Jesus said, “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest” (John 4:35).

Evangelism cannot wait another season. We must start now, or we are going to lose more congregations. Fear is crippling the church of Christ in far too many places. Faith must prevail, and Christians need to engage in the battle for souls.

We have started 2021 with some of the best evangelism numbers I have ever seen. Bible studies are up, baptisms are being reported at record rates, and COVID has created one of the most fertile fields in our lifetime. Congregations and Christians have an opportunity to reach the lost unlike any time in the last two generations. As many religious groups have closed their doors due to COVID, the Lord’s church has an opportunity to shine brightly. At Jacksonville, Alabama, (where I worship), we have more contacts and prospects now than at any time in the past three years. I cannot wait to tell you more about these next Wednesday.

In January, three congregations hosted the HTH School of Evangelism—Pulaski, Tennessee; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Burleson, Alabama. These were attended by over a dozen area congregations and hundreds of Christians. All three elderships of the hosting congregations responded with a commitment to focus on a soul-winning strategy. They have created contact lists, set up evangelism centers, started Compassion Cards, and begun congregational training using Back to the Bible. One baptism has already occurred. The following email is from a member at East Ridge who watched our seminar on livestream.

Hey Rob, my name is Chris Williams. My dad and mom are Tucker and Donna Williams. I wasn’t at the building but watched the seminar on livestream. Thank you for coming! I’ve talked to mom about it this past week. There have been times that were hard for me to strike up a conversation with someone that mentioned something about going to church or just any religious comment that people make. I’ve always felt that I didn’t know what to say or where to start when talking to someone. There have been times where I ended up “debating” someone, and it led nowhere. You have made it easier for me to reach out to people. I’ve never been shown how to do a Bible study, and I think now I can do it. I really do appreciate you and your family and the work you do. I’m excited about the future.

Members of the Lord’s church are ready to fight sin and evangelize America. They just need some leadership, motivation, and training. We are scheduled to train four congregations in February. COVID has no power over the soul as long as we do not allow it to stop the work of the church. The HTHSOE schedule for 2021 is overflowing, and we just keep booking more congregations for the future. The school is growing, staff is being added, instructors are being trained, and God is blessing this work. We continue to thank God for those who send support and pray for the work of HTHSOE.
