of Christ, Goldsboro, North Carolina

The Value of a Spanish Ministry
Written by Dennis Mays (elder)

On Sunday, the Oak Forest congregation had four families visit. We were able to give each family a visitor bag. Two of these families were young families with toddlers. We hope to ask them out to eat later since it was Father’s Day.

The best thing that happened this Sunday was a baptism. Let me give you the background of this conversation. Our Hispanic congregation that meets in our Fellowship Room has not had a preacher for some time. The Eldership at Oak Forest, with input from the Hispanic men, searched for a preacher for them. We found a great Godly Hispanic man. This is great for Oak Forest, as this preacher is also fluent in English.

He needed to have his visa renewed, and this has taken longer than we would like. We arranged for the preacher to come and spend the last two weeks with the Hispanic congregation. During this time, he has preached, taught, and gotten acquainted with the 125/150 Hispanic families worshipping there. He has taken some Hispanic copies of Back to the Bible and taught them how to use them. It was during his teaching and preaching time that he had the opportunity to teach the young lady using the Hispanic Back to the Bible series. On Sunday, he preached the worship service, and as he offered the invitation, this young woman responded and wanted to be baptized.

As our English service was over, the Hispanic brethren accompanied the young woman over to our auditorium so she could be baptized. It was wonderful to see a new sister in Christ added to our family at Oak Forest. It was such a great way to end a worship service. The Hispanic congregation invited the English-speaking congregation to come and enjoy a fellowship meal with them and celebrate a new Christian Sister.

In the afternoon, the Compassion Card writing team composed 88 cards to be sent to those in need of encouragement and prayers. We asked the Hispanic preacher to come over during the evening service and preach to both the English and Hispanic congregations. The Oak Forest family will hear the sermon in English, and the Hispanic congregation will read the Hispanic preacher’s lesson in Spanish as it is displayed to the congregation on the screen in the Oak Forest auditorium

Congregational Reports

Glencoe church of Christ, Alabama: Keith Ritchie (evangelist) reports, “In the past three weeks, the Glencoe church of Christ has had six members come in repentance. This is a vital part of evangelism. Keeping souls and going after the wayward is a God-given obligation. We have awesome possibilities that lie ahead with VBS, our summer series, the September lectureship, door knocking, College/Young Adult devotionals, Youth devotionals, and much more. These are “inviting” opportunities. These opportunities create contacts. We have one ongoing study presently. May God help us to sow, grow, and glow in His service. To God be the glory!”

Hatton church of Christ, Town Creek, Alabama: Chris Miller (preacher) reports, “ One of the most hopeful things we are seeing is the faithfulness of new converts, especially recent ones.  Several of them are bringing family members who are now on our prospect list as we continue to befriend them.  We continue to have youth who are also active in setting up studies with friends, using things like church lock-ins and VBS to invite people with the goal of trying to study with them.”

Creekwood church of Christ, Mobile, Alabama: Tucker Presley (preacher) reports, “We have one Bible study ongoing. New movers work continues, and cards continue to be written each week as well. VBS is coming up in a couple of weeks. That will bring many visitors. We will collect visitor info and follow up after VBS.”

Central church of Christ, Saraland, Alabama: Steve Jernigan (elder) reports, “Central hasn’t slowed down in sending out compassion cards; we sent 15 cards last week, with more to go out this week from our Monday Night for the Master gathering. With members keeping active in evangelism, we know the church will grow. Each card, each note written, is planting the seed of the gospel and the Love accompanying it; we know God’s will is being done. We are looking to save ‘just one more’ each time we send a card or letter, or have a conversation with friends, neighbors, family, co-workers, or strangers on the street. We know it is not about numbers but about saving lost souls.”

Cedar Grove church of Christ, Andalusia, Alabama: Josh Halloway (preacher) reports, “We are thankful to report that one of the young men we have been studying with, Ian Savage, was baptized into Christ this week. We rejoice with Ian in his decision to obey the gospel and begin his walk as a New Testament Christian. We are also grateful to one of our elders, Larry Turman, who assisted with his baptism. The angels in heaven rejoice when one sinner repents, and we certainly rejoice as well (Luke 15:10). We currently have several Bible studies, both for those who have never obeyed the gospel and for those who are newly converted. We appreciate continued prayers for these individuals as they grow in their knowledge of God’s Word and make spiritual decisions. We are also continuing our evangelism efforts through our card-writing program. This week, we will be sending out 70 cards, bringing our total for the month of June to 214 cards and our grand total to 5,501 cards.”

Mountain Home church of Christ, Arkansas: Joshua Adams (preacher) reports, “Our annual Bible camp took place this week, and throughout the week, five teenagers made the decision to put on Christ in baptism. Even more exciting, three of those young people are from our own congregation. The first baptism took place Wednesday evening. Eason Rectenwald has been attending our services and participating in our youth group for quite some time. Though his family is not part of the church, he first began attending because of friendships he developed with other teens in the group. Over time, those relationships not only strengthened his own faith but also led him to begin inviting and bringing his friends to church events and Bible classes. Eason has understood for some time what he needed to do, but like many young people without Christian support at home, making that commitment took time. A week immersed in a Christ-centered environment and surrounded by faithful influences helped him take that final step. He joyfully gave his life to Christ, and before camp was even over, he was already encouraging others and helping lead singing. The second baptism was Briley Poe, the oldest granddaughter of our Youth Minister. Briley and her family moved to our area a little over a year ago and immediately became active in worship, Bible classes, and youth activities. As her faith matured through study, encouragement from fellow Christians, and conversations with her father, she made the decision Thursday evening to put on Christ in baptism. The third baptism from our congregation took place Friday night when Sylas Moore chose to give his life to Christ. Like Eason, Sylas is another example of the tremendous impact that Christian friendships and a loving church family can have on the lives of young people. His decision is a reminder that God often works through relationships to draw people to Himself. We are incredibly thankful for our Youth Minister, Chris Brill, and the outstanding work he is doing with our young people. Our teens continue to amaze us with their willingness to invite friends, build meaningful relationships, and have sincere conversations about faith. God is blessing these efforts, and we give Him all the glory. God is good!”

Northside church of Christ, Harrison, Arkansas: Larry Keener (elder) reports, “Northside church in Harrison continues to develop our evangelism work. Our Zoom meeting with Rob was encouraging and gave us some areas to work on. Last night was a great night of teaching by Steve Powers and training by David Glenn. Our Wednesday night teacher training class started role-playing with Back to the Bible. We are developing our model and putting our teams in place. We appreciate all prayers for our efforts.”

David Glenn (coordinator) writes, “We had a good response from Holly, sent to us from Barb Kernodle. She is one of the contacts who has been receiving our cards. We had another good response in person, where a contact stopped a member and told them how much they appreciated the cards and that they would be coming back. I just got this from Holly: ‘I also wanted you to know that I’ve read every single card the members of Northside have sent me! They’re all lovely and warm, and the children are obviously my favorites, lol, but I’ve found comfort, encouragement, and love from them all. It means so much to me, Barb. Please let everyone know how grateful I am for their support. I will be at a service this week. I think for the future, I will let my team lead know I need to be scheduled off earlier on Saturday nights so I can be at church on Sunday morning. I am old, lol, and that’s just not enough turnaround time for me, unless they want to give me Wednesday nights off. Anyway, sorry, that’s the plan on that. I love you, Barb, and that’s what the kids nowadays call real talk.’ ”

Bergman church of Christ, Harrison, Arkansas: Vince Stewart (preacher) reports, “We began ‘New Movers!’ My wife and I visited three new movers on Tuesday evening after she got off work; only one was home. We will go back and try again. I am not sure if the other two have moved in yet. The one who was home was a successful visit, but it lasted only three or four minutes; we did not want to hold her up, as she was having a hard time holding a friendly big dog’s back, but she knows who we are and what we are representing. We are now putting her on the prospect list and starting to send new mover compassion cards. I made sure to do this before Lord’s Day yesterday, since I taught a whole class on ‘new movers’ and had something to report. I also mentioned a couple of successful visits David Glenn at Northside had as well as their use with compassion cards. He and I have been in close communication on this work, and we hope to start having lunch together occasionally to discuss it. Our two prospects we were going to visit, Rick and Caffie Moore, referred both of them, so I have been letting them handle communication about when we can make the visit. I do not know when we will see Sherry as she is going through chemo and radiation, so she can hardly see any visitors due to her very low immune system. Last Wednesday night, there were several emergency vehicles passing by our building. There was a very bad wreck between a car and a motorcycle, which closed the road for a while. We later found out the guy on the motorcycle died. A couple of our members knew him, and he was engaged to get married, so we are going to begin to send his fiancée compassion cards.  So we should now have two new prospects.”

Concord Street church of Christ, Orlando, Florida: Billy Dickson (evangelist) reports, “Please join us in praying for our nine ongoing Bible studies. We are thankful to report that our new sister in Christ, Gerri, was baptized on June 20 after studying the Bible with Garfield, our Deacon of Evangelism. Gerri first attended services during our evangelism seminar in April, and it has been encouraging to see the fruit of those efforts. Our New Converts Class officially began on Sunday and Wednesday, and we have connected our new converts with three to five mentors each to help encourage and strengthen them in their walk with Christ. We have also organized the congregation into five Compassion Card Teams. Each Sunday, one team gathers for approximately 20 minutes to write cards to prospects, visitors, and others in need of encouragement. Yesterday, as part of the sermon, we distributed and collected the Back to the Bible surveys, and we are excited to review the results. We will begin congregational Back to the Bible training this Sunday and look forward to the opportunities it will create for evangelism, follow-up, and the establishment of even more Bible studies. We appreciate all prayers for this work.”

Niceville church of Christ, Florida: Joe Palmer (preacher) reports, “This week was a week where I was glad to see some things start to take shape in that they were becoming second nature.  A young couple visited the church on Sunday, and because I have been ill, it was my first time meeting them. I am sure they had received cards, but not only that, without anyone asking them, they told me that a young couple had dropped by and taken them some cookies. While I was there, another young couple was setting up a play date for their kids.  We had ten visitors and two studies ongoing.”

Margaret Street church of Christ, Milton, Florida: Troy Spradlin (preacher) reports, “We have a new sister in Christ! Whitley Henry obeyed the Gospel after returning home from camp and studying with her parents. We rejoice with the angels above and the Henry family for this new addition to the kingdom! We also have a new Visitors/Pew Greeters Coordinator. Anthony Juliano and his family moved back into our area recently and placed a membership with us. He has a heart for evangelism and ministry, so he wanted to get to work right away. We are happy to have him on board! Our total 2026 Accountability Board numbers are: 159 Contacts Received; 101 Neighbors (Prospects); 633 Compassion Cards sent; 21 Bible studies; one Restoration, and nine Baptisms.”

Milestone church of Christ, Cantonment, Florida: Randy Brantley (elder) reports, “We had seven visitors on Sunday. The greater joy than that is a young man, Dylan, who put on Christ in baptism.”

Cumming church of Christ, Georgia:  Murphy O’Brien (member) reports, “We had one new visitor this past week and made two follow-up visits. We sent five cards last week and conducted three Bible studies.  We are in the beginning stages of training and setup.”

Cartersville church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Charles Harris (regional trainer) reports, “If you get out into the community as a Christian should, eventually you get noticed. Two separate facilities have reached out to me asking me to conduct Bible studies. I am excited about the good for the Lord that will take place.”

Woodstock church of Christ, Georgia: Matt Amos (preacher) reports, “Woodstock Church of Christ (WCOC) and the Sunabella Assisted Living Facility devotional had approximately five non-Christians at the devotional on Sunday. The Prison Ministries had two WCOC members who attended the DeKalb RYDC Father’s Day breakfast and devotional. This event had approximately thirty-plus people in attendance. We had ten visitors this past Sunday at WCOC. The compassion group sent out eighteen compassion cards. WCOC had twenty-one private Bible studies last week. We are elated to announce that we have gained two new souls into the family with two baptisms.”

Gray church of Christ, Georgia (remote): Keith Dixon (preacher) reports, “We are a little slow right now, but we are not giving up. We sent 10 cards, and we have two prospects. To God be the glory.”

Warner Robbins church of Christ, Georgia: Damien Walker (evangelist) reports, “We have had some studies recently, and a new brother in Christ as a result, Michael Eddy. That gospel seed was planted a little over a year ago, and recently we have seen strong roots and a strong plant as he connects with the church and loves Jesus. We petition prayers on his behalf as he navigates some difficult life changes. Our transition team concluded training with an introduction to how we will all be conducting our follow-ups and Bible studies from now on. Every family on the team got a backpack with Bible study essentials (mints, tissues, coloring books for prospects’ children, Evangelism Visualized, etc.). We divvied out 10 warm/hot prospects among the group and left with the goal of connecting with those people and starting to build trust, so that we can hopefully soon earn that Bible study with them. We have laid a lot of solid groundwork up to this point, and we are finally seeing the rubber meet the road. Please pray for our team as we get this transition process started.”

Collinsville-Troy church of Christ, Illinois: Jason Wright (evangelist) reports, “We mailed 90 compassion cards and gave out one visitor bag. We made several follow-up visits. Our clothing closet will be open this week as well. This is a great evangelistic tool that brings people in and gives us a chance to make contacts. We conducted five more Bible studies this week. Our congregational training continues on the third and fourth Sundays. The evangelism class I started with the teens continued into week three. Three of them made the trip to AMC Roanoke. I remind them they are the church of today as well as tomorrow.

Columbus church of Christ, Kansas: Matt Fowler (member) reports, “We are rejoicing with two precious souls that obeyed the Gospel on Sunday morning. If you have been following our study with Jake and Paige, they knew they needed to be baptized for the forgiveness of their sins. They also knew that prior to that, they needed to make sure their living arrangements were modified until their wedding date, which they moved up. With all of that in place, I got a text on Sunday morning saying that they wanted to be baptized into Christ.  We did just that before Bible class began, and they had their first worship service as new Christians. It was not easy for Paige, as she was raised Catholic and there was some family turmoil with her mom, but they were brave enough to follow through anyway. We also had three community members who came to worship after receiving a new mover basket. They stayed for our fellowship meal and said they plan to continue to attend. We are praying for opportunities there as well. God has blessed us with much growth at the Columbus congregation. In January of 2025, we averaged 17 in attendance. This Sunday, several families were unable to attend due to flooding and travel issues. We were missing 12 of our members from service, and our attendance was still at 18! Keep praying and keep working, brethren!”

Beloit church of Christ, Kansas: Dustin Doughtery (preacher) reports, “I have been re-listening to the advanced lessons on WVBS, which, with all the callbacks I had last week, I was able to complete several sessions with the extra going back and forth to work. Work has been simply exhausting, negatively impacting everything else. I have been praying for the hearts of the people in this community to be softened to God’s word and our congregational and individual efforts. I wish I could have come down to Roanoke for the AMC.”

Spring Creek church of Christ, Hickory, Kentucky: David Morse (elder) reports, “Greetings from the Spring Creek congregation. This week, we are having Vacation Bible School at Spring Creek. We are pleased to have five teenagers and a chaperone visiting with us from the Weber Road Church of Christ in Texas. This group, along with a few members of our congregation, has been going out into our local community, knocking on doors, inviting our neighbors to attend VBS, and passing out information about the church. Our current numbers include visitors- 20, prospects – 15, cards written – 2,475, baptisms-five, baptism goal-seven.”

Central church of Christ, Paducah, Kentucky: Adam Faughn (elder) reports, “This past Monday evening, we met with our local area coordinators for such projects as guest bags and new mover baskets. We shared information and set some goals for the coming 12 months. It was a very productive meeting, and the coordinators left very excited. Then, on Sunday, we announced that we are ‘clearing’ all our teams so that our members have an opportunity to change their area of work for the coming year, rather than feeling as if they are ‘locked in’ forever. It was exciting to see several people talking with coordinators and either volunteering or getting more information. We plan to relaunch our new teams on the first of August. We are also glad that two of our members, Matt McDougal and Matthew Myers, are in Roanoke, Texas, this week for the American Mission Campaign. Finally, on Saturday, we had a booth at the local farmers’ market, and two people signed up seeking Bible studies. One was from out of state and requested a study by mail. The other is local and requested both mail and in-person studies. We will follow up on these this week.”

Carriage Oaks church of Christ, Bossier City, Louisiana: Andrew Wynn (preacher) reports, “It has been an outstanding week at the Carriage Oaks church of Christ. Last week, we had three baptisms. Yesterday, I preached the final sermon from John 4. We also had several visitors yesterday. One is a returning visitor. We also transitioned to adding names on our bookmarks to the prospect list for compassion cards. We continue to have ongoing Bible studies. This week, we plan to focus on our compassion card efforts. Our goal is to get the cards and room organized and then add the members to Teams. This Sunday, I plan to go over the compassion cards PowerPoint training with the congregation. It is very encouraging to see the results of the fruit and blessings that God has given us, especially so early in our efforts. We appreciate prayers that we would have more opportunities to glorify God and plant and water the Seed.”

Waldorf church of Christ, Maryland: Joseph Day (member) reports, “We rejoice in the baptism of Harve Tabe this past Sunday. We have our Zoom meeting with Rob scheduled for July to review our progress and provide additional training.”

La Plata church of Christ, Maryland: Eric Sykes (regional trainer) reports, “I pray that all is going well. We wrote 43 compassion cards. We had two visitors for our Wednesday night Bible study class. We had 13 folks visit us on Sunday. One of our Elders, Brother Bradshaw, and his wife took one of the guests out to lunch. One of the guests from Sunday had several questions, so my daughter-in-law and I sat down with her and completed Lesson 1 of Back to the Bible this afternoon. It went great. She wants to complete Lesson 2 right away, so we are scheduled to do Lesson 2 with her on Thursday. The transition team completed three more visits this week. We currently have six ongoing Bible studies. Please keep us lifted up in prayer as we continue to share the gospel of Christ in our community.”

Oak Grove church of Christ, Missouri: David Wiseman (elder) reports, “We had a large attendance this last Sunday, including nine visitors, of whom seven were unique. We had a mixture of old friends, family, and local people. In our Sunday morning lessons, we are working our way through the Back to the Biblestudy program and have finished Lesson 2 of the third booklet. This was an encouragement to our congregation. We sent out 21 compassion cards and have been following up with visits on the cards.  We have had a lot of new movers recently and have also sent out cards to 23 of them. We have been very busy!”

Fulton church of Christ, Mississippi: Richard Comer (member) reports, “We have two prospects right now, and we sent out 15 compassion cards.”

Aberdeen church of Christ, Mississippi: Jonathan Hagar (preacher) reports, “This past Sunday, we had our Card Writing Sunday. We had several people stay after services and help us write cards, which is always encouraging! We had two return visitors this past Sunday! We were happy to see them involved and interested in the church! We had several people go up and talk to them. It was a great Father’s Day, so for the Bookmarks, I asked whether anyone knew a man who had recently become a father or a family that had recently lost a father. I typically try to incorporate the sermon theme and weekend holiday events into the Bookmark categories. The plan was to go door-knocking this weekend, but the rain washed us out, so we will try another weekend. I have two Bible studies set up this week with five people. I appreciate prayers for these studies to go well. The church here continues to grow and evangelize!

East Flushing church of Christ, New York (remote): Clarence Jenkins (preacher) reports, “We had three visitors last Lord’s Day. Our metrics thus far through June are three baptisms, nine visitors, ten Bible studies, and one in our new-convert class. We are going to distribute flyers in the community to attract visitors to our upcoming vacation Bible school. We appreciate all prayers.”

Concord church of Christ, New Hampshire (remote): Terry Hale (evangelist) reports, “Three prospects have opened God’s word with us in Book 1 of Back to the Bible. All three completed Book 1 with excitement showing on their expression. All three are ready to make the transition to Book 2. Training went very well with the presentation of contacts in the model with the first training for many on hot contacts. The new convert class seems to be helping as our new brothers and sisters are growing. We enjoyed the opportunity to have a growing brother sit in Bible studies for the first time as a helper. So thankful to see many learn God’s word while watching members learn to be soldiers in the kingdom. To God be the glory.”

Abilene Church of Christ, Statesville, North Carolina: Gary Dull (minister) reports, “Our 20 members are consistent with their attendance at every service. We come together 30 minutes early on Sunday nights to do Compassion Cards. Most of the time, we have three names on our card list. We start two new Bible studies this week. We appreciate all prayers for these studies.”

Alkire Road church of Christ, Grove City, Ohio: Tony Dunnagan (member) reports, “We had 16 visitors; some were returning visitors who are already contacts. We currently have three Bible studies and have had one Baptism from one of the recent studies. We continue to make transition visits.”

Owasso church of Christ, Oklahoma: David Combs (elder) reports, “Visitors: 5; Prospects: 1; Visits Made: 2; Cards Sent: 219; Bible Studies: five.”

Barnes church of Christ, Oklahoma: John Bellah (member) reports, “On Sunday, Gary Henson began teaching from the red book of Back to the Bible. We have had several return visitors, and we are certainly happy for that. Group 4 wrote cards for some of our previous visitors. We topped off the day with the baptism of Bobby, who decided to put on Christ after studying with Randy Warner for the last few weeks. We rejoice in this and look forward to helping him grow as a Christian.”

Grove church of Christ, Oklahoma: Juan Jarmillo (preacher) reports, “This past week was very beneficial. We were able to have our three-month meeting with Rob, and this has helped a lot in figuring out what we need to work on. We were also able to get two more contacts that we can prospect with compassion cards! We are also looking forward to our follow-up visits.”

Guymon church of Christ, Oklahoma: Chandler Henderson (preacher) reports, “Guymon church of Christ, Chandler Henderson reports: We have 5 prospects, have 5 bible studies, have 2 follow-up visits planned, a new converts class Sunday mornings, made 3 visits, and had 9 visitors on Sunday.”

St. Andrews Road church of Christ, Columbia, South Carolina: Jamie Byrom (preacher) reports: “Last week, our congregation wrote 46 compassion cards. We continue to have three in our new converts’ class. We are in the planning stages of a community backpack giveaway and are considering how to maximize the day and create contacts. We hope to start training our folks to conduct transition visits soon.”

White Knoll church of Christ, South Carolina: James Reynolds (deacon) reports, “This week, we started by handing out and explaining to the congregation the purpose of the contact bookmarks. We are looking forward to next week and praying for those on our lists. The elders are still ironing out details on rolling out the model. We are thankful for all prayers.”

Southern Hills church of Christ, Franklin, Tennessee: Fredrick Klein (preacher) reports, “Things are moving along here! We have our House-to-House mailings set up and are looking forward to the New Movers program restarting. During our deacons’ and preachers’ meeting, we discussed several ways to make meaningful contact with visitors at our upcoming VBS. We are also exploring the possibility of offering an online Bible correspondence course to reach those who prefer to study from home. Our Trail Life troop continues to develop as well. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect several congregations in the area through this effort, while also providing another avenue to meet and encourage families who may be searching for a church home.”

Soddy church of Christ, Soddy Daisy, Tennessee: Joe Mallory (preacher) reports, “This week, we will be busy sending cards of compassion to prospects, and we long to study with them. It is truly exciting to see new converts learning and serving in the church! Yesterday, we launched a Bible study class on Sunday mornings that focuses on fundamental principles and foundations for every Christian. It will be very beneficial for the new convert and also for those who have been following our Lord for a number of years. We are in full preparation mode for our upcoming 4th of July community event, which we will host in our parking lot, serving food and refreshments, inviting many to VBS, and seeking the lost. We are prayerful that we will make many contacts, building relationships with those we hope to serve.”

Cookeville church of Christ, Tennessee: Daniel Burton (deacon) reports, “We currently have one active Bible study taking place. We request prayers for the study to continue. Yesterday, we had two visitors attend worship with us. They actually intended to visit a denomination but came to Cookeville by mistake. Even so, their visit was positive, and we are thankful for every opportunity to welcome guests and show the love of Christ. We have restructured our compassion card ministry to encourage greater involvement throughout the congregation. Team leaders have been appointed to help coordinate the effort, increase participation, and ensure that more people are reached. We are grateful for those who are willing to serve in this important work.”

Birdwell’s Chapel church of Christ, Cottontown, Tennessee: Kerry England (elder) reports, “Last week our youth were at Big Reedy Christian Camp along with a good contingent of adults. They had a great week of fun, but more importantly, they had a week of spiritual nourishment. On Sunday morning, a young man who has been attending for the past year and is active in the youth group came forward wanting to be baptized! He has been studying with some of the youth and our youth minister. That is the second young person to put on Christ in the last month! Our youth group does an excellent job of inviting, welcoming, and accepting new members into the group. They are a big asset in our evangelism efforts. VBS is less than a month away. We have the invitations printed. We will begin using the compassion card teams to mail these to people who attended last year’s VBS or one of our other activities.”

Hillcrest church of Christ, Springfield, Tennessee: Tim Taylor (evangelist) reports, “We are looking forward to compiling VBS visitor contact lists for our compassion card teams. We had a great VBS with many visitors, averaging 176 in attendance over the four nights.”

White Bluff church of Christ, Tennessee: Shamron Jackson (elder) reports, “We had around 25 visitors for Father’s Day. What a great week! We had three additional baptisms this week. James Stanfield, Lee Bevan, and his son Caleb. Transition visits are scheduled for next week. We ask for prayers to increase the number of our workers. We have many that we need to follow up with. We are sending out 140 cards this week.”

Freewill church of Christ, Gainesboro, Tennessee (remote): Andrew Scott (preacher) reports, “We have had a great weekend. On Saturday, we went through Lesson 2 of Back to the Bible with our two new prospects. We had a great study, and they had a lot of questions related to the Lord’s church. It was very eye-opening for them. We have Lesson 3 planned in two weeks. We had a record number of visitors this past Sunday! We will be mailing out more compassion cards this week. We are going to reach a record number of cards sent for this year! We also have four new prospects who are ready for transition into Bible studies. We are as busy as ever and give God the glory!”

West Sparta church of Christ, Tennessee: Justin Turney (deacon) reports, “We do not have a whole lot to report for this last week. We definitely had quite a few visitors yesterday, with it being Father’s Day. We have sent over 250 cards (not sure the exact number), and we have about nine prospects currently.”

Chapel Hill church of Christ, Tennessee: Matt Jones (deacon) reports, “We wrapped up our VBS this past week. We will be following up with a good number of visitors. Several visitors who came for the first time during VBS returned on Sunday, which was very positive. We look forward to the work ahead to reach out and follow up with everyone.”

Mountain Creek church of Christ, Chattanooga, Tennessee: Michael Tomshack (elder) reports, “We had a successful Vacation Bible School last week. This year, we decided to approach visiting non-members of the Church with a comprehensive Compassion Card team mailing over four weeks, followed by in-person visits. While attending VBS is not technically a life event, we believe it is worthwhile to invest the effort fully. Our greeting teams worked throughout the VBS schedule, interacting with visitors, making them feel welcome, and personally inviting them to worship and our Connect Group meetings. May the Lord grant us the increase.”

Rivergate Church of Christ, Madison, Tennessee: Doug Tooley (preacher) reports, “Last week we had three visitors on Wednesday night. On Sunday morning, we had about 15 visitors, and we had two visitors on Sunday night. We had a restoration response on Wednesday night and a prayer response on Sunday morning. On Monday of last week, we baptized a husband and wife who had been visiting with us for a while. They went to lunch with the family of one of our elders last Sunday morning. After Sunday night service, I was studying with the wife, and the husband decided he did not know what he was doing when he was immersed previously. They came back on Monday evening and were baptized.”

Collierville church of Christ, Tennessee: Justin Evergarden (associate minister) reports, “This week brought another encouraging milestone as we welcomed our 24th visitor of the year. We have now mailed 539 cards, made five visits, and grown our prospect list to 38 contacts. We are also thankful to report that we now have six active Bible studies underway. In addition, we have delivered 48 New Movers baskets so far this year. As we continue preparing for our Fourth of July outreach, it is encouraging to see opportunities for teaching and follow-up continuing to increase. The growth in Bible studies has been especially encouraging, and we are grateful for the congregation’s commitment to reaching out and building relationships in the community.”

North Jefferson church of Christ, Mt Pleasant, Texas: Davin Whatley (associate minister) reports, “Two of our members and I are currently at the AMC campaign in Roanoke! Reach Team 3 met on Sunday and wrote cards. Joan, Mary, and I will, hopefully, be studying Book 2 with our cleaning ladies on Monday. This Saturday, we will be having our VBS Kickoff before our weekly VBS (every Wednesday night) for the next six weeks. Our VBS was a fantastic contact creator last year, and we are looking forward to what will come from it this year!”

Bridge Avenue church of Christ, Weslaco, Texas: Braulio Carvajal (evangelist) reports, “Bridge Avenue continues to be busy with evangelism. This week, we will be door-knocking in the neighborhood and will be inviting people to our VBS on Friday. In addition, we will be handing out vegetables and fruit in a neighborhood. We will be notifying people about our community for those who can use the help. This Sunday, we had four visitors. We continue with our new-convert classes and have three ongoing Bible studies. This week, we have a group of volunteers from New Road Church of Christ in Waco, Texas, teaching our youth the Sower program from Lads to Leaders.”

Northern Oaks church of Christ, San Antonio, Texas: Mel Hutzler (preacher) reports, “We are happy to report three more baptisms. We had Adam, Tony, and Gauge who put on Christ in baptism. We continue to send cards, do follow-ups, and take visitors’ information. Our new convert’s class continues with great success. We have members who recently went to Jamaica, Bible Camp, and AMC. We continue to look for more ways to evangelize and have more members get involved in the area of reaching the lost. Bible studies are always ongoing; seeing people get baptized is the new norm, and we are very blessed by God, who gives the increase.”

Bridgewater church of Christ, Katy, Texas: Doug Suggs (deacon) reports, “Jay was told that Bridgewater would be a good congregation to attend in Katy. He is a graduate of Texas A & M, and we are pleased he came. Jim studied with him, and on Sunday evening, he was baptized into Christ. The angels in heaven and we are rejoicing. Our New Movers team met on Sunday evening, and we mailed 51 invites to those who have moved into our area. Christian is in a study with a friend of his, and it is going well. This is the first time he has done a study on his own. Wade and I have a study with the son of one of our members on Friday evening. Five members of our congregation and two from College Station will be traveling to Mexico on the 29th.”

Eisenhower Church of Christ, Odessa, Texas:  Allen Weakland (elder) reports, “As summer progresses, VBS is ramping up, Summer Bible camp is in full swing, and time for family vacations is upon us. Yet God continues to provide contacts. Sadly, one of our long-time members passed from this life, and during her funeral, several guests visited our evangelism table. A couple of our members took this opportunity to speak with them and to invite them to worship the following Sunday. One of the interested guests took up the invitation, and she and her husband joined us for worship. Though they left our worship service very quickly, they joined us again this past Sunday. God is so good. We ask for prayers that these two souls will soften and allow us to engage in a study in the near future.”

Wheeler church of Christ, Texas: Garrett English (preacher) reports, “We had 5 visitors to our Wednesday night meal who were invited by a member. We welcomed them and urged them to stay to study with us, to no avail. We will reach out to see if they will visit again or study with us. I taught a workshop at the FFA Leadership Conference in Clarendon last week, which resulted in over 100 people being taught a message from the Bible, and one soul asking about how to get right with the Lord. I gave him an AP study Bible and the Muscle & A Shovel book and am praying for God’s increase. We continue to have more visitors to our VBS each week. Follow-up will be key.”

Stratford church of Christ, Texas: Chad Thies (preacher) reports, “We did not have any new contacts this week. We sent Compassion Cards and had one Bible study. Our new converts class had two on Sunday and three on Wednesday. We are looking forward to having Raoul and Misty Ferris in our area so we can work together to reach the lost.”

Seagoville church of Christ, Texas: Kodie Martin (evangelist) reports, “We had a great turnout for Father’s Day, and with that comes more contacts, with a few people we have been prospecting in attendance! It is also good to see the role people have been playing in mentoring, as several new converts have had attendance issues, and many in the church are stepping up to reach out. We will do whatever we can to make connections with them. We have had several Bible studies that are on hold due to logistics/communication at this time, but that does not mean we are stopping or reaching out in love, and we will follow the model as we rekindle these!”

West Side church of Christ, Salem, Virginia: Jeff Durham (elder) reports, “Our Card Writing continues to those who attended our most recent Community Support Day event. We also use those contact opportunities to promote our School Backpack Giveaway Day, July 18. Our morning lessons this month have focused on Peace, which is part of our Fruit of the Spirit emphasis this year. People are searching for peace in their lives, but their greatest need is the peace that comes from being in the body of Christ and the hope of eternity in heaven. We encourage our members to use this desire and quest for peace as an opportunity when speaking to others about matters that are important to them.”

Williamsburg church of Christ, Virginia : Jim Bishop (elder) reports, “Excitement and Momentum are building for our VBS. After Wednesday morning Bible study, the class prepared 30 bag lunches. The bags included a sandwich, chips, and Capri Sun, along with an invitation card to join us for VBS. We also distributed 115 door hangers inviting people to VBS, children, and adults. The VBS team and volunteers will meet on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The event will run on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and will culminate with a community cookout. Our reading assistance program resumes on Wednesday with 29 students enrolled. These students and parents will also be invited to attend VBS. We pray God receives the Glory and many are introduced to and obey the Gospel.”
