Featured Congregation: Roanoke church of Christ, TexasWhat We Learned From AMC- Roanoke An American Mission Campaign is almost impossible to understand from the outside, and just as hard to describe from the inside. If you have ever been on a foreign evangelistic mission trip, perhaps you have tasted of this Heavenly experience. The unity of 61 congregations from 17 states, with hundreds of workers taking the Gospel to the lost, is a phenomenal experience. What is AMC? When we started in 2021 in Rome, Georgia, our goal was to reproduce the organization, intentionality, and resources garnered in a foreign mission campaign on US soil. This goes way beyond a Gospel meeting, Vacation Bible School, or clothing/food drive. HTHSOE provides intensive training and opportunities to work alongside Christians from all over the world to execute various First, John 4:35 is true in all ages, areas, and levels of affluence. “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.” AMC answered a huge question in Roanoke: “Can we successfully evangelize affluent areas?” To be honest, we were not sure, as even the elders and preachers had doubts. Roanoke is upper-middle-class to rich, with an average income and a median household income of $156,872. We canvassed all areas, including Trophy Club. What did we find? 357 contacts. Second, Matthew 9:36-38 holds true regardless of wealth. Jesus said, “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.” Money does not buy joy and peace. Our goal is to reach out with compassion, love, kindness, grace, and mercy. AMC uses prayer, compassion cards, random acts of kindness, benevolence, and a free community meal to open hearts and to show people that we care about them. We had 39 community visitors at the meal (Friday), and 138 contacts from prayer and compassion cards (Monday and Tuesday). Third, Psalm 19:7 is still the power of God. “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.” Those who visited came back because of the emphasis on the Bible. Countless people expressed dissatisfaction with the local Milestone community church and its entertainment-themed religion. We found seekers who wanted simple Gospel preaching/teaching. Adult visitors who came during our nightly VBS signed up for personal Bible studies. As of the following Sunday, ten total Bible studies have been scheduled. Fourth, Acts 2:46-47 is impactful when understood correctly. “And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” The church is how we draw people because she is the light of the world and the salt of the earth. She can garner the “favour” of the people. There is power in the church of Christ that should be embraced and utilized. We do not hide our identity, doctrine, or morality. There are people who respect our loving but uncompromising loyalty to God. Fifth, Matthew 22:14 is a proven mathematical approach to evangelism. Jesus said, “For many are called, but few are chosen.” If you want to save a few, you must go out to the many. If you go to the few, you save no one. We placed 56 names on our “Few Board.” How do you get 39 community members to come and share a meal at the church building? How do you get 30 visitors on Sunday worship? We went to 6,504 houses and spoke to 1,770 people. Sixth, Matthew 5:16 brightens the darkest places. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Sin saturates our nation, and at times it overwhelms the Christian spirit with defeatism and discouragement. This year, we used Random Acts of Kindness cards ($5 gift cards) to hand out to strangers. The smiles, conversations, and interest in the church were unarguable. Although our data is incomplete, we made several contacts from this simple overture. Brother Eric Tipton, who has conducted extensive testing, reports a 39 percent contact rate with it. Seventh, Acts 2:46/5:42 still works. House to House/Heart to Heart is a generational tool. The printed page, mailed directly to homes, remains an effective and desirable tool in our digital age. We had over 100 contacts ask to receive this magazine. One young lady wrote, “I used to get this and always loved reading it. I can’t wait to get it again.” As with all campaigns, the New Movers list produced by HTH/HTH was our most fruitful cold contact generator, at 65 percent. Eighth, John 4:15 still exists. “The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not . . . .” The Samaritan Woman still exists, and we must “needs go” (John 4:4) to our communities and find her. Last March, AMC hosted FHU students to help us with a new approach called “Word on the Street” (WOS); we found those who did not own a Bible. We found that among Generation Z and Millennials, a majority did not own Bibles. These groups were ripe for this offer, and contacts were made. One was baptized as a direct result. During AMC-Roanoke, we found the same results. There are people all over our nation who need Bibles. Ninth, 1 Corinthians 3:5-7 is the blueprint for evangelism. “Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.” We are at best, “unprofitable servants.” Our work is to serve the Master and bring Glory to Him. The promise is clear, and the “increase” is certain, but our role is vital. We must plant and water. Tenth, Matthew 28:19 is congregational. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” “Go Ye” means Go All! We must learn how to work together. The Body is not made of just one member but many Christians with different talents (1 Corinthians 12:14). God has given the Body everything we need to succeed, but we cannot do it alone. The Roanoke congregation stepped up, members worked all week, and every area of the campaign was covered. Upon our departure, the congregation immediately began to greet visitors, write Compassion Cards, set up Bible studies, and go through the contacts. The Great Commission is congregational and not individual. We are stronger together, and when trained and led, the church of Christ is unmatched in ability. We need more AMC’s. As with Thessalonica, in the New Testament, other congregations should use Roanoke as a model for reaching the lost in their communities. The battle for renewed growth using Biblical strategies is being fought in more and more places. We thank God for His Power and Dominion and pray for increased faith among His followers. If God can do it at Roanoke, He can do it anywhere. Congregational ReportsGlencoe church of Christ, Alabama: Keith Ritchie (evangelist) reports, “Our Vacation Bible School last week was far better than anticipated. We had more than 25 children and young people each night, many of them visitors. We also had many visitors in our adult VBS class hearing brother Greg Dismuke. One visible benefit from this effort is that we had two of those visiting children return for all services this past Sunday. Their father is a wayward member of the church, and this could open the door for restoring him. We have had many good works in the last few weeks that have consumed our time. However, we plan to renew our Transition Thursday visits next week. Also, a sister who was recently restored and placed membership with us mentioned that the compassion cards we sent beforehand had a part in her decision to choose Glencoe. To God be the glory! Hatton church of Christ, Town Creek, Alabama: Chris Miller (preacher) reports, “Eli Robbins obeyed the gospel this Sunday, and we rejoice with him and his family! We also hope to study with Mrs. Whiteside, who is in Vanderbilt Hospital and not in good shape.” Creekwood church of Christ, Mobile, Alabama: Tucker Presley (preacher) reports, “David and I had a great meeting with a couple who have been visiting regularly and helping out with our Meals on Wheels program. They have agreed to do weekly studies with us starting this week! We also continue to write cards each week. The new movers’ work is still ongoing, and we have a steady number of visitors each week. VBS is on the horizon, which is a great opportunity for evangelism!” Cedar Grove church of Christ, Andalusia, Alabama: Josh Halloway (preacher) reports, “We are continuing our evangelism efforts. We still have around five regular Bible studies. This week, we will be sending out 91 cards. The total for June is 305, and the grand total is 5592.” Fayette church of Christ, Alabama: Josh Taylor (deacon) reports, “We continue to revive a great number of visitors in our congregation. Yesterday we had three new visitors who our minister had invited from the community. We are beginning to send cards to them and hope to begin working with them soon! We appreciate all prayers!” Mountain Home church of Christ, Arkansas: Joshua Adams (preacher) reports, “This past week, our congregation’s evangelism efforts focused on walking through the basics of the HTHSOE program. We also continued to follow up on our post-VBS compassion card campaign and have already welcomed several in-person visitors connected to both VBS and our previous annual Fall Festival in October. It is encouraging to see community outreach events develop into ongoing relationships—and ultimately opportunities for worship, hospitality, and Bible study. The more meaningful face-to-face interactions we have with visitors, the greater the opportunity to build trust, share a meal together, and open God’s Word. Before our Sunday evening worship, 16 ladies gathered for a prayer meeting, lifting up our congregation, its various ministries, and the direction of our work together. We are grateful for the faithful women who continue to support the church through intentional prayer. Following the evening service, 15 members stayed to write 33 compassion cards as we continue reaching out to our community with encouragement and the love of Christ.” Northside church of Christ, Harrison, Arkansas: Larry Keener (elder) reports, “This week at Northside, we continue to move forward; our number of contacts is now growing quickly. Our Card coordinators now have their groups ready, and we kicked off our teams this week. We also sent our teens on a mission trip to Tulsa to minister with intercity kids at Contact Church of Christ VBS. All baskets are now made, and transition visits are beginning. We give glory to God as we reach the lost.” Bergman church of Christ, Harrison, Arkansas: Vince Stewart (preacher) reports, “We are still waiting to attain the info on our new contacts to be able to start sending compassion cards. The neighbor to our church building apparently hit a golf ball and broke our front glass door. He left a note apologizing for the damage, his info, and offered to pay for it. We got it fixed and decided instead of letting him pay for the door, one of the other men and I went to his door yesterday to see if he’d be willing to just come and attend Bible study class and worship with us instead. He wasn’t home, so I will try again on Wednesday. Hoping we get a Bible study eventually out of the deal. Bible class yesterday went very well, and we still have great attendance. I went over what you said the church is struggling with in the last Zoom meeting: getting “contacts”. So I discussed and asked them questions after showing each of the three videos on contacts: “creating contacts”, “finding the few”, and “intentional contacts”. I do believe they are enjoying the short videos, discussing them, and asking questions about each. I got another member and his wife enrolled in the “new movers” email from HTHSOE / per his request. They live a long way away, in the opposite direction from the church building, and want to start hitting the new movers in their area. I got the feeling the congregation liked the idea of visiting the fire departments and first responders, etc., to make new contacts. And it was encouraging to me, I’ve noticed I’m beginning to hear more evangelism talk among more members about ideas, what we could do, I said with great enthusiasm to each, “Yes, we can do that,” and even tried to expand on their ideas, two of the members mentioned to me the same idea about the neighbor who broke the glass front door. I hope and pray this is the beginning of our cultural change.” Harrisburg Church of Christ, Arkansas: Mark Weston (elder) reports, “If you have been following our reports, you know that May and June were extremely difficult for us as a congregation. Death invaded our doors numerous times, and we were stressed for almost two months with taking care of our brothers and sisters in Christ here. We tried our best to continue to work on the program, and I feel our members did a remarkable job. Staying focused was difficult at times, but realizing what is at stake kept us motivated. We are serious about our new evangelism attitude, and we are committed to sharing the gospel more openly with our neighbors and friends. With that being said, I am excited to share that for the month of June, we had nine visitors to our assembly. We are excited, because these are not just one-time visitors; they have become regulars. We are thrilled with the possibilities that have been presented to us. We will continue to encourage them, invest our time and efforts into them, and look forward to some Bible studies are in the near future. “Our compassion card teams sent out 300 cards this month. HTH is feeding us several new contacts through their new movers program. Many of them have not turned out to be new movers, but they have certainly become new contacts from our new movers’ teams who are delivering the new movers baskets. We worked on 22 new prospects for June, and we are looking forward to where this leads us in July. We made 13 visits in June. Again, we are trying to be patient and praying that hearts will continue to be softened so that we might study the Bible with them. Brock is continuing to present the Back to the Bible series on Sunday mornings, and they have even proven beneficial to our regular members. What a great study this is; it certainly builds confidence in each of us that we can do this study with our neighbors and friends. The weather has turned brutally hot here and we pray that God will protect us from the heat as we continue to try to make visits. He is definitely opening doors for us, and we just pray that we will be patient and allow the program to work. This past Sunday, we had several area congregations visit with us for our monthly Fourth Sunday Fellowship. Many of them were excited about what we are doing with our Evangelism Program, our Evangelism Table in the foyer, and our Compassion Cards. We answered many questions and even gave them some contacts. It would certainly be beneficial to our Lord’s church if EVERY congregation were involved in an evangelism effort that dominated their time and efforts. After all, that is our purpose as His body!” Concord Street church of Christ, Orlando, Florida: Billy Dickson (evangelist) reports, “Please join us in praying for the 10 ongoing Bible studies currently taking place and for our New Converts Class. We have been encouraged by a couple, Joe and Sandra, who have been visiting with us for some time. After Joe recently underwent surgery, our congregation sent them compassion cards, with 10 cards sent so far. This past Sunday, they surprised us by bringing thank-you cards for each member who had written to them. We are thankful for this open door and ask for prayers that they will be receptive to studying God’s Word. Last Sunday evening, we continued our evangelism training by focusing on contacts (visitors) and how we can better connect with and follow up with those who come through our doors. We are grateful for the growing evangelistic spirit within the congregation and appreciate all continued prayers on behalf of this work.” Stuart church of Christ, Florida: Tom Neth (deacon) reports, “This week we were blessed to witness another soul obey the gospel through a member-led Bible study. It is always encouraging to see our members actively sharing their faith and to watch God bless those efforts. This baptism brings our total to 12 baptisms year to date, and we give God all the glory. Beyond this wonderful news, we continue faithfully working on the process. Our members remain engaged in greeting visitors, writing compassion cards, and inviting others to study God’s Word. These consistent efforts continue to strengthen relationships and create opportunities to share the gospel. Our member-led Bible studies remain a great source of encouragement as more members take ownership of personal evangelism. The Faith and Life class also continues to have a positive impact on both our new converts and the teens participating alongside them, helping to build a strong spiritual foundation. We are grateful for the ways God continues to work through His people. Each baptism is a reminder that faithful sowing, patient waiting, and trusting in God’s timing produce an eternal harvest.” Niceville church of Christ, Florida: Joe Palmer (preacher) reports, “This week, I was glad to see some things start to take shape as our efforts are becoming second nature. A young couple visited the church on Sunday, and because I have been ill, it was my first time meeting them. I am sure they had received cards, but not only that, without anyone asking them, they told me that a young couple had dropped by and given them some cookies. While I was there, another young couple was setting up a play date for their kids. We had ten visitors and two studies ongoing.” Margaret Street church of Christ, Milton, Florida: Troy Spradlin (preacher) reports, “If you plant and water, God will supply the increase. Today, we celebrate Anthony Turner’s decision to be immersed for the remission of his sins, proving that God indeed keeps His promises! Anthony has been attending with his family for quite some time. His dad, Robert, studied with him recently and then had the blessing and privilege of baptizing his son. We were blessed to have Keno and Jamie Shrum with us this past Sunday. He preached a very encouraging, “call-to-action” lesson for us. It was well received by the congregation! I also had the opportunity to participate in the American Mission Campaign (AMC) in Roanoke, TX, this past week. It was absolutely incredible! AMC is a remarkable work and a mission experience beyond anything I have ever experienced (and I am saying that from a seasoned foreign missionary’s perspective)! It was such a positive experience that I’ve already set aside time to teach our youth group the new door-knocking and contact-making techniques I learned. I also plan to integrate these, along with a few additional methods, into our ongoing evangelism ministry. Our total 2026 Accountability Board numbers are: 168 Contacts Received; 103 Neighbors (Prospects); 661 Compassion Cards sent; 23 Bible studies; 1 Restoration, and 10 Baptisms. Milestone church of Christ, Cantonment, Florida: Randy Brantley (elder) reports, “We had 11 visitors yesterday. One of our members gave an invitation card to a man he had met. Clint and his wife visited in the morning, and he came back to the evening service. I have been texting with Clint since the first of February, and we sent him compassion cards last month. He has agreed to a Bible study; we just have to set a time. The program is working, and we are thankful.” Cumming church of Christ, Georgia: Murphy O’Brien (member) reports, “We have continued the training and setup process. Total Visitors Info this year: 10. Visitors follow-ups last week: 3, Total Visitors followed up with this year: 23, Cards sent last week: 0, Total cards sent this year: 33, Prospects: 5, Bible studies last week: 2, Total Bible studies this year: 33. Baptisms Last Week: 0, Total Baptisms this year: 1.” Cartersville church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Charles Harris (regional trainer) reports, “For decades, the church here has had a food pantry. It has been provided for members in times of need and for occasional community members who contact us. Recently, I have promoted our pantry to the community. This has resulted in Bible studies with two souls. One of those souls is reaching out to another to encourage a Bible study, also. This year, I have been ‘Texting the Text.’ There has been much feedback throughout the year. Today I was asked by one receiving the Text for a Bible study. From our church parking lot, there is a great view of an annual July 3rd fireworks show. Last year, we invited the community to join us, and this year, we are doing the same. We are praying that many contacts can be made. Enrollment in the HTHSOE Student Program continues to grow. We had a new student, Jessica Roberts enroll this past week.” Woodstock church of Christ, Georgia: Matt Amos (preacher) reports, “Woodstock Church of Christ (WCOC) and the Sunabella Assistant Living Facility devotional had approximately seven non-Christians at the devotional on Sunday. The New Movers Group Door Knocking Campaign knocked on eight doors and made three contacts. We had seven visitors this past Sunday at WCOC. The compassion group sent out seventeen compassion cards. WCOC had eight Bible studies last week.” Gray church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Keith Dixon (preacher) reports, “We sent out eight cards. We have had one Bible study with two visits made. We also did an act of benevolence with three prospects. I know this is not as upbeat as we might like, but right now my wife and I are grieving in our hearts. We had a grandson who, 10 years ago, received a heart transplant. I am thankful that we got 10 more years with him. We are having a celebration of life on Wednesday of this week. One good thing out of this is I got to sit down with another grandson and have a Bible study with him. We are going to put our daughter, who has lost her son, on our card sending list; maybe we can have a study with her. Pray for us that we will always give God the glory!” Collinsville-Troy church of Christ, Illinois: Jason Wright (evangelist) reports, “What a week it was at AMC Roanoke! Now it is time to get back to work here at the local church. During the last two weeks, we conducted six Bible studies. We mailed 160 compassion cards and gave out a visitor bag. We are praying for cooler weather!” Harrisburg Church of Christ, Harrisburg, Illinois: Doug Berry, preacher, reports, “We continue to send a lot of cards. We have more people to visit who received cards recently. We also have a new family who is studying the Bible plans and being taught by one of our members! We are very thankful for this program that is assisting us in reaching souls that we would not have reached before! We are looking forward to having Keno Shrum come to us on August 22-23! I will be out of the country on a mission trip to the Czech Republic and to western Ukraine for two weeks for the AmeriKraine Bible Camp for Ukraine families by Lviv. We expect about 400 Ukrainians to be in attendance.” Columbus church of Christ, Kansas: Matt Fowler (member) reports, “We have had a great last few weeks and really have a lot of momentum rolling into the summer. The brethren have been busy. Last week, we had our second and third baptisms of this year with Jake and Paige obeying the gospel. They joined our new converts class this Sunday. We have a great problem in that our new converts class is outgrowing our classroom! We had a family visit us for a second week in a row who had received a new mover’s basket. They stayed for the fellowship meal again, and we will keep tilling the soil in hopes that a Bible study will develop soon. We also had some visitors from out of the area, which is fairly uncommon for us, and we were delighted to have them. We wrote compassion cards to three prospects and also to encourage a member who has moved out of the area. For the second week in a row, we were reminded of how much God has blessed us in growth. We were missing nine of our regular members (most of them out of town), but we still had 30 in attendance! We appreciate all prayers for our efforts as we keep praying for all who are involved in reaching the lost.” 15th Street church of Christ Ottawa, Kansas: Brady Altic (associate minister) reports: “Our brother Clayton’s study with Emma and Edwin resulted in Emma following the gospel. Please pray for Edwin as he is still trying to figure it out. We are planning to study with Quinn this Thursday. Please pray that his heart be softened and that he may understand God‘s word. We are sending compassion cards to Elo as he is suffering from an aneurysm, and brother Cal plans to visit him after we send the cards. We have VBS this week, and we have made some good contacts; we hope to have Bible studies soon. Prayers are appreciated and needed for our studies and our congregation to stay steadfast in this work for the Lord.” Beloit church of Christ, Kansas: Dustin Doughtery (preacher) reports, “I traveled out to the Ransom, Kansas, congregation to teach and preach for them yesterday morning. We had a small group, but they are good people. I have three new mover’s baskets made up, ready for next weekend, and I will be picking up supplies for several more soon. We are preparing for our fair booth at the county fair and our upcoming vacation Bible school, all in July, after we get back from PTP Branson. We pray for many contacts via the fair booth and VBS. To God be the glory.” Spring Creek church of Christ, Hickory, Kentucky: David Morse (elder) reports, “Greetings from the Spring Creek congregation. We held Vacation Bible School this past week. Our congregation hosted six teenagers and their chaperone from Texas. This group, along with some of our members, went door-knocking in the community. Two visitors from the community attended four nights of VBS, which we have now included on our Compassion Cards list for the next few weeks. We have one Bible study taking place now, and two others have agreed to do a Bible study with us in the weeks to come. Our Red Group wrote compassion cards this week. Updated numbers include: Visitors: 22, Prospects: 15, Cards Written: 2,475, Bible studies – one, Baptisms – five, Baptism Goal – seven.” Central church of Christ, Paducah, Kentucky: Adam Faughn (elder) reports, “Late Wednesday night, we were thrilled to see Sophia Mabry be baptized into Christ. Sophia is a teenager in our youth group who knows the Bible and has had several studies with family, youth group members, and others. She wanted to be certain of her decision. We are confident that this was her decision because no one saw it coming. The seed finally took hold, and she was immersed by her uncle late Wednesday night. What a joy! We are also so happy that two of our men–Matt McDougal and Matthew Myers–attended AMC in Roanoke, and both came back on fire for evangelism. We were excited to reveal that Central will be hosting AMC next June. Our congregation is already excited, and we know we have a tremendous amount of work to do, but we cannot take our eye off the ball of doing our part to reach the lost in the intervening months! There are souls to rescue right here, but also around the world. We sent 12 members of the Central family to Zambia for the next two weeks, and we are praying for them as they share the Gospel there. One thing I was most happy to see was that, before they left, our youth and family minister, Noah Davis, told the group that, when they get back, he expected them to share the faith here, and not just do that ‘over there.’ That is the spirit we are striving to have.” Carriage Oaks church of Christ, Bossier City, Louisiana: Andrew Wynn (preacher) reports, “Yesterday (6/28) we had a short devotional looking at passages from Proverbs that are applicable to our compassion cards efforts. Our compassion card teams have been organized, and our compassion card room is being organized and finalized. Our goal is to start our organized compassion card efforts on 7/8 after our Wednesday night Bible class. We continue to have ongoing Bible studies with new Christians and those who need to obey the gospel. We appreciate all prayers for our continued efforts to plant and water.” Waldorf church of Christ, Maryland: Joseph Day (member) reports, “At Waldorf this Sunday, we had 8 visitors! We also celebrated the baptism of Herve Tabe.” La Plata church of Christ, Maryland: Eric Sykes (regional trainer) reports, “This week the saints of the La Plata Church of Christ wrote 79 compassion cards. We had four visitors. Sandy and I completed Lesson 2 of Back to the Bible with a man and woman who have been visiting the congregation for the past few weeks. We had a very good study; the young man thanked us for the study. The woman told me that she was 72 years old, and this was the first time anyone had ever taken the time to sit down and have a ‘real’ Bible study with her. She said that she learned a lot, and both are looking forward to our next Bible study. We appreciate prayers for her and her friend that they will obey the gospel. We will study Lesson 3 of BTTB with them next week. Our new movers’ team assembled eight new movers’ gift baskets and went out to deliver them to our new neighbors earlier today. I hope I can announce success with our study. We currently have five folks in open Bible studies and 12 folks on our prospect list who are receiving compassion cards. Please keep us lifted up in prayer as we continue to reach out to our community to share the gospel of Christ. God Bless!” Oak Grove church of Christ, Missouri: David Wiseman (elder) reports, “We had the largest attendance this last Sunday morning than we have had in a long, long time. It was great to have a nearly full auditorium. We had 14 visitors. All of our visitors this week were traveling members of the Church. We continue to work through the lessons; we just completed the Back to the Bible study books. Transition visits are being made, and we are hopeful for some positive results. Fourteen compassion cards were mailed out last week, along with our work program cards and visits. We continue to refine procedures around our evangelism program.” Fulton church of Christ, Mississippi: Richard Comer (member) reports, “We continue to send about 20 cards per week. No studies. No contacts. No visits. Keno will be here in three weeks for training.” Aberdeen church of Christ, Mississippi: Jonathan Hagar (preacher) reports, “We had a BAPTISM this week! Reagan Hendrix was baptized after a week at the local church camp. She came to our youth minister and said that she wanted to study with us to go over baptism and the responsibilities of a Christian. She wanted to be baptized at camp, but did not want to do it as an emotional response to all her friends getting baptized, so she wanted to study with us first to make sure she was doing it for the right reason, which was so encouraging to us to hear a young girl say that! She was definitely ready after our studies with her. After her baptism, we let her put up the new number on the accountability board as a new tradition. I already have her Bible with her name on it and a certificate ready to go. Her “New Member Spotlight” is already up as well! We had a great number this past Sunday, which may have been because I put up ads on Facebook for our special “Singing Sermon” that we do once a season. People seem to love it! We have leaders in the church present studies on their favorite songs, and then they lead all the verses of that song. This Sunday, we had four speakers scheduled. We had six visitors. We need to add more members to our visitor response team because we could not get to all the visitors! My friend and I talked to those we could, but we did not get a chance to connect with all of them. Most of them were return visitors, but there were two who were new, so he tried to focus on the new ones, and I focused on the return visitors. We have two more individuals who are on the visitor response team, but they were out yesterday, unfortunately. We managed to get three visitor cards. The door knockers plan to go out this Saturday, so we are excited about that prospect. We appreciate all prayers for their success. We continue to do the bookmarks each week after the sermon.” East Flushing church of Christ, New York (remote): Clarence Jenkins (preacher) reports, “We had four visitors last Lord’s day. We mailed out 50 invitations for our upcoming VBS, Back-to-School, and picnic in the park to our contact list from last year. Our metrics thus far through and for June are three baptisms, 13 visitors, 10 Bible studies, and one in our new convert’s class. We appreciate all prayers.” Concord church of Christ, New Hampshire (remote): Terry Hale (evangelist) reports, “Last week was a great week! After studying Book 3 of Back to the Bible, Annette was baptized for the remission of sins. Lincoln repented after years of being away from his brothers and sisters in Christ. We are currently in one study and will set up another this week. We are also prospecting several more. New convert class is going well with three in attendance Sunday.” Glendale Street church of Christ, Newton, North Carolina (remote): Dayle Taylor (minister) reports, Prospects: Two neighbors we met during our door-knocking campaign on May 31st visited this past Sunday. The compassion cards they received played a significant role in the HTHSOE process and helped encourage their visit. After hearing the morning sermon, Herman Bines came to understand his need for Christ, repented of his sins, and was baptized into Christ. We rejoice with him, and as is our custom, the congregation gathered around him in prayer following his baptism. We look forward to continuing studies with Herman, as well as with his accompanying friend. A couple from the congregation took them out for dinner after worship to begin building relationships and encourage continued study. David and Maria are continuing their Back to the Bible studies with their relatives, Fred and Connie, as well as with Sam and Elloise. In addition, studies with David’s coworkers, Jerry Smith and Terry Benton, are ongoing. Denise and I have also begun studying with Tyrone Parson. He received the first lesson well and expressed enthusiasm for continuing. Your prayers for this work are greatly appreciated. New Converts: Our new converts remain faithful in attending both Sunday worship and Wednesday night Bible study. They are also actively participating in various aspects of the SOE efforts. With the addition of our newest convert, their consistent attendance and eagerness to learn will serve as encouragement to Herman Bines. Restorations: Two restored sisters continue to attend faithfully, although one is currently ill. A restored brother has struggled with attendance over the past three weeks, and attempts to reach him have been unsuccessful. Prayers are requested for Ryan. Visitor Follow-Up: Nineteen compassion cards were sent during this reporting period. Goldsboro church of Christ, North Carolina: Dennis Mays (elder) reports, “We will start making visits to our new movers this week. Everything is set up and ready to make the new mover baskets. On Sunday afternoon, the compassion card writers completed 60 cards.” Alkire Road church of Christ, Grove City, Ohio: Tony Dunnagan (member) reports, “We had 15 visitors. Six were traveling, or family, and the rest are returning visitors; we already have contact cards for them. Fifty-five compassion cards were sent last week, and 65 were sent this week. We have approximately 30 new movers’ baskets to be prepared over the next two weeks; then we will schedule the delivery. Tim suggested the “Impact Sunday” idea, which sounds like a great idea that we may implement. We have three ongoing Bible studies.” New Concord church of Christ, Ohio: Terry Townsend (preacher) reports, “We started a new Bible study last week. We delivered six New Mover Baskets. Next week, we will begin our “Family Bible School.” We hope to get some new prospects from that effort.” Owasso church of Christ, Oklahoma: David Combs (elder) reports, “We finished the week with a baptism on Friday. Susan Goff is our newest sister in Christ at Owasso. What a great way to end the week! We are thankful that Dan studied the Bible with Susan. Yesterday was a great day to worship. Dan had two great lessons for us yesterday. Our morning was ‘When Should I be Baptized?’ The second sermon was about deciding when a person might need to be be baptized again. Following evening services, Group 4 met to write compassion cards. Seventeen writers wrote 61 cards to be mailed out this week.” Barnes church of Christ, Oklahoma: John Bellah (member) reports, “On Sunday, Gary Henson preached the second lesson of Back to the Bible Book 3. This series has been well-received by our congregation. Bobby, our newest member, brought his parents to eat at our potluck, and they stayed for our second service. We pray that this might lead to a study for them as well. On Saturday, several of our members came for a work day to prepare our building for growth. We worked outside and cleaned inside to make it a welcoming space that will not be a hindrance to those who are less spiritually minded.” Grove church of Christ, Oklahoma: Juan Jarmillo (preacher) reports, “We had crazy weather warnings on the day that we were planning on visiting our prospects. So that day was postponed to this week. We appreciate prayers for this effort; we hope we can get some Bible studies from it. We will start writing cards to a few more prospects, and we pray that they will be successful in the future!” Coweta church of Christ, Oklahoma: Houston Shrum (associate minister) reports: “We had several visitors Sunday. One has been coming for the past few weeks. She was amazed by all of the compassion cards she received. Sunday evening, we wrote cards to the other two. We are very close to a study with the one who has been attending. Please keep this in your prayers.” Marietta church of Christ, Oklahoma: Chase Green (preacher) reports, “Wow! What an incredible week at AMC – Roanoke! I have never been more confident in door knocking! The results are evident! We at Marietta have our VBS coming up starting this Sunday. We will begin door-knocking for it tonight, and we cannot wait to implement the tools that we learned at AMC. We had 10 members attend AMC Roanoke (plus a few children) last week, and we now have the tools to get to work! We anticipate this being one of our best VBS events ever! Also, we had a recurring visitor respond to the invitation yesterday. He requested prayers for his family and for help with repentance. He has some difficult matters to repent of coming up, but he is near the kingdom. He seems to have a very receptive heart, and I am hoping he will obey the Gospel soon. We are fired up at Marietta, Oklahoma!” St. Andrews Road church of Christ, Columbia, South Carolina: Jamie Byrom (preacher) reports: “We wrote 41 compassion cards to certain prospects. We also acquired contact information from a couple visiting us from the community who said they were currently attending a Baptist church. They were visiting here because the husband is a friend of one of our members. They were given a visitor’s bag and will be put on the compassion card list. Earlier in the week, the elders and minister visited another prospect who was in the hospital recovering from heart surgery. This contact was given to us by certain members of the Lord’s church in Alabama who are friends with this man and have been talking with him about the gospel. He will begin receiving compassion cards this week, too.” White Knoll church of Christ, South Carolina: James Reynolds (deacon) reports, “This week, we started praying for those on our contact lists. We had a new visitor and are working toward a Bible study with him.” Southern Hills church of Christ, Franklin, Tennessee: Fredrick Klein (preacher) reports, “We are all hands on deck as we prepare for our VBS beginning Wednesday. We hope to make meaningful connections with visitors and families, with the goal of building relationships and setting up Bible studies.” Soddy church of Christ, Soddy Daisy, Tennessee: Joe Mallory (preacher) reports, “Praising God for the great success from AMC! We will be praying for the studies that will come from the many contacts made during the campaign. We at Soddy are preparing to meet our community this Saturday as we open up our parking lot to a few hundred people who will come watch the fireworks show. We will be ready to get to know them and invite them to VBS, which will begin two days later, on the 6th of July. We will have food prepared and a place to sit and get to know them. Looking forward to obtaining many contacts to reach out to in the coming weeks.” Cookeville church of Christ, Tennessee: Daniel Burton (deacon) reports, “We have made a push to get more names from the congregation, and it has been a bit challenging. As always, the congregation steps up. We have completed some restructuring of the compassion card teams to allow better flow. One of our Elders and another member had a study with a couple who have been visiting. It has been positive. Yesterday we had a very nice couple visit and mentioned a Bible Study. We have added them to our card program and are going to touch base with them again this week. We will continue praying for receptive hearts. Our God provides!” Birdwell’s Chapel church of Christ, Cottontown, Tennessee: Kerry England (elder) reports, “This past week, new mover cards were given out. Several of them were visited, given a gift, and invited to services. Also on Sunday, approximately fifty invitations to our upcoming VBS were sent to individuals who have been to our recent outreach activities. We plan to track how effective this effort is by comparing it to our VBS registration this year. Mason Sadler is working as a mass media intern this summer. He is working to improve our online presence. He has posted ads for our summer series and VBS, as well as reels of Dale’s lessons, devotional thoughts, and invitations to visit Birdwell Chapel. He had two good contacts this week. He has followed up with them. They spoke favorably of visiting worship services soon.” Hillcrest church of Christ, Springfield, Tennessee: Tim Taylor (evangelist) reports, “We were blessed with two Christians who responded this week, seeking prayers and encouragement. It is such a blessing to know that we have an environment of mutual support among our church family as well as soft-hearted souls who seek to be pleasing to the Lord. We are gearing up for Bible camp in less than two weeks, and are praying for growth among our children and youth group.” White Bluff church of Christ, Tennessee: Shamron Jackson (elder) reports, “We had another great week! We had nine visitors. We are sending out 136 cards this week. We had four baptisms this week: Tara and Hannah Pickard, and Chazz and Stephanie Jackson. Praise the Lord! God is blessing the efforts at White Bluff. June has been a busy month; we pray that July can be successful.” Freewill church of Christ, Gainesboro, Tennessee (remote): Andrew Scott (preacher) reports, “What a blessing it is to hear all of the great success from AMC. We are praying for you all. Our work continues; we had returning visitors and are sending out three more sets of compassion cards this week. Also, we are setting up two more lunch invitations and Bible studies. We still have five studies pending. Next week, we will be doing our direct mailing of HTH once again. We already have new names turned in. Our members know their training! What a blessing it is. We love you all.” West Sparta church of Christ, Tennessee: Justin Turney (deacon) reports, “We are getting ready for two events coming up. We hope to create a lot of contacts and prospects. We are just a couple of weeks away from our VBS. Then at the beginning of August, we have our gospel meeting. We hope to have a lot of visitors!” Mountain Creek church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee: Michael Tomshack (elder) reports, A crucial component of the comprehensive evangelism process is the ongoing instruction of new converts. As I mentioned in last week’s report, this is the second week of distributing cards to visitors. Additionally, utilizing the Flooded VBS series from Apologetic Press has demonstrated, through the feedback of two new converts and several more experienced members, that they had not received extensive exposure to the material presented or comprehended the significance of the biblical narrative of the flood in relation to Christian evidence. It is imperative to impart the complete truth of God’s word to each generation, as this establishes a solid foundation upon which to withstand the teachings of the world, particularly in the face of the relentless onslaught of teaching of billions of years of evolution and the numerous attacks that the Bible contains, fabricated stories lacking any basis for genuine scrutiny. To sustain the growth of new converts when the initial excitement of conversion diminishes, it is crucial to strengthen their faith through the revelation of God’s truth, as also seen in the world around us. As new converts encounter similar, if not greater, opposition from those outside Christ for their belief in purported fairy tales, it is essential to equip them with the tools to defend the gospel message effectively. Adult VBS serves as an invaluable opportunity for the Keepers portion of evangelism to enhance their beliefs and prepare them to articulate a robust defense of the gospel message.” Rivergate Church of Christ, Madison, Tennessee: Doug Tooley (preacher) reports, “We had four visitors on Wednesday night. We had 13 visitors on Sunday morning and three on Sunday night. Seven of the visitors were taken to lunch by members. One transition visit was made last week.” Collierville church of Christ, Tennessee: Justin Evergarden (associate minister) reports, “Our year-to-date totals are now 24 visitors, 560 cards sent, five visits made, 38 prospects, six active Bible studies, and 49 New Movers baskets delivered. We are thankful to see the Bible studies continue to grow, and we are praying these opportunities will bear fruit in the weeks ahead. We appreciate all prayers and encouragement.” Southwest church of Christ, Austin, Texas: Bryce Mayfield (evangelist): “Good evening, Brother. I’m glad to hear things went well at AMC. It was encouraging to see the pictures on Facebook. Thanks for sharing. I apologize, I do not have a detailed report today. This was my first day back in the office since our little one was born. Next week, I will have a more detailed report. We do have 4 Bible studies going on at the moment. Please pray for the souls. Thanks for all you and your family do!” Colleyville church of Christ, Texas: Aaron Lloyd (evangelist) reports, “Last week, John and I got to evangelize with the church of Christ in Roanoke, Texas. The most impactful thing was seeing what only a little bit of evangelism can produce. In six days, with only two to four hours of work each day, we generated 376 contacts total for the week. As a result, they had 30 visitors on Sunday morning, from which they derived nine Bible studies. The methods we used are simple, easy, and clearly very effective in reaching out to lost souls. John and I are looking forward to incorporating these tools into our ministry and teaching them. If there is anything in this email to remember, it is that consistent outreach generates massive growth when we let it.” Roanoke church of Christ, Texas: Caleb Rutherford (preacher) reports, “Whew! What a beautiful week! Hosting AMC is not a task for the weak. Gratefully, the body at the Roanoke Church of Christ was up to the challenge. We were able to host over 115 people from over 60 congregations and more than 17 different states. Together, we were able to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community, and we came away with over 370 contact cards at the end of the week. Nine Bible studies have already been set up, and more are in the works. What a blessing it is to labor in the Kingdom alongside the best people in the world.” Bridge Avenue church of Christ, Weslaco, Texas: Braulio Carvajal (evangelist) reports, “We did a lot of outreach this week. On Monday, we selected a neighborhood and distributed about 30 boxes that contained vegetables and fruits. The box contained information about our community garden and free vegetables available to the community. On Tuesday, we distributed 40 boxes with vegetables, small gifts, and information about VBS. On Wednesday, we visited an apartment complex and met with about 20 adults and 15 children. We shared vegetable boxes and ice cream. On Thursday, we conducted door-knocking in two other neighborhoods. Overall, we had four people who are interested in Bible studies and one person wants to attend services. On Wednesday, we had eight visitors and 12 on Sunday. Northern Oaks church of Christ, San Antonio, Texas: Rob McNicol (elder) reports, “We have five Bible studies going on along with seven people in our new converts’ class. We had several from our group join the AMC campaign in Roanoke last week and have come back rejoicing.” Bridgewater church of Christ, Katy, Texas: Doug Suggs (deacon) reports, “One of our compassion card teams met and sent out cards this past Sunday. We have four from our congregation and two from College Station who have gone to Mexico for one week. They left on Monday and will return on Saturday. We request prayers for all of them as they teach and encourage the people there. We are getting ready to start a Bible study with a family of three, and we look forward to having them as a part of our congregation. They have attended for a little while now.” San Saba Church of Christ, Texas: Justin Bell (preacher) reports, “Things are going great at San Saba. We had our quarterly door-knocking last weekend and made 17 contacts. We currently have 11 prospects and three Bible studies. We have three new mover visits to make this week and one transition visit.” Wheeler church of Christ, Texas: Garrett English (preacher) reports, “I heard and listened to quite a bit of the AMC stuff, and I am hoping to use the motivation and the tools given to better our efforts here in Wheeler. We had our third week of VBS today, and attendance has been consistent, with a few new contacts each week.” North Jefferson church of Christ, Mt Pleasant, Texas: Davin Whatley (associate minister) reports: Last week was a great one at AMC Roanoke! Our young men who went are energized and more confident in their ability to reach the lost! They also want to go to Paducah, KY, next year (and maybe more people will come with them)! Our card teams wrote 149 cards over the last two weeks. Mary got sick, so Joan and I were unable to study Book 2 with her. Our VBS Kickoff on Saturday went well, and we have two families who said they want to come to our weekly VBS starting Wednesday! We have also invited families who attended last year.” Stratford church of Christ, Texas: Chad Thies (preacher) reports, “We had one visitor and are sending out Compassion Cards to our prospects. We made two visits and have two ongoing Bible studies. We have a large group that attended the Red River Family Encampment. So far, it has been a wonderful time, and we are enjoying growing spiritually and our relationship with one another.” Seagoville church of Christ, Texas: Kodie Martin (evangelist) reports, “We are proud to announce that camp was a success; two young ladies we are affiliated with put on Christ in baptism, with five others from neighboring congregations making that decision also. We had a good turnout of workers and success with our latest round of New Movers. We delivered five baskets and made good contacts with those we met. We pray that these will lead to future prospects. Lastly, this week kicks off VBS, and we are ready to get started with making it evangelistic! We will have an adult class with a get-together afterward, before the kids are dismissed, so we can talk, get to know each other, and get contact information to have more prospects! West Side church of Christ, Salem, Virginia: Jeff Durham (elder) reports, “We made our monthly Compassion Cards transition visit assignments yesterday. We share successes, concerns, and best practices for making these visits. One lady we visited last month expressed her appreciation for our cards and prayers. She indicated she plans to come to services after her current health issues level off. Our evening lesson was a unique one, using Dr. Seuss’s favorite Green Eggs and Ham as an example to consider. The character Sam-I-Am was persistent and unrelenting in his insistence that the other character should at least try green eggs and ham. In our evangelism efforts, we could do well to follow that example and not give up too easily or make assumptions about who might listen to and accept the Gospel’s saving message, if given the opportunity. Plant, water, and trust God (1 Corinthians 3:6).” Williamsburg church of Christ: Jim Bishop (elder) reports, “We had a great week this week at the Williamsburg congregation. VBS was a huge success. We were blessed with more than 60 attendees each night and on Saturday for the cookout. We have four contacts with whom we will work to initiate Bible studies. The Lord has again provided us the opportunity to share the Gospel and glorify Him within the community. On Sunday, we had one local family who attended VBS and came to worship and Bible study. Thank God for the opportunity to spread the Gospel.” NOTE: These reports are from Christians and congregations enrolled in the House to House/Heart to Heart School of Evangelism. These emails are sent to teach and provoke one another to remain focused on the mission of Christ. Each week, we share several reports and highlight one with more details. We hope you enjoy reading them. For additional HTH speaking appointments, go to:
