her to the point she asked to discontinue the studies, we are soliciting prayers on her behalf that she would reconsider, and we have not given up hope. We are planning to begin some more specialized training for coordinators so we can get all of the parts of the model moving more efficiently.”

St. Andrews Road church of Christ, Columbia, South Carolina: Jamie Byrom (preacher) reports, “This past Sunday, we concluded Book 2 of Back to the Bible as the sermon addressing the name of the church. Twenty compassion cards were written to our visitor prospects and to those who have lost a loved one. We handed out four visitor bags on Sunday, one of which was to a lady visiting from the community, and we took her contact information. We had two returning visitors from the prior week. A Bible study is scheduled for this Wednesday evening before services with a husband and wife who started visiting with us two weeks ago. Also, one member continues in a study with her family member in Book 2 of Back to the Bible. One contact card was turned in by a member. We tried to visit twice but couldn’t reach the prospects, so we’re now collecting information about their schedules.”

Birdwell Chapel church of Christ, Tennessee: Kerry England (elder) reports, “We plan to have an adult class on first principles beginning in May. This will be a way to transition some from a New Convert class to a larger class. It will be a good refresher for those mature Christians and equip them to teach others and defend their beliefs. We will continue to teach the younger Christians ‘to observe all things.’ We have been helping a sister we met through a food drive. She has been attending very regularly and is getting her spiritual life back in line with God’s will. As she does this, other aspects of her life are improving as well. It is encouraging to see God blessing her, and to see her appreciation and recognition of God’s grace and the difference Christ is making in her life!”

White Bluff church of Christ, Tennessee: Shamron Jackson (elder) reports, “We had 11 visitors, and we are sending out 123 cards this week. Keno will be here this week to help us with more training. We are looking forward to spending the week with him. Current Bible studies are still going well, and we are praying for open minds and hearts.”

Hillcrest church of Christ, Springfield, Tennessee: Tim Taylor (evangelist) reports, “We continue to see growth and development in our youth and new Christians! Hudson, who was baptized less than a year ago, spoke for us Sunday evening and offered the invitation. He did an excellent job, as did the rest of our youth who conducted our evening service. We had a great youth devotional last week, with over half of those in attendance being visitors who were invited by members of our youth group. We are looking forward to following up with them and their families.”

Cookeville church of Christ, Tennessee: Josh Kennedy (preacher) reports, “We are currently sending compassion cards to three prospects. We have three current active studies and are preparing to possibly do some door knocking soon! What we have noticed is that some improvement has been achieved through consistent reminders for individuals to provide names for the prospect list.”

Freewill church of Christ, Gainesboro, Tennessee (remote): Andrew Scott (preacher) reports, “We had another great week making new contacts. Our direct mailing list for House to House continues to grow as members submit names. We will also be mailing out flyers for our upcoming Gospel Meeting, May 15-17. The members are excited to get involved with the direct mailing. We are excited to share our results with everyone! To God be the glory!”

West Sparta church of Christ, Tennessee: Justin Turney (deacon) reports, “We are currently still working on visiting the prospects we have. We currently have about 15 prospects. We do not have a Bible study currently. Hopefully, some prospects will begin to commit. We do have a family who has fallen away from the church, and they are currently attending every Sunday. We hope we can begin a Bible study with them soon!”

Chapel Hill church of Christ, Tennessee: Matt Jones (deacon) reports, “We recently had two additional referrals from members of the congregation. We still have several ongoing Bible studies and several studies continuing after conversation with our new converts. Our card-writing teams have had a full group to write to the last few Sundays. We continue to stay focused.”

Mountain Creek church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee: Michael Tomshack (elder) reports, “Another instance of the compassion card’s impact was observed when Gary Massey, Elder and Minister, visited the sister-in-law of a guest who requested prayers for her. Given the critical nature of her need, we allocated 10 minutes of class time to enable the entire adult class to compose individual cards for her. Subsequently, she was added to the weekly card-writing initiative. During Gary’s visit with her and her husband, she presented a stack of cards she had received up to that point, expressing her profound appreciation for the personalized notes from the class. She particularly resonated with the cards that conveyed a sense of shared experience and understanding, given the writers’ similar health challenges. The other cards provided encouragement and uplifted her spirits. They expressed their intention to attend the congregation assembly to thank everyone for the cards. Gary has also requested a Bible study with the man who referred his sister-in-law. May God grant us the continued opportunity to share the Good News. It is important to remember that the small cost of the cards, postage, and time is insignificant compared to the eternal impact they can have on someone’s soul.”

Rivergate church of Christ, Madison, Tennessee: Doug Tooley (preacher) reports, “We had three visitors  on Wednesday night. We had nine visitors on Sunday morning and four on Sunday night. One of the visitors from Sunday morning is meeting with one of our elders today to find out more. We had one come forward on Wednesday night requesting prayers for forgiveness and health issues.”

Colleyville church of Christ, Texas: John Garza (regional trainer) reports, Aarlon Lloyd wrote this summary, “Patrick is the boyfriend of Amber Soto. He came to visit the church with her just because he was interested in seeing what this aspect of her life was like. When he came to services the second week, Aaron Lloyd asked him what he thought about the church of Christ and if he would like to learn more about it. They set up their first study for the next Sunday. Patrick is very logical in his approach to studying the Bible. If he does not understand a claim, he stops and clarifies whether or not it sticks to the Bible logically. In the second study, he often said, ‘That makes sense,’ pointing out that he never thought emotionally but in terms of logical conclusions.  In our final study, led by Grant Puckett, Patrick said, ‘Sounds like I need to be baptized,’ before we even got to the invitation question in John 14:15. He knew what was necessary, and it was clear that he was committing to being who Christ wanted him to be. I am overjoyed for him. May we dwell in the presence of God with Him forever!” Note by John Garza: Amber is a recent Christian who was brought to the church by her brother Miguel, a recent convert. He works at CFA with Larry, who influenced and invited him to worship, and Larry has been a Christian for a little over a year now. I just think that is really cool.

Eisenhower church of Christ, Odessa, Texas: Allen Weakland (elder) reports, “As we update our activity here at the Eisenhower congregation, our New Converts’ class is going strong. Our compassion card efforts has been received with deep thankfulness from several families that are experiencing cancer diagnosis, premature childbirth, and the passing away of a loved one. Words cannot express the impact of these efforts. We simply desire to show compassion during their time of need. Remember, we are to plant and water. This is our daily mission.”

Weslaco church of Christ, Texas: Braulio Carvajal III (preacher) reports, “The church went door-knocking to an apartment complex down the street. We left fliers and met some of the residents. A few weeks later, the apartment manager called the church office to let us know that some residents wanted a Bible class. They provided their community center for us to use, and so we started sharing God’s Word with our neighbors. We met Elizabeth there, and this past Sunday, she brought her children to church. She has expressed interest in a Bible study in her home, and today we started one using the Back to the Biblebooklets. She is a sweet lady with a tender heart. Please join us in prayer for her as we continue our studies. In addition to this week’s Bible study transition, we had 12 visitors on Sunday, along with two prospects. We continue with our new converts’ Bible studies along with three other Bible studies. We will be hosting a kite-flying day this Saturday and inviting family, friends, and a local t-ball team that has been using the church property for practice. We pray that we can make contact with the parents of the t-ball players.”

Centerville Road church of Christ, Garland, Texas: Alan Stevens (elder) reports, “We sent 42 cards last week and continued through the second Back to the Bible training sermon in the A.M. service Sunday.  On Sunday, an additional two contacts were also put forward by members for the compassion list.”

Roanoke church of Christ, Texas: Caleb Rutherford (preacher) reports, “We had 11 prospects that had cards written to them on Sunday. That is a very full prospect list for us! Many of those will be ready for transition visits next week. I will be getting those assigned very soon. Be prayerful that those turn into Bible studies! We also had our monthly EDP meeting, and we continue to plan and strategize for our hosting of AMC.”

Bridgewater church of Christ, Katy, Texas: Doug Suggs (deacon) reports, “After our evening service, we had a young lady who expressed a desire to be baptized. Jaden and her grandparents were at our services, and it was a blessing to hear her make her confession of Jesus Christ and to see her grandfather baptize her into her Savior. We rejoiced with her afterward, and Jim, one of our elders, prayed for her as some of us had gathered to witness this thrilling moment. We also gave her David Pharr‘s book, The Beginning of Our Confidence, a daily devotional book, to help her with her growth. Our new movers group met to send out invites to our services. We had 48 families moving into our area. We look forward to seeing some of them. One of our compassion card teams also met to send cards to prospects. About 40 cards will be mailed. I visited with a woman and her sister who attended the last two weeks of our services, and I am trying to set up a study with them. We appreciate all prayers for our congregation.”

Lake Country church of Christ, Burnet, Texas: Alex Simmons (preacher) reports, “For our first batch of cards, the congregation wrote 62 cards. We are going to be sending them out for the next couple of weeks, and then we will go on some transition visits. Some of our members have also begun inviting contacts into their homes. We definitely still have some kinks to iron out, but we are thrilled to see the congregation begin to take an active role in the great commission!”

Wheeler church of Christ, Texas: Garrett English (preacher) reports, “I stressed the Divine commission last Sunday, and we had our ‘Living with Loss Workshop’ on Friday-Sunday this past week. We had three local community visitors and three from out of town. The local ones stayed for every lesson, even for worship on Sunday morning. We are going to follow up with them and their knowledge of the church of Christ in hopes of studying. I will also be sending the workshop videos to those who were interested but did not attend. Lastly, the young man who visited weeks ago woke up sick and was not able to make it on Sunday, but he intends to meet with me as soon as he can.”

Stratford church of Christ, Texas: Chad Thies (preacher) reports, “Concerning Contacts: We had three visitors to our services this week. Concerning Prospects: A restoration phone call was made. Also, we had two good phone calls that were a follow-up to an ongoing Bible Study. A transition visit was made to a new mover; we have been sending cards to this contact, and now we have visited the person. It went well, and he has requested a few weeks to watch ‘Why Are There So Many Churches?’ We will see what he thinks. A new mover visit was made, and we will start sending them cards and set up future visits. Five compassion cards were sent. We conducted two Bible studies. One of our visitors on Sunday is set up in a Bible Study for this week. No Baptisms. Concerning New Converts, we had two in class on Wednesday and two on Sunday. Concerning Growing Church considerations, there were discussions among members about how to get a study going with an individual. There was also another conversation about how to get a current study renewed; we have already gone through Book 1 with this person. We set up the accountability board and explained its role in the church on Sunday morning. On Sunday night, the lesson noted how important it is to be good stewards as Christians for the Lord’s church. We had very good responses to both lessons.”

San Saba church of Christ, Texas: Justin Bell (preacher) reports, “We are very busy here at San Saba with new convert Bible studies, classes, and mentoring. We have four recent converts with a fire burning within them that we are trying to feed to bring them to maturity. We have two more souls added to our prospect list, bringing it back up to seven. We currently have four ongoing Bible studies that we hope will bear fruit.”

North Jefferson church of Christ, Mt. Pleasant, Texas: Davin Whatley (evangelist) reports, “Garth (one of our elders) began a study with Ben (whose wife, Polly Anna, was recently baptized) and two of his sons, Jeremiah and Ben III. They were not able to do the second study yesterday, but hopefully it will be next Sunday. Regarding Martha’s study with Becky, Becky did not like some of the teachings in Book 2, and she told Martha she no longer wanted to do the personal studies, although she will continue to come to the congregational Ladies’ Bible Class on Tuesdays. Martha is preparing to study Book 3 with her in case she changes her mind. Tonight, I will be studying Book 3 with Evan and Audrey. I am prayerful that they will respond to the Gospel and be baptized! Also, Reach Team 2 wrote cards yesterday.”

Northern Oaks church of Christ, San Antonio, Texas: Mel Hutzler (elder) reports, “Our follow-up work from our door knocking is bearing much fruit. First, our congregational involvement is on point. We have several people wanting to learn more about the church. We also have one confirmed Bible study set up and two possible studies set up. We still have 37 people to seek and ask the ‘three questions.’ In addition, we have a growing prospect board. We are currently in five Bible studies, and we have a growing New Converts’ class that may need to seek a new place to meet so we have enough room! We are very encouraged that our new converts are bringing more souls to Christ, and as a body, we are coming alongside them, helping them nurture those relationships, sending cards, and hosting studies and fellowship meals. This week, four of our members head to Alberta, Canada, to help teach the church there how to door-knock and share Christ in a growing anti-religious nation. God is giving us the increase! To God be all the glory.”

Seagoville church of Christ, Texas: Kodie Martin (evangelist) reports, “We utilized the bookmarks again to get the congregation into the habit of using those once more. We obtained another six prospects! It is exciting to have the congregation involved in that effort and to have their hearts to bring forth names. We also delivered eight baskets to new movers and added five prospects. In total, we have around 58 now, more than halfway to our yearly total, and we will begin prospecting once again this week.”

Williamsburg church of Christ, Virginia: Jim Bishop (elder) reports, “The Williamsburg church of Christ was truly blessed this week with several students and a parent attending the weekly Reading Assistance Program, who stayed and had dinner with us prior to midweek Bible study. The Reading Assistance Program is an outreach program that the congregation uses to assist area students. The monthly men’s Bible study on Friday night was attended by a larger number of men than we have had in many months. On Saturday, we knocked on 32 doors. We were able to leave four bags of food, and we made one contact. We had one new local couple in attendance at worship, who just moved to Williamsburg, and another couple who visited last week. These couples are members of the church. We thank God for sending those who will help build His church. We pray for all those preaching the Gospel, seeking opportunities to teach the lost, and those glorifying God through their daily lives in obedience to Him.”

West Side church of Christ, Salem, Virginia: Jeff Durham (elder) reports, “Congregational Evangelism offers everyone an opportunity to participate. For our next Community Support Day (CSD), we are providing food bags that will make about three meals. Members can contribute funds towards the purchase of those ingredients. They can also assist in assembling those bags as we prepare for the event. On a different note, our Youth Group continues doing a great job as ‘bringers’ (inviting and bringing people to services and events). One of them, a recent convert herself, brought 11 family members and friends to one service! We appreciate their example and desire to carry out the Great Commission!”
