Evangelism and Community Events
Written By Eric Sykes (regional trainer)

Last week was amazing. We are still enjoying the residual effects of our recent American Mission Campaign. On Saturday, we participated in the Celebrate La Plata Day 2026. This is an event to commemorate the Town’s resilience and rebuilding after the Tornado of 2002. We were invited to attend and set up a FREE booth by the event coordinator, Lucindia Anderson. We met Ms. Anderson on the first day of the AMC Door Knocking Campaign. We asked if she knew anyone who needed prayer. She said that her husband recently had shoulder surgery and asked if we would pray for his recovery, and so we did. I noticed that they had a Ring Door Camera. So, I asked if her husband was home and if he would like to listen in on the prayer. She asked, and he said yes. While we were on the front porch praying, he came outside and joined us.

The Celebrate La Plata Day was incredible. In four hours, we had over 100 folks from the community stop by our booth. We prayed and cried with a couple of folks; we handed out 20 FREE Bibles to folks who needed one. We gave out 80 Bible character trading cards to the children. We passed out a table full of tracts and House to House/Heart to Heart newsletters. We filled out four contact cards. Everybody wanted to stop by our booth and spin the Bible question wheel to test their Bible knowledge and win a prize. The kids and their parents loved it. We even had the Mayor of La Plata stop by our booth and spin the wheel. She said that she was Catholic. I told her, ‘We love Catholics, too!’ It was a great day for the Lord and His people.

We (the church) have been in Charles County for over 20 years and in this community since a little before COVID, and yet most folks do not know that we exist. We are determined to change that. So, we are doing our best to make a difference and become KNOWN as more than just a place of worship. We want our neighbors to understand that we are a valuable and reliable resource in our community . . . a place where folks in need can come for support and prayer and help with the trials of life . . . and learn the truth about God’s Word at the same time. We gave out lots of candy to the children, and they loved it. We handed out over 75 invitation cards inviting people from the community to visit our church website or stop by in person.

We had nine folks visit our worship service yesterday. We offered to take them out for meals, but everybody said they would take a rain check, for when they come back. A couple of the visitors really enjoyed the sermon; it was titled ‘Destination Heaven – Everybody Has A Place!’ I was promoting the Post-Evangelism Seminar Survey. We were working to recruit members to join in and support our new area coordinators. It seemed to work; in addition to many of our members of La Plata stepping up and filling out the questionnaires, two of our visitors asked if they could complete one of the surveys. They said they wanted to help! Thank God we had two of our advanced teacher training students on hand, Sandy and Jaumale. They told the visitors, ‘We would love to have you participate and fill out a survey, but before you do, you might want to know a little bit more about the La Plata church of Christ.’ They said all the folks who are filling out surveys today have been trained on why we do what we do. They asked them if they would like to learn more about the church, and they both said yes. We talked about the three short lessons called Back to the Bible. We scheduled both to start a Bible study this week.

This past week we completed 72 compassion cards. We have added one new coordinator to our list. We will start training him and his team this week. Tabetha completed Lesson 2 with her co-worker this week. Sandy and I had to reschedule our Bible study. Chris is still working with his brother; they are getting ready to start Lesson 3 of BTTB. All in all, we have seven open Bible studies.”

Congregational Reports

Welcome Concord Street church of Christ, Orlando, Florida: “We want to welcome Concord church of Christ to the House to House/Heart to Heart School of Evangelism. The attendance was superb, the energy was off the charts, and the leadership was focused. God will do great things with this congregation.”

Fayette church of Christ, Alabama: Josh Taylor (deacon) reports, “Some of our strongest evangelists are the young Christian’s within our congregation. When young people channel their focus on friendships into invitations and being good examples, opportunities abound. We have one young Christian within our congregation who has a friend that she invited to a youth event. Her friend enjoyed it so much that she wanted to come to church with us. Because of those efforts, we have the whole family coming into our worship services each Sunday night. We are thankful for this effort, and we pray that the seed grows in this family’s heart in the weeks to come. We are thankful for our young souls in the congregation! To God be the glory!”

Petersville church of Christ, Alabama: Adam Richardson (preacher) reports, “The Petersville family sent 36 compassion cards last week. The minister and one of the elders attended a half-day discussion today with seven church leaders. They talked about reaching people at different transitions in life, much like the contact card efforts from the School of Evangelism. When people go through big changes in life, the church stepping in to provide support can open amazing doors. Another community member has asked to be identified with the congregation here, which we hope means he is open to a Bible study. We will update as the situation unfolds!”

Hartselle church of Christ, Alabama: Justin Smith (preacher) reports, “We have had two baptisms in the last three weeks. We are currently engaged in one Bible study. We love to see God blessing our evangelism efforts!”

Glencoe church of Christ, Alabama: Rob Whitacre (evangelist) reports, We have two Bible studies in progress.  One is one with Hillburt and has finished the Back to the Bible Book 1.  We should be conducting Book 2 this week.  The second is with Jeff.  He asked to postpone study 2 due to some family issues.  Please keep these in your prayers.”

Central church of Christ, Saraland, Alabama: David Dixon (preacher) reports, “We had a restoration Sunday. One of our sweet sisters, who was herself restored just a few months ago, publicly confessed to hurting another sister with her words. It was a touching scene, and a reminder that evangelism does not stop at the baptistry. The other party involved in this sin is a new convert. Both individuals need encouragement and prayers. This is a learning opportunity for the whole congregation. We continue to send cards, and this week we shared a contact with a sister congregation (also enrolled in the School of Evangelism). We pray for the Lord’s will to be done!”

Hatton church of Christ, Alabama: Chris Miller (preacher) reports, “We rejoice with another teen studying with and leading a friend to the cross this past week. So encouraging to see the young people also helping with soul winning! One of our recent converts is bringing his brother to service, and another husband who has been attending brought his wife this past Sunday. Great opportunities are everywhere.”

Cedar Grove church of Christ, Andalusia, Alabama: Josh Halloway (preacher) reports, “We are continuing to work several of our evangelism programs. We still have around five regular Bible studies. This week, we will be sending out 81 cards. Our total for April is 280. Our total as a congregation is 5003.  This means we have sent out over 5000 in less than a year.”

Creekwood church of Christ, Mobile, Alabama: Tucker Presley (preacher) reports, “One Bible study is going on. Another study should start soon. Contacts continue to be made, and cards continue to be written. New movers work presses on every month as well. We are going to start working with our Meals on Wheels recipients soon.”

Harrisburg church of Christ, Arkansas: Mark Weston (elder) reports, “This week was an exciting week. On Monday evening, the elders met and had a great discussion about our Evangelism program. We are all pleased with the way it is progressing and the positive feedback we are getting from our members. We divided our list of prodigal members, and we plan to head out in pairs to make our visits. We are excited about the possibilities and terribly upset that we took so long to act on this. We have worked with each contact through our compassion card program, and we are looking forward to visiting with them. Again, we are just praying that at least one will have a true heart of repentance and return to the fold. On Tuesday evening, we had a training meeting with about 15 members to discuss our new movers. We had received five names and addresses from HTH and were excited to deliver our gift baskets and invite them to church services. It would be nice to receive favorable responses and start sending them compassion cards. On Wednesday evening, Brock continued a Bible study with a young man. It seems to be progressing well, and we are prayerful that he will obey the Gospel very soon. On Thursday, a young lady stop by the building needing some assistance with a motel room for the night. She has five children and is trying to make her way to Little Rock. We helped her with her room and also delivered some food, drinks, and tracts from the church building. It was just another way to show the love that Jesus had for those in need. On Thursday afternoon and evening, another elder and I made some visits to a few of our prodigals. They seemed to be well received. We are looking forward to more visits in the future. I do not have reports from the other elders, but I know they are out making visits as well. This past week, we attempted to deliver new mover gift baskets to the five new movers whose names we received from HTH. We successfully delivered two of them. We found three of the addresses to be vacant lots or had gates across the roads, but we were excited for the two we delivered. We started compassion cards on them immediately. We are also aware of two more new movers very close to our building, and we plan to visit them this week and present them with a gift bag. It is building excitement within our church family just by being busy. On Sunday morning, Brock presented the lesson on visitors from the evangelism program. It was an excellent lesson, and we had four visitors in attendance. One lady had been receiving compassion cards for two weeks following the death of her father. She was greeted very warmly by our greeters, presented with a visitor’s gift bag, and then taken to lunch by one of our couples. They had a great visit, and I feel confident that she will be back. On Sunday morning, a sister responded; she asked for prayers to be more faithful and for strength for her family. On Sunday night, we had another sister respond asking for the same. What a wonderful example both of these sisters have shown. Our compassion card team met Sunday afternoon, and we sent out another 80 cards. This week has truly been a much-needed uplifting week after the last two weeks we have had. God is good and we look forward to serving Him this week.”

Northside church of Christ, Harrison, Arkansas: Larry Keener (elder) reports, “Northside congregation is now moving forward in our evangelism culture change. It is a challenge that we continue to develop.  Our first card reached out to a past member with a response. We are now planning a visit. David Glenn and Steve Powers continue to encourage with sermons and updates. The membership breakdown for the Compassion Ministry will be posted next Sunday on the overhead screen. Our card storage and writing area has been completed and is ready to utilize. To God be the glory.”

Bergman church of Christ, Harrison, Arkansas: Vince Stewart (preacher) reports, “We did our first round of card signing for sister Patrica Fitch, a long-time member who has cancer, with Team 1. I asked them to sign just one card, and we will take care of the envelopes. We made over 15 cards and started mailing them out yesterday. This coming Sunday will be team 2, and she should have more cards to continue sending out. We did our best to make the first round of signing as good as possible for everybody’s first impression. The card ladies did a fantastic job setting it all up; I complimented them greatly. I will try to remember to take a picture of their table.”

Margarett Street church of Christ, Florida: Troy Spradlin (preacher) reports, “Two baptisms! Two precious souls! Two proud sets of parents! We rejoice that two of our young ones have put on Christ in baptism, adding them to the Lord’s Kingdom! This past week, Cooper Hansen and Josie McReynolds both came to the realization that they needed Jesus. After studying and confirming their understanding, they made a good confession of faith and were washed of their sins! Our Family Minister, Casey Bearden, baptized Cooper, and Josie was baptized by her dad, Matt. To God be the glory! Our total 2026 Accountability Board numbers are: 89 Contacts Received; 66 Neighbors (Prospects); 350 Compassion Cards sent; 14 Bible studies; one Restoration, and six Baptisms.”

Niceville church of Christ, Florida: Joe Palmer (preacher) reports, “This week we sent 60 cards. We had eight studies and one baptism.  Wanda Finlayson obeyed the Gospel. She has been attending for some time and has studied with several people. We rejoiced in her decision. We studied with three young men on Friday. I had been studying with one of these young men, and he brought two friends who were interested. On Sunday, we had one man come who had been receiving House to House. He wanted to learn more about the church and has agreed to a study. We had some other returning visitors and a new couple visiting.”

Stuart church of Christ, Florida: Tom Neth (deacon) reports, “This week we focused on implementing the ideas discussed during our refresher training and have been encouraged by the early momentum. We continue working to strengthen the model and apply the improvements identified during that time. We also recruited additional members for the visitors team, which should help expand our follow-up efforts and deepen congregational involvement. Our compassion card ministry remains steady, with 100 cards being sent each week as we continue reaching out consistently to prospects and encouraging connections. We currently have three active Bible studies underway, with another scheduled to begin this week. We are grateful for these opportunities and excited about the doors the Lord is opening. Year to date, we have seen 10 baptisms, and we give thanks for the fruit God is providing. We are encouraged by the progress being made and look forward to continued growth in the weeks ahead.

Milestone church of Christ, Cantonment, Florida: Randy Brantley (elder) reports, “Yesterday we had four visitors, two of whom were because of one man. His name is Butch King; he obeyed the Gospel as a young man. Through the years, he fell away. Last year, after his mom passed away, he came back to the church. Since we started HTHSOE, he has had four of his coworkers visit with us. One has obeyed the Gospel, and the second one is going through Bible studies now. The third visited once, and the fourth has visited with us for the last two weeks. He continues to show Christ in his life by the way he lives. He does not have the confidence to teach a Bible study yet, but passes out invitation cards every day. As long as he gets people to visit, some of the rest of us can teach. We thank God for dedicated men like Butch. He is proof that there is work for all of us, no matter how many talents we may have.”

Cartersville church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Charles Harris (regional trainer) reports, “Another soul was restored Sunday. Several transition visits will be taking place this week. Our Gospel Meeting will begin next Sunday. The HTHSOE Student Program continues to be successful. We enrolled one more student this past week. This brings the total of students to 250. Each week, I receive messages from various students expressing thankfulness for what they are learning.”

Woodstock church of Christ, Georgia: Matt Amos (preacher) reports, “Woodstock church of Christ (WCOC) and the Sunabella Assistant Living Facility devotional had approximately five non-Christians at the devotional on Sunday. The New Mover’s Door Knocking Campaign knocked on seven doors and made two contacts. The Compassion Group sent out 12 cards this week. We had 12 visitors this past Sunday. WCOC had three baptisms and two restorations.”

Warner Robins church of Christ, Georgia: Damien Walker (evangelist) reports, “This past Sunday, we had a lot going on! We have begun our transition team training, which will be happening over the next several weeks before our evening worship. The group circulated in pairs around to different ‘stations,’ where they found a set of colored cards, each representing a different scenario. Then they played the role of either a Christian or a prospect, depending on the card’s instructions. They learned afterward that those scenarios were based on real people from our prospect list, so they got real experience, not simply hypothetical. Last week, our preacher, Zack, had a couple of events at his house with food and fun. Events like that can seriously bring people in, but the key is being intentional about personal invites. We have had a few handfuls of contacts and prospects attend events like that over the past few months. Our visits have been limited so far this year, but once our transition team has finished training, we will assign visits and follow-ups very intentionally. We are continuing to build our contact and prospect list. Over the past two months, we have written over 500 cards for 35 different prospects.”

Gray church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Keith Dixon (preacher) reports, “We had a good Sunday. Our attendance was good, and it was encouraging to be here. We have sent another 13 cards to seven prospects. This past week, we had someone return all the cards that we sent them. They said they appreciated our work in evangelism, but they were members of a certain denomination. We then talked about it and said, ‘Let’s send her another card for returning all those cards and invite her to our services.’ We are still working. To God be the glory!”

Honolulu church of Christ, Hawaii: Tagiilima Esene (preacher) reports, “Aloha from the Honolulu congregation. We continue to have Bible studies with six souls. Two souls are doing Does It Matter, another two are in Book 2 of Back to the Bible,” and the other two are just starting Book 1 of Back to the Bible. We are prospecting three souls at this time. The Lord gave the increase this past Sunday. After several weeks of Bible study and encouragement from other members of the church, Cayleb made the decision to put on Christ in baptism. Two of his friends who are Christians were trained during the study with Cayleb. There is still more training for these two young soul winners. This was a successful process for them. We pray that as they grow together, they continue to learn how to conduct Bible studies with people. To God be the glory!”

Collinsville-Troy church of Christ, Illinois: Jason Wright (evangelist) reports, “We had our Spring food giveaway on Saturday. We helped over 40 people and made more than a dozen contacts. Two ladies are interested in Bible Studies. We made a follow-up visit on Wednesday. She was at services on Sunday. We conducted three Bible studies and mailed out 130 compassion cards. I continue to send out two mentor videos every week to New Christians. One of the videos comes from the series, Your First 40 Days in the Wilderness. We made four NM basket visits, two of which were home. We made six follow-ups, and three were home. Tuesday, we are going out from 5-6:30 to deliver NM baskets and then eat ice cream. We gave out two visitor bags on Sunday. Two lures in our tackle box are helpful in Evangelism. One is our clothing closet, open every other Tuesday from 1-3. At the door, we give them an invitation for them or someone they know. We are currently in a study with someone we met who needs clothes. Second, the Wednesday afternoon Bible Study at 1:30 allows older folks to join a small group setting without having to drive home in the dark. This has been a great way to get folks into the building. In a couple of weeks, we will be having our Evangelism Refresh. Five from our congregation have signed up for AMC Texas.”

Highland Village church of Christ, Bloomington, Indiana: Mark Stauffer (evangelist) reports, “Highland Village church of Christ held its first Bible giveaway last Saturday. We had excellent support from the congregation and two sister congregations. Unfortunately, the community’s response was sparse. We are looking at ways to make our next giveaway more effective. This one was done as a pop-up event and did not garner much attention. We have been in a Bible study with Karen since November. Karen is confined to a wheelchair due to injuries from an automobile accident several years ago. We completed Back to the Bible a week ago last Friday, and she realized her need to be baptized. This will require her caregivers to assist with the baptism. Please pray with us that the necessary arrangements can be made so that Karen can be baptized into Christ.”

Judah church of Christ, Indiana: Joe Moon (preacher) reports, “We have had five visitors this month.  We continue writing compassion cards. In addition, we have made three transition visits.”

Columbus church of Christ, Kansas: Matt Fowler (member) reports, “On Sunday, we had brother Gage Coldwater come and report on the Manna Project. It was encouraging to see the work going on there. We have sent 81 compassion cards this month, which is a big number for us. Hopefully, we will be able to cultivate some of those into Bible studies. Please continue to pray for our new converts to remain faithful as well. May God continue to bless all efforts in spreading the Gospel!”

Beloit church of Christ, Kansas (remote): Dustin Dougherty (regional trainer) reports, “Due to the severe weather in the area and me being on call, we decided to postpone delivering new mover’s baskets. We had a little over 20 yesterday, about 12-15 members short again of ‘normal,’ but I am not sure why. I have done the thankful/concerns prior to adult class for the last month now. We have no solid contacts put forward yet, but we will continue doing it in hopes they will come.”

Spring Creek church of Christ, Hickory, Kentucky: David Morse (elder) reports, “Greetings from the Spring Creek congregation. This week, we added six names to our prospect list and started writing cards to those individuals. Over the past two weeks, we have had a total of three visitors; two were from our community and one was from out-of-town. This past Sunday morning, Samuel presented a lesson from Isaiah 25:1-4, focusing on ‘the Lord as our refuge and our strength’ and applying it to evangelism. As of this Sunday, we are now showing a PowerPoint presentation with our evangelism numbers between our Sunday class and Worship times to help keep the congregation engaged. Our leadership team continues to meet each Wednesday prior to evening Bible study to discuss our evangelism efforts. Our numbers this week include:  Visitors – 20, Prospects – 25, Cards – 2084, Bible studies – three, Baptisms – five with a Baptism Goal of seven.”

Central church of Christ, Paducah, Kentucky: Adam Faughn (preacher) reports, “We were happy to welcome our two newest converts–Brent and Tiffany–as members at Central. Even when we baptize someone, our elders like to meet with them to make their membership at Central official. We also checked on a couple of recent visitors who have not been with us in a while and found out they have been out of town. We hope to pick up with them soon. We also look forward to at least two Bible studies this week. As summer draws near, we hope to make it a very evangelistic summer, so please pray for us as we make those efforts.”

Gonzales church of Christ, Louisiana: Ben Vallery (deacon) reports, “Visitors: two, Visits Made: four, Cards signed: Wk. – 26 / Mo. – 94, Prospects/Neighbors: 12, Bible studies: two, Baptisms: three, 2026 Baptism goal: 20. New Movers Baskets delivered: 0. Our New Converts classes continue on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings.”

Waldorf church of Christ, Maryland: Joseph Day (member) reports, “For April 26, we had five visitors. We prepared 221 compassion cards for mailing during this week, and we started the follow-up porch visits for those who have received multiple weeks of compassion cards. We pray their hearts will be open to Bible studies. We have one active Bible study.”

Oak Grove church of Christ, Missouri: David Wiseman (elder) reports, “We had three visitors at services last Sunday. There are currently opportunities with all three. Thirty-two compassion cards were sent out. Fifteen new movers also received cards. We are now putting together the bags to make the follow-up visits with both groups. Back to the Bible, is being taught from the pulpit.”

Fulton church of Christ, Mississippi: Richard Comer (deacon) reports, “We made a visit this weekend with an invitation to worship. We are sending 12-15 cards this week, and we plan to deliver a new mover basket this week. I asked several members to give me the names of someone they know to invite. One Bible study will take some time. We continue training on Back to the Bible.”

Aberdeen church of Christ, Mississippi: Jonathan Hagar (preacher) reports, “We had two baptisms this week! Sharon Smith was the second-oldest baptism and the second person to be baptized as a direct result of door-knocking. She knew no one from the church until we knocked on her door by chance. She was baptized this past Friday afternoon. Michael Haynes was our second baptism, and he came as a result of a member’s invitation. He did the Does It Matter? study. He was ready to be baptized after going through just that one study. He came forward during the worship service, after the sermon and during the invitation. This past week, we also had our transition visits; as a result of one visit, we set up a Bible study, which is a huge success! The door knockers also went out this past Saturday. They finished the New Movers list and visited some local people who had recently attended the church. We will have our big annual community fish fry soon, which always draws a huge crowd. We are expecting around 250 attendees, and we are ready to have some contact cards filled out! I will be working on the ‘New Member Spotlights’ this week!”

Concord church of Christ, New Hampshire (remote): Shane Belanger (member) reports, “We are currently working with approximately six prospects; we hope to develop relationships them.  Two of them are men who have visited; they are looking for a church to attend. Two are related to one of our current members. Two others are friends with a man who was recently baptized. Our plan is also to provide some new Christian studies for those who are in need. We also have one ongoing study with a woman who is housebound. One of our members who has been in charge of the evangelistic room has done a great job by organizing and making it user-friendly.”

East Flushing church of Christ, New York (remote): Clarence Jenkins (preacher) reports, “We had one visitor on Sunday. Our metrics thus far, through and for April 2026, are two baptisms, 11 visitors, ten Bible studies, and one in our New Convert class. We appreciate all prayers.”

Glendale Street church of Christ, Newton, North Carolina (remote): Dayle Taylor (preacher) reports, “Prospects: On Sunday, we were blessed with four returning visitors and one erring member. All are family members of a recently converted couple and one of our restored members. Transition visits are planned for this week with two of these visitors. Bible studies continue with Back to the Bible with two prospects. Jerry Smith is currently on Lesson 3, and Emma is scheduled to receive her second lesson this Friday. In addition, Chandon and Eloise have begun their first lesson in Believe the Bible, and Bobby Ballard is scheduled for his third lesson in Does It Matter. We appreciate all prayers for our efforts to build the Lord’s Kingdom in Newton, North Carolina, and beyond. New Converts: One of our recent converts has not yet returned for worship; however, she did attend a Ladies’ event, where she received encouragement. The other new converts were present and are actively evangelizing their family members, as noted above. Visitor Follow-Up: During this reporting period, seven compassion cards were sent.”

Abilene church of Christ, Statesville, North Carolina (remote): Gary Dull (evangelist) reports, “We continue to have Bible studies. We finished Back to the Bible with one person, and today we are going to start the next study (Does it Matter) with her. One person who has just started Back to the Bible, Lesson 3. Our follow-up with new movers and those we have sent compassion cards to is going well. See the picture of Jacque Pettit (our intern from the North Carolina School of Biblical Studies) and Gary Dull. More and more, we reach out to those in our community—my barber, my favorite cashier at the grocery store, and the bank teller. Terry Hale has given us some additional training in Back to the Bible. We feel like we are on a very good path. We have found that the follow-up is most important.”

Oak Forest church of Christ, Goldsboro, North Carolina: Dennis Mays (elder) reports, “This Sunday we had two baptisms. Praise God! These two young individuals had been coming to worship with us for some time and had been studying for several weeks. We currently have nine Bible studies in progress. This is the third baptism for the congregation this year. We request prayers for those who are currently in Bible studies; we hope that they come to the realization that they need to be baptized and become God’s children. This Sunday, the congregation wrote 60 compassion cards. There were four visitors this Sunday. Two of the visitors are moving into the area in the future. They are two of our prospects. The other two visitors expressed perhaps a desire to worship with us after attending our recent Gospel Meeting. We will follow up with them and add them to the prospect list. On Sunday evening, we had the third presentation of Believe the Bible.”

New Concord church of Christ, Ohio: Terry Townsend (preacher) reports, “We had two first-time visitors on Sunday (friends of one of our young people). We mailed 20 compassion cards; will be sending more throughout this week and next. One Bible study continues and another ‘group study’ is ongoing. Two dear sisters prepared a meal and invited their neighbors over, as well as a few members with the intent to ‘prep’ the soil (hearts) for future Seed planting. These neighbors have received compassion cards in the past. A follow-up visit will be made in the coming days.”

Alkire Road church of Christ, Grove City, Ohio: Tony Dunnagan (member) reports, “We had ten visitors this past Sunday. We collected three contact cards to add to our prospect list. Our card teams wrote 67 compassion cards to be sent this week. We rejoice to report one restoration.”

Grove church of Christ, Oklahoma: Juan Jarmillo (preacher) reports, “This past week was not really our best. We wrote 49 cards, which has been our lowest output, especially compared to last week. So, what I think we are going to do moving forward is have the whole congregation write cards every other week and space them out over two weeks, so we can encourage one another more easily to write them. We are also preparing ourselves to do the transition visits very soon, as well.”

Owasso church of Christ, Tulsa, Oklahoma: David Combs (elder) reports, “This week we have one new prospect. On Sunday, we had one new visitor. Our card writers wrote 31 cards. On our Prospect Timeline, one is on Week 3, one is on Week 2 and one is on Week 1. Our stat board shows our progress to date; we completed April with three baptisms for the month. To God be the glory.”

Guymon church of Christ, Oklahoma: Chandler Henderson (preacher) reports, “This last week we finished our study on BTTB Book 1 as a congregation and look forward to starting Book 2 as we continue to train the church on how to conduct a Bible study. We had four visitors on Sunday morning. We have nine contacts, five prospects, three in-person Bible studies, and three virtual Bible studies. We made two more visits. We have one in the New Convert’s class on Sunday morning, going through Growing in Christ, and a men’s Bible study on Monday nights. I have not received an update on how any of the Bible studies are going or which book they are studying. We are prayerful that those souls will obey the Gospel soon.”

Barnes church of Christ, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: John Bellah (member) reports, “On Sunday, we continued our card writing and praying for those on our bookmarks. We have sent over 227 cards to date, but we have seen little movement due to a lack of visits. We have a few that are in need of visits, and we are trying to get that organized. We currently have two personal Bible studies going on and three group studies.”

St. Andrews Road church of Christ, Columbia, South Carolina: Jamie Byrom (preacher) reports, “This past Sunday, Team 3 wrote 64 compassion cards, and we are encouraged by our members’ participation in this ministry. We handed out one visitor bag on Sunday. A Bible study was scheduled for last Wednesday evening before services, but the couple had to cancel due to illness. It will be rescheduled, and they are looking forward to the study. Also, one member plans to conclude Book 2 of Back to the Bible this week in a study with her family member.”

Covington church of Christ, Tennessee: Wayne Dalrymple (elder) reports, “It has been a wonderful week at Covington! We have written a few dozen cards to prospects. On Sunday morning, our New Convert’s class continued. Our newest convert, Brittany, is really growing in her faith and is striving to follow Jesus with all her heart. At the end of our morning worship, Helen, one of our teenagers, was baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of her sins. We rejoice with her and her mother. Her father was there to witness it as well. He is not a Christian, so we hope this will be a catalyst for a Bible study with him. On Sunday evening, a young man walked into the auditorium about halfway through our worship service and sat down to listen to the sermon. I met him afterward. His name is Houston, and he has played basketball on the goal in our parking lot on several occasions. Last night, he saw we were having worship and decided to come in. He is a friend of one of our teenagers, also. We invited him to stay for the youth devotional that took place after the service. He stayed to eat with us (always eat). After we sang for a while, we went outside to play some basketball together. He seemed to enjoy all of it. I feel like he is a good prospect. We pray for the opportunity to teach him the Gospel.”

Rome church of Christ, Lebanon, Tennessee (remote): David Oxley reports, “We have one Bible study planned for this week. We will also meet for our New Convert’s class on Monday. We are happy to report we had a baptism yesterday.”

Soddy Daisy church of Christ, Tennessee: Joe Mallory (preacher) reports, “April has proven to be a month filled with blessings and growth. We have had the privilege of working with a local nursing home on Sundays and Wednesdays, conducting a mid-week Bible study and leading worship services. It is such a joy to share such sweet fellowship with the saints who are not able to leave their dwelling place. It is wonderful to see our contacts continue to visit us on Sundays and agree to talk with us more as we pursue the opportunity to study the Bible with them. We continue to pray for them and send much compassion to them through cards, calls, and visits.”

Southern Hills church of Christ, Franklin, Tennessee: Frederick Klein (preacher) reports, “Things continue to progress well here. We have had some visitors from other churches. We have also worked in our neighborhood and fostered relationships there, as well as through our children’s activities. Joining a local neighborhood Facebook group gave our family the opportunity to do yard work for an elderly woman. We aim to continue having an impact and building relationships.”

Birdwell Chapel church of Christ, Cottontown, Tennessee: Kerry England (elder) reports, “We had several visitors at both services Sunday. Some stayed for our fellowship meal following evening services, which allowed us to get to know them. Visits were made and baskets delivered to several of the new movers to the community. Compassion cards were mailed out today.”

White Bluff church of Christ, Tennessee: Shamron Jackson (elder) reports, “We want to thank Keno for providing some additional training. There is a renewed zeal that was badly needed. Card numbers were down this week, but we are sending out 104 compassion cards. We pray they are well received. We had three new visitors this week, and we were able to get their contact information. We need workers. Pray that we can lead by example and motivate as many as possible to get involved.”

Hillcrest church of Christ, Springfield, Tennessee: Tim Taylor (evangelist) reports, “We were blessed with an attendance of 338 for our Friends & Family worship service yesterday!  That is a 10 percent increase over last year’s attendance (307), which was also the last Sunday in April. We had over 40 individuals/families visit with us, and we are anxious to follow up with them through our card ministry.  Many of these were first-time guests at Hillcrest! There is already one Bible study pending, which we are thankful for as well. We are praying for the increase from the seeds that have been planted and watered.”

Cookeville church of Christ, Tennessee: Josh Kennedy (preacher) reports, “Cards are being sent out to three prospects. We have three active studies and, hopefully, a fourth study! We also have a couple that we have worked on that we will be helping to move, and we hope that we might be able to set up a study from there!”

Freewill church of Christ, Gainesboro, Tennessee (remote): Andrew Scott (preacher) reports, “We had another great week of making additional contacts. We will send out our direct mailing of HTH next week. Our members are ready to get busy and have a mind to work (Neh. 4:6). We will also be sending out digital copies. We added two more names to our compassion card list and will get those cards mailed out this week. Lord willing, I have lunch planned this Saturday with one of our long-term visitors and her husband. I pray for a smooth transition into the study. We will begin Back to the Bible, Lesson 1. To God be the glory.”

West Sparta church of Christ, Tennessee: Justin Turney (deacon) reports, “I reported last week that we had one family who has been attending lately that has fallen away, but we actually have two families. We hope to get them both in Bible studies soon. We are continuing to send cards, and we have 15 prospects still, but no current Bible studies. We pray to have one or more soon.”

Chapel Hill church of Christ, Tennessee: Matt Jones (deacon) reports, “We are still working hard to reach the lost. One of our deacons has recently started a skeet shooting get-together on Sundays before our evening worship. This is a tool to build relationships with those we meet and are able to give a quick invite to those in our community. He has already had several visits! We pray this and all of our works continue to glorify God!”

Mountain Creek church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee: Michael Tomshack (elder) reports, “One easily overlooked component of evangelism is utilizing the House to House monthly publication. We send approximately 6,500 mailings each month to the area near the building as based on postal routes. Measurable impact can be challenging as planting the seed and waiting for fruit to appear may take years. One measure is the number of people who contact us to discontinue mailing to their address. We interpret this as the mailing resonating with them and prompting them to address the issue, which they choose to ignore. In Saturday’s mail, we received a clipped publication request from a family residing in an apartment complex near our building. They selected nearly every House to House publication offered in the current issue. On Sunday morning, I presented the list to Deena Hixson, who serves our library of House to House publications, to gather the information. I also provided the contact information to Gary Massey, Elder and Minister, who will contact them today and inform them that we will provide the information in a structured manner while also requesting an in-person Bible study utilizing the Back to the Bible course. May God grant us the increase. Last week, I discussed the impact of sending cards to the sister-in-law of a visitor. On Sunday, he approached me in the lobby to provide additional information. As a side note, a couple of years ago, the elders decided to have one stationed in the lobby to collect all announcements and be seen as a place to speak with an elder. We rotate the elder each month. The elder then closes the assembly with announcements and prayer. The man came from a denominational background and stated that he had not attended church for over a year. He sat on a pew alone and was never spoken to. However, since he walked through our congregational doors, he has been constantly spoken to, invited to classes, which he is attending, and asked about his sister-in-law. He also stated that Saturday, when he visited his sister-in-law, she showed him more cards received from different people in the congregation and was impressed by the continued correspondence. Gary has already met her and her husband. We have four compassion card teams, and a team meets each week to ensure that contacts received during the week are quickly added to the distribution list. Small, free gestures like a smile, a handshake, an acknowledgment, remembering a name, and a consistent process can open the door to a person’s eternal salvation.”

Rivergate church of Christ, Madison, Tennessee: Doug Tooley (preacher) reports, “We had three visitors on Wednesday. We had seven visitors on Sunday morning. One went to lunch. We had one visitor at a youth devo on Sunday night. I started a new Bible study last week.”

McEwen church of Christ, Tennessee: John Jones (preacher) reports, “In the past two weeks, we have had two restorations. At least one of the linemen we have been studying with has connected with the nearest congregation in his California hometown. We are gearing up for a new group of linemen and still have one ongoing Bible study with a neighbor who has been visiting.”

Collierville church of Christ, Tennessee: Justin Evergarden (associate minister) reports, “Our year-to-date numbers continue to show steady progress. We currently have 12 new visitors, 434 cards sent, and five visits made. We have identified 31 prospects and currently have one ongoing Bible study. There have been no baptisms so far this year, but we remain encouraged by the opportunities developing. Additionally, we have delivered 43 new mover’s baskets this year, and we are thankful to see this effort continuing to open doors and generate contacts within the community. We are staying consistent in our work and are focused on building momentum as we move forward.”

Dover: Dover church of Christ, Tennessee: Cody Brown (preacher) reports, “I preached the parable of the talents this morning and encouraged our brethren to consider what they can do to contribute to our work at Dover. I also encouraged them to take a shovel and dig up their buried talents before the Lord comes back to settle accounts. With the help of Keno and the elders, we decided to focus on the contacts bookmark, the compassion cards, and the new converts class as Phase 1, so as not to overwhelm the entire congregation. Our numbers remain the same as last week, but the two Bible studies are on temporary pause until those families can get settled after moving from Clarksville.”

Colleyville church of Christ, Texas: John Garza (regional trainer) reports, “In the past two weeks, we have had two baptisms, and we have another couple considering obeying the Gospel. However, they will need to work through MDR and count the cost. We have many other studies taking place as well.”

Eisenhower church of Christ, Odessa, Texas: Allen Weakland (elder) reports, “The work continues here with the Eisenhower congregation. We presently have three studies that are ongoing.  It is our prayer that these efforts will bring more souls into the Kingdom. This past Sunday, we were blessed with a visit due to the efforts of brother and sister Wells. Brother Josh is a position coach on his son’s football team, and his son Nolan, age 12, invited his teammate to church. The young man and his mom attended our worship services and expressed how much they enjoyed them, and that they both talked and would be back next Sunday. Please pray for Nolan as he impacts his teammates to follow Christ.”

Weslaco church of Christ, Texas: Braulio Carvajal III (preacher) reports, “Visiting the apartment complex down the road from our building continues to produce contacts. Late last week, I visited the apartment manager to discuss resuming our Bible study with tenants of the apartment complex. We will start our study again in a week or two. During the meeting with the manager, two tenants were present, and one was using a walker. I asked if she needed any other handicap equipment and explained that we have a handicap equipment ministry at our congregation. Today she came by the building, and we provided her with a wheelchair. We invited her to the services and our fellowship meal this coming Sunday. We also obtained her contact information and will be sending her compassion cards. This week, we wrote over 110 compassion cards to be mailed. We had ten visitors at our Sunday services. We were to establish a new prospect and will be following up with him this week. We have four ongoing Bible studies and continue to have consistent attendance at our new converts’ Bible studies on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. This past Saturday, we had our annual kite day. Attendance numbers were down, but a few members invited family. We were able to chat with them, fly kites, and share a sandwich. They were invited to join us for services. We are praying that doors will be opened. On Thursday, we distributed a wheelchair and a walker to five Iglesia de Cristo congregations in our area.  We have accumulated a good inventory of handicap equipment and are providing equipment to all congregations in the Rio Grande Valley over time. This equipment will be used to help members of the church and can also be used as an outreach in the community. Bridge Avenue will continue to collect and distribute equipment to local congregations and our community.”

Centerville Road church of Christ, Garland, Texas: Alan Stevens (elder) reports, “This past week we sent 32 cards. Our initial ‘Transition Thursday’ was held this week and was well attended. A training period was held, and then visits were made or assigned. As we are building contacts, we are also using this time to reach out to new movers. This will be in tandem with a ‘Mission Monday’. The preaching schedule continues in Book 1 of Back to the Bible. We give thanks to God for the dedicated and caring hearts of the saints here. I had not previously sent a photo of the evangelism table. We see traffic here among the members and it seems to be appreciated.”

Roanoke church of Christ, Texas: Caleb Rutherford (preacher) reports, “Our second baptism of the year is Stella, a wonderful, sweet girl in our youth group with a great family who is a huge asset to the Roanoke church. We continue to work and plan for AMC while maintaining focus on our other evangelism efforts. Group 3 wrote to prospects. Transition visits are being assigned this week!”

Bridgewater church of Christ, Katy, Texas: Doug Suggs (deacon) reports, “Last Thursday, Ethan called a friend and asked about being baptized. His friend looked up Chad, a member of our congregation, and he called me. I agreed to meet him at the building. I called John, one of our elders, and we met with him. After talking with him, we baptized him into Christ. He agreed to further study, and I met with him today and will meet with him again on Friday for more study. Last Friday, Jesse, another new convert, came for more study. This makes our fifth baptism this year. We set a goal of 10 and are halfway there. Visitors from our service on Sunday will receive cards.”

Lake Country church of Christ, Burnet, Texas: Alex Simmons (preacher) reports, “This week we received word from some of our prospects about the cards. They are very thankful and thrilled to have been receiving them. We are definitely excited to hear this news, and we look forward to making transition visits.”

Wheeler church of Christ, Texas: Garrett English (preacher) reports, “Two of the local visitors from the workshop were there for Bible class and morning worship! I did not get a chance to talk to them about their thoughts, but I believe we will see them both again. The young man who visited did not show up this week, so I will check in with him this week and try to set up a time to meet with him.”

Stratford church of Christ, Texas: Chad Thies (preacher) reports, “We had five visitors Sunday. We sent 14 cards. We did not make any visits, but we had four Bible studies. We had a New Convert class on Wednesday and two on Sunday.”

San Saba church of Christ, Texas: Justin Bell (preacher) reports, “We had two more baptisms this past Sunday! They are Carolyn Vossler and Alecia Griffith (the grandmother and mother of Haylee Joy Buford who was baptized three weeks ago). We are a little low on our prospects list. We only have four current prospects but hope to be adding more soon.”

North Jefferson church of Christ, Mt. Pleasant, Texas: Davin Whatley (evangelist) reports, “Reach Team 3 met yesterday and wrote cards. We have added two visitors to our card list. Last Monday, Evan and Audrey Williamson were baptized into Christ after studying Book 3. They will enter our Foundations Class and are looking forward to continued studies. I am still studying with Estaban, and Becky resumed her study with Martha and Janice. Becky wants to continue meeting with the Ladies’ class, but she is currently wrestling with Matthew 19:9 and her marriage. Please pray for Becky during this time. Evan and Audrey said this after their baptism: ‘The [house] fire might be the best thing that could have happened to us.’ She talked about how the fire led to her family meeting the church and the studies that led to her and her husband’s baptisms. God’s providence is wonderful, and North Jefferson is so thankful that He brought the Williamson’s into our lives.”

Southwest Church of Christ, Austin, Texas: Bryce Mayfield (evangelist) reports, “We currently have four Bible studies ongoing. These studies are going well and continue to progress. Along with these studies, our evangelistic efforts have been focused on getting more brethren involved. In the next two months, Lord willing, my wife and I will have our first child. As we step away for just a small bit of time, my goal is to have people in place so that the evangelistic efforts will not miss a beat.”

Seagoville church of Christ, Texas: Kodie Martin (evangelist) reports, “Our card-writing team wrote 52 cards to five of our prospects this past Sunday. The ministry is essentially firing on all cylinders as everyone is comfortable and knows what to do. We also preached/taught the congregation, particularly our ‘Navy Seals’ concerning mentoring, an important but sadly neglected aspect of evangelism. We taught them to make those connections, and we will be following up with our new converts going forward. We are close to several studies, and have a few ongoing ones that have hit snags, but we will press on!”

Orange Community church of Christ, Orange, Virginia (remote): Marvin Henderson (preacher) reports, “We are now a house church. We are no longer paying rent. We are starting the New Movers program at our new address. The congregation already feels closer. We appreciate all prayers. We pray for the entire HTH/HTH SOE team.”

Williamsburg church of Christ, Virginia: Jim Bishop (elder) reports, “We were blessed this week with one local visitor for worship. The visitor actually came with another lady who has been there several times with a member of the church. We have found that there is a number of Spanish speakers in the apartment surrounding the church building. We have been using translation cards and have had little success. Most of the families have at least one child who speaks English. We are exploring an avenue to reach children and adults who want to learn English with one-on-one conversations using Luke’s gospel as reading material. The name of the program is ‘Let’s start talking.’ We have two Spanish-speaking members who will help our current Reading Assistance Program director. We pray for all those spreading God’s Word.”

West Side church of Christ, Salem, Virginia: Jeff Durham (elder) reports, “To promote our next Community Support Day (CSD), we plan to use our compassion cards address list to mail postcard invitations to many of them. Some of these folks have attended other CSD events. Hopefully, it keeps a connection and awareness of who we are and what we’re about. Our ‘Getting your financial house in order’ seminar was last night. We did not get the turnout we had hoped, although we had a significant increase in our live-stream viewers. We still feel it was worth the effort to offer our community this type of information and support during these challenging economic times.”

NOTE: These reports are from Christians and congregations enrolled in the House to House/Heart to Heart School of Evangelism.
